Step through the door and you’ll be wowed by the beautiful interior of this lovely ground-floor holiday accommodation. The open-plan living space provides a sociable space for film nights in front of the media centre and stove, and meals together reminiscing over the day’s adventures. The large sliding patio door leads to a decking area which can be a lovely sun trap on warmer days where you can enjoy an evening drink or a family barbecue. The decking, which is for sole use of guests, looks over the communal courtyard, which features a lovely lantern. For the grown-up kids, there is a snug mezzanine area reached by a fixed ladder, the perfect place for chilling out. There are two bedrooms, one with a kingsize bed and the second with a single bed and pull-out trundle that can be made up as two singles or a double bed; there is also a ‘secret’ sleeping space with cabin-style bed accessed by a fixed ladder in this room.
Bramley is a lovely large village in north Hampshire boasting its own railway station, which is just a 10-minute walk from Lantern Lodge and connects you to Basingstoke and Reading. The village also offers a great bakery and pub. You can reach the larger towns of Basingstoke, 5 miles away, and Reading, 10 miles away, quite easily and they boast an array of local amenities, shopping, and a choice of eateries. There is much to explore in this area including The Vyne, a historic National Trust property, less than a mile away, which hosts events and outdoor concerts in its stunning grounds. Silchester Roman ruins, less than 4 miles away - a great dog walk too; Wellington country park, an award-winning destination for a family day out, Wellington farm shop and café selling locally sourced produce, both within 4 miles, Highclere Castle; made famous by the filming of Downton Abbey is 16 miles away. The Cathedral and medieval city of Winchester are 24 miles away, Ascot with its famous Racecourse 22 miles away and Royal Windsor is 29 miles away.
With three Areas of Natural Beauty all within half an hour’s drive, you’ll be spoilt for choice for days out. The North Wessex Downs, the Chilterns and the South Downs National Park all provide magnificent scenery, outstanding walks and a selection of highly acclaimed pubs and country inns, and are considered as a natural playground for ramblers, cyclists, and nature enthusiasts alike. For more family fun Legoland, Thorpe Park, Peppa Pig World, Four Kingdoms Adventure Park, and Bird World are all great days out.

In a tranquil countryside setting, The Art Barn is a wonderful old barn that has been completely converted to sleep four guests in two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a queensize bed with an en-suite bathroom with roll-top bath and separate shower cubicle. The second bedroom offers twin beds, and the property also benefits from a second shower room. For those that need to catch up on emails, desk space is available. French doors lead out to a private lawned garden with patio area with an outdoor table and benches for six, a couple of armchairs and a BBQ. You can enjoy sitting outside in complete privacy here, with it being screened by trees from the owner’s main house and private garden.
The Art Barn, formally used by the owner as her art studio is a very inspiring space, so if you have a creative flare don’t forget to bring your sketch pad as there is lots to inspire you. The owners have a cat and friendly dog, but please be aware the property is not suitable for anyone with an allergy to horses.
This rural setting is easily accessible and perfect for exploring the many things this area has to offer. The Jane Austen House Museum is only a 15-minute drive away in the picturesque village of Chawton with tea rooms and pub. A perfect location for walkers and cyclists with direct gate access onto the bridle path leading to Bramshott and Ludshott Commons. There is so much on offer in this beautiful part of the south of England with the Goodwood Estate world known for its racing, golfing and horse racing and home to the famous Festival of Speed and Revival, less than a 40-minute drive away. Cowdray Estate, for polo, is just 30-minute drive and it is only 20 minutes to Trotton Estates Vineyard where you can enjoy a tour, picnic or even a wine tasting event. Within easy reach are beaches at Hayling Island, West Wittering and Bognor Regis, the picturesque sailing village of Bosham, Arundel with its historic castle and antique shops and the historic cathedral city of Chichester with its festival theatre and array of shops.

Lilypad is a newly built home in a peaceful residential area within walking distance to the high street of Ringwood. Downstairs there is an open plan kitchen, living and dining room with a 43-inch smart tv. In the kitchen there is a fridge freezer, dishwasher, gas hob and electric oven with all the equipment you need to cook a meal to enjoy together. Ringwood high street is within walking distance, this historic town comprises of a rich mixture of architecture including buildings which are thatched, Georgian, modern, and historic buildings lining the streets. A stroll along west street will take you to the Jubilee Gardens with a millstream running through which once powered the corn mill. There is a variety of independent shops in Ringwood along with cafes and eateries. Ringwood Brewery is well worth a visit during your time here, and you can even book a tour to sample the local beers. Ringwood has a weekly market as well as several farm shops within driving distance for local produce. For walkers and cyclists, the Castleman trail is easily accessible from Bickerley Road, this follows the old train route between Dorchester and Southampton.
