Step through the door and you’ll be wowed by the beautiful interior of this lovely ground-floor holiday accommodation. Everywhere you look, you’ll be delighted with the well-thought-out living spaces and fantastic finishing touches. The open-plan living space provides a sociable space for film nights in front of the media centre and stove, and meals together reminiscing over the day’s adventures. The large sliding patio door leads to a decking area which can be a lovely sun trap on warmer days where you can enjoy an evening drink or a family barbecue. The decking, which is for sole use of guests, looks over the communal courtyard, which features a lovely lantern. For the grown-up kids, there is a snug mezzanine area reached by a fixed ladder, the perfect place for chilling out. There are two bedrooms, one with a kingsize bed and the second with a single bed and pull-out trundle that can be made up as two singles or a double bed; there is also a ‘secret’ sleeping space with cabin-style bed accessed by a fixed ladder in this room.
Bramley is a lovely large village in north Hampshire boasting its own railway station, which is just a 10-minute walk from Lantern Lodge and connects you to Basingstoke and Reading. The village also offers a great bakery and pub. You can reach the larger towns of Basingstoke, 5 miles away, and Reading, 10 miles away, quite easily and they boast an array of local amenities, shopping, and a choice of eateries. There is much to explore in this area including The Vyne, a historic National Trust property, less than a mile away, which hosts events and outdoor concerts in its stunning grounds. Silchester Roman ruins, less than 4 miles away - a great dog walk too; Wellington country park, an award-winning destination for a family day out, Wellington farm shop and café selling locally sourced produce, both within 4 miles, Highclere Castle; made famous by the filming of Downton Abbey is 16 miles away. The Cathedral and medieval city of Winchester are 24 miles away, Ascot with its famous Racecourse 22 miles away and Royal Windsor is 29 miles away.
With three Areas of Natural Beauty all within half an hour’s drive, you’ll be spoilt for choice for days out. The North Wessex Downs, the Chilterns and the South Downs National Park all provide magnificent scenery, outstanding walks and a selection of highly acclaimed pubs and country inns, and are considered as a natural playground for ramblers, cyclists, and nature enthusiasts alike. For more family fun Legoland, Thorpe Park, Peppa Pig World, Four Kingdoms Adventure Park, and Bird World are all great days out.

This semi-detached holiday cottage, attached to the owners home, is located in a peaceful, rural setting along a quiet lane, and is surrounded by beautiful countryside. The historic market town of Romsey, 3 miles, is often referred to as ’the jewel in the crown of Hampshire’, with Romsey Abbey, King John’s House and a variety of independent shops, cafés and restaurants making it a popular place to visit. The cities of Winchester and Salisbury both have magnificent cathedrals, historic buildings and excellent shopping and leisure facilities. Stockbridge and Southampton are also a short drive away. Broadlands and Hilliers Gardens are nearby, the New Forest and the coast are within easy reach. The National Trust owned Mottisfont Abbey is just up the road, and the River Test is on the doorstep for fishing. Paultons Park, the home of Peppa Pig World makes a fantastic day out for families. This recent barn conversion offers a real country charm and is the ideal place to enjoy a long weekend and escape to the country. It is an idyllic base from which to explore this stunning part of the New Forest and Dorset. All the accommodation - Larch Cottage (ref UK36198) Ash Hill (ref UK36199), Homewood (ref UK36205) and Sika Cottage (UK36194) adjoin one another and can be booked together to accommodate 20 guests, with the owners’ permission. All the properties have polished concrete floors with rugs and are furnished using natural woods of differing origins; each property has a stunning feature glass staircase. All the cottages have their own enclosed area with firepit and barbecue with outside seating. There is also a pizza oven shared between the four properties and can be booked on request.

Larch Cottage has wonderful views overlooking the woods and has a study on the first floor which is an ideal place to work if required. There is also a rustic play area for children and freshly laid eggs daily from the on-site chickens! For guests who may wish to bring a horse, the owners offer a stabling option by prior arrangement.

For those that like the outdoor lifestyle this will make the ideal retreat; there is on-site archery, axe throwing and fishing in the River Avon (licence required). Nearby there is horse riding, the New Forest Water Park, for kayaking and other water sports. For those bringing dogs, there are plenty of excellent walk, many of which offer great bird and wildlife spotting.
Places to visit include Alderholt Mill, which has a working watermill open to visitors and offers cream teas at the weekend during the summer, and Moors Valley Country Park and Forest, which has Go Ape, orienteering, cycle hire, golf, forest Segway, walking groups, canoeing, petanque and craft making. Other places of interest include Beaulieu Motor Museum, Marwell Zoo, Paultons Park with Peppa Pig World, Adventure Wonderland, Monkey World, Bovington Tank Museum, New Forest Wildlife Park and maritime Southampton.

Cheriton is a pretty Hampshire village with a great traditional village pub, ’The Flower Pots’ famous for brewing its own award winning beer on site. The pub is a short stroll away and well worth a visit during your stay.
A little under 3 miles to the North you will find the pretty Georgian market town of Alresford, voted Country Life’s ’Favourite Market Town’. This is a must visit, with such a wide range of independent shops, pubs and eateries we are sure you will want to return!
The historic cathedral city of Winchester just 7 miles away is guaranteed to impress with a huge range of independent shops, bustling weekly markets, superb restaurants including the recently opened ’The Ivy’ and of course the impressive Cathedral and grounds.

Both properties have an outside marble bath tub perfect for gazing at the stars in the evening with a glass of wine. There is plenty to see and do in the area and it is an ideal location for exploring the borderlands of England and Wales, which is an area of pretty countryside and charming market towns. Llanidloes is a typical market town where local goods and produce are readily available, and the town itself boasts plenty of good quality restaurants and bars. Superb walking and cycling is available locally. The lodges are located 150 yards from cycle route 81 so it’s an ideal base for those exploring on two wheels. Llanidloes has over 30 separate way marked walking routes starting from the town centre. The spectacular scenery at Llyn Clywedog, a man-made reservoir just above the town along with Hafren Forest where you will find the source of the River Severn, also affords wonderful walking opportunities. The magnificent Elan Valley reservoirs are just 35 minutes away. And if mountains are your thing, Cadair Idris can be reached in under 1hour, Snowdonia in under 2 hours, and the Brecon Beacons in approximately 1hour 20minutes.
