Visit Pitlochry Dam and the Fish Ladder, with an excellent exhibition downstairs, interactive models on how electricity is created and salmon swimming up the fish ladder itself.
The town is home to the Caledonia Etape, an 81-mile circular cycle challenge, which traverses some of the most beautiful parts of Highland Perthshire. In the autumn, the Enchanted Forest is a real spectacle and well worth seeing, while the famous Theatre in the Hills, Pitlochry Festival Theatre has productions throughout the year. The town also boasts Queens Park, with its lake, walks and summer bandstand, as well as a museum and theatre. Close by you will find the impressive Elizabethan Hardwick Hall, with its six grand towers elaborately monogramed with Bess of Hardwick’s initials, overlooking the superb gardens and walled courtyards of the grounds.
