Located within the grounds of Broughton Hall, the property features spacious living and ample outdoor space. The ground floor is accessed via the kitchen door and is comprised of a downstairs bedroom (double or twin), kitchen, dining room, sitting room, shower room and toilet. On the first floor you’ll find two bedrooms (double or twin) and two bathrooms, each with a shower and bath. Outside the property are its original outbuildings and a pleasant garden area overlooking peaceful woodlands. As part of your stay, you’ll have free, exclusive access to England’s largest rewilding estate. So you can spend time together in nature, wandering ancient woodlands, cycling moorland trails, or enjoying picnics by the riverside. It’s a country getaway like no other.
For a relaxing day out venture further into the Yorkshire Dales to the picturesque villages of Grassington, 12 miles, and Kettlewell, 5 miles further, calling at Kilnsey Trout Farm on the way and a stop off to watch the climbers hang off Kilnsey Crag. Many walks and cycle routes for all abilities can be found here and all around the area. Country pubs serving local produce are within easy reach should you wish to dine out during your stay, with the closest just 500 yards away and easily reached via a stroll through the estate grounds. Top Lodge provides a tranquil retreat away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life but will come alive when filled with your family and friends, yet is within very easy reach of the main town of Skipton and surrounding attractions, what more could you want. The beautiful village of Brompton lies 8 miles to the west of Scarborough, a tranquil picturesque village home to the church where the poet William Wordsworth married. A picture postcard village with a small stream running down to a picnic area. Here you can feed the ducks and watch the swans and other wildlife.
The farmer’s hens roam freely around the village which gives that feeling of really being in the countryside and amongst the farming community. The house is in a quiet area next to the church and benefits from a large enclosed garden with woodland areas and lots of space for the children to run and play. There’s a Wendy house and a summer house that serve as a getaway for the kids, with game consoles and a TV. The main house has a large open plan living, dining and kitchen area with wonderful large windows that overlook the garden. The property benefits from having 3 bathrooms.
On the first floor there is a mezzanine area that leads to two further bedrooms that are linked by an open plan passage way with a bathroom, perfect for a family to have their own floor and have the children close by.
The seaside resort of Scarborough is just 8 miles away and is a traditional resort with two large beaches and plenty for all age groups to do.
Lawnswood is just two miles from the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, where there are fantastic walks and trails that lead up to the Dalby Forest. The forest is famous for its bike trails and in the past has been home to the World Championship Mountain Bike event. The visitor centre within the forest is popular all year round with its great café and the events that are organised for the children throughout the year. It’s also home to ‘Go Ape’ a high ropes adventure course with zip wires and swings.
Lawnswood is a perfect base to visit the Yorkshire Wolds, the North York Moors and the East Coast. Beach 9 miles. Shop 300 yards, pub 2 miles, restaurant 1 mile.
