    You’ll be on the right track during your stay at The Station Master’s House, which forms part of the former railway station in the hamlet of Torver. Close to Coniston Water, this is an excellent starting point to explore the nearby countryside and wildlife, and the Lakeland Fells including Coniston Old Man. The property has been thoughtfully furnished throughout, with a well-equipped kitchen and a living/dining room which boasts comfy leather sofas. The property offers two double bedrooms, one of which has an additional single bed, and they both have sumptuous bed linen adding an extra comfort. They both enjoy views over the beautiful garden and surrounding area. This spacious cottage still has the distinctive feel of its former use, with a raised lawned terrace which is part of the old platform - the perfect place to sit and relax.
    The nearby Lakeland villages of Coniston and Hawkshead are idyllic and have an abundance of shops and cafés. For the more adventurous, why not take to the tree top challenge at Grizedale Forest, or venture along the many paths by foot or by bike. For steam enthusiasts, you can still take to the tracks with a ride on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite trains near Ulverston, or the elegant Victorian Steam Yacht Gondola which sails between March and November on Coniston Water.     The front door opens into the open plan living/dining area which is a welcoming area to socialise in, either around the table over a game of cards or by sitting in front of a roaring log fire. The kitchen is well-appointed with all the amenities and equipment you require to prepare a picnic or Sunday roast dinner. Upstairs are three bedrooms comprising a master bedroom with a double bed, a twin bedroom and a single bedroom. The accommodation is completed with two bathrooms, one with a bath and the second with a shower cubicle. There are shared gardens with the adjoining property, and the properties share access to a barn which offers table tennis, pool and table football. Pets are also allowed.
    The immediate area around the cottage is a walkers’ and cyclists’ paradise with a selection of fells, pikes and woods to explore. Within 30 minutes’ drive you can be at Coniston Water, the site of the famous Donald Campbell water speed world record. A short 10 minutes’ drive away is the market town of Broughton-in-Furness. Broughton has excellent amenities including a selection of local shops, a tourist information centre and petrol station. In and around Broughton you will also find some of the excellent pubs, including several award winners, many offering good quality food alongside their real ales and roaring fires, you will be spoilt for choice as to where to dine out.
    For a family day out there is plenty to offer such as South Lakes Safari Zoo at nearby Dalton, Muncaster Castle with its owl sanctuary, Eskdale Miniature Railway, the Lakes Aquarium and boat trips on Coniston Water and Lake Windermere. You’ll never be short of something to do.
