Stunning valleys and sweeping hillside views can be enjoyed from the idyllic location of the cottage. You could almost be anywhere in the world, close your eyes and listen to the silence interrupted only by bird song. Cycle tracks, bridle paths and walkways abound from the doorstep with quaint little villages popping up when you least expect it.
It is just 1 mile from the well-known village of Goathland best known for its connections with Heartbeat, indeed Hill Farm in which The Dairy sits was used for many of the film shoots. The village green is lined with quaint curio shops, inns and tea rooms serving some of Yorkshire’s finest cuisine. You can board the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Train here and take a memorable journey through the glorious Esk Valley as it steams its way across the valleys into the historic market town of Pickering. The ancient sea port of Whitby is just a short drive over the moors, eight miles, a colourful harbour leads to the three mile stretch of sandy beach overlooked and almost protected by the ancient abbey ruins and St Mary’s church. The brave (and fit) can take the 199 steps up to the abbey ruins where panoramic views over Whitby across to Sandsend can be enjoyed. Explore the smugglers coves of Robin Hoods Bay, Runswick Bay and Staithes or visit the more elegant seaside resort of Scarborough, Britain’s first ever seaside resort. The beautiful village of Brompton lies 8 miles to the west of Scarborough, a tranquil picturesque village home to the church where the poet William Wordsworth married. A picture postcard village with a small stream running down to a picnic area. Here you can feed the ducks and watch the swans and other wildlife.
The farmer’s hens roam freely around the village which gives that feeling of really being in the countryside and amongst the farming community. The house is in a quiet area next to the church and benefits from a large enclosed garden with woodland areas and lots of space for the children to run and play. There’s a Wendy house and a summer house that serve as a getaway for the kids, with game consoles and a TV. The main house has a large open plan living, dining and kitchen area with wonderful large windows that overlook the garden. The property benefits from having 3 bathrooms.
On the first floor there is a mezzanine area that leads to two further bedrooms that are linked by an open plan passage way with a bathroom, perfect for a family to have their own floor and have the children close by.
The seaside resort of Scarborough is just 8 miles away and is a traditional resort with two large beaches and plenty for all age groups to do.
Lawnswood is just two miles from the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, where there are fantastic walks and trails that lead up to the Dalby Forest. The forest is famous for its bike trails and in the past has been home to the World Championship Mountain Bike event. The visitor centre within the forest is popular all year round with its great café and the events that are organised for the children throughout the year. It’s also home to ‘Go Ape’ a high ropes adventure course with zip wires and swings.