For days out you must visit the New Forest with its free roaming horses, cattle and donkeys and an abundance of unique villages and pubs throughout. Moors Valley is fantastic for walking and cycling within the forest and you can even book an experience at Go Ape to climb among the treetops. There is the New Forest Water Park with a variety of water sports and a giant inflatable obstacle course on the water which is a fantastic day out. For fishing a day license can be purchased at the tackle shop for fishing on the River Avon with the chance to catch a variety of fish including Pike, Chub and Carp. The beaches of Southbourne and Avon Beach are within a half hour drive, with a mixture of sandy areas and pebbled area. Other nearby days out include Beaulieu Motor Museum, Liberty’s Owl and Reptile Centre, Dorset Heavy Horse Farm, Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary, and you can get a ferry to the Isle of Wight for a day trip! Nearby Cheriton has a village shop and there are two popular local pubs both serving fine fayre. Alresford is known for being the UK’s capital of watercress farming - enjoy a trip on the Mid Hants Watercress Steam Railway for a wonderful nostalgic journey back in time! There are many good golf clubs in the area, the nearest being Alresford, 3 miles, and excellent trout or coarse fishing in the Meon Valley.
In addition to the many scenic walks in the area, there are also a range of attractions to explore. The National Trust’s Hinton Ampner is popular with all ages. The properties are within easy reach of the historic city of Winchester, 8 miles, with its ornate cathedral, The Gurkha Museum, King Alfred Monument and Winchester Science and Planetarium. There are beer and wine tours and tastings within the area too. Described as ‘the curious angular house’ by the locals, Plover Cottage is 200 years old, standing detached and was formerly the shoemaker’s house, and was also once the local dentist’s surgery. Occupying a very convenient location, it makes an ideal holiday getaway for couples or small families who wish to explore the area. Milford on Sea, one of the last remaining seaside villages, is popular year-round, with a good selection of pubs, restaurants and local shops. The cottage is only 10 minutes’ walk from the beach and 5 minutes from excellent birdwatching areas within a popular conservation area, including the marshes and Sturt Pond, where there is a hide. Walk along Hurst Spit to Hurst Castle (English Heritage), about 1½ miles away, where Charles I was imprisoned; there is also a ferry from nearby Keyhaven to the castle. It is a scenic walk over the cliff tops to Barton-on-Sea, and you can stop off at the café for refreshments en route! There are Victorian Pleasure Gardens throughout the village which follow the river, and keen walkers can take the coastal path from Keyhaven Nature Reserve to Lymington. Although it is a long walk, it takes in some incredible views.
Further afield you can park your car at Hengistbury Head and walk all the way to Boscombe, or alternatively from Highcliffe Castle to Mudeford, then take the short ferry to Hengistbury. The beaches in the locality are very clean, and many people swim from the Milford Beaches. There is a paddle boarding shop in the village, and lessons can be taken in Mudeford. The water in Christchurch Harbour is very shallow, and great for those learning to paddle board.
Lymington, with its harbour, restaurants, inns, nautical boutiques and ferry link to the Isle of Wight, is only about 5 miles. The New Forest is known for it extensive scenic walks, cycling and riding routes, whilst other places to visit include Beaulieu Motor Museum, Paultons Park, Bucklers Hard, Marwell Zoo, New Forest Owl and Otter Park and Christchurch Priory. Many larger beaches with various attractions are within easy reach, including Sandbanks, Poole and Bournemouth. Tea Pot Cottage is a delightful two-bedroom cottage located in the centre of Ringwood, perfect for exploring an abundance of eateries, and quaint and modern shops. The property has an open plan kitchen and living area on the ground floor providing a light and social space to relax in. You can spend cosy nights in the living area which has a 42” Smart TV, along with two-seater sofas providing plenty of room to spread out. There is also a desk with USB charger points, a bookcase and a dining table with four chairs. Next to the kitchen is a handy cloakroom cupboard and a downstairs shower room. Heading up to the first floor, there are two bedrooms. The first has a double bed, whilst the second bedroom has two 3ft twin beds.
Outside there is a beautiful garden at the back of the cottage which has a table with four chairs, a parasol and two sun loungers, perfect for enjoying a warm summer’s evening. There is a garden shed which houses an extra upright fridge/freezer, a washing machine and a tumble dryer.
Dating back to 1226, the market town of Ringwood stands on the banks of the River Avon and on the western fringes of the New Forest National Park. It is perfectly placed if you are after a walking holiday, as it is a town passed through by the Avon Valley Path. This route covers 34 miles of countryside stretching all the way from Salisbury in Wiltshire to Christchurch Priory on the south coast, following the River Avon the whole time. For more manageable walks, the route has been split into five smaller sections. One of Ringwood’s most popular attractions is the Brewery which offers tours of its premises. Just outside of the town is another top attraction, Liberty’s Owl, Raptor and Reptile Centre, where visitors can meet birds of prey, reptiles and insects.
There’s a wide choice of places to eat in Ringwood, whether you’re after traditional fare or freshly caught seafood. There is a café/bar on the High Street which offers breakfast/brunch/lunch every day. You can start the day on coffee or tea then end with cask ales, world lagers, wine or cocktails, with the option to dine al fresco in the lovely covered outdoor area.
