The Sycamores is a charming semi detached property situated on a quiet side street in the quaint village of Hunmanby on the stunning Yorkshire coastline just a short drive from the traditional seaside town of Filey. It is the perfect place from which to enjoy a relaxing Yorkshire holiday. Surprisingly spacious, and renovated throughout, this well presented bungalow has a real cosy feel to it and offers first class accommodation. The kitchen is well planned and offers a gas hob with an electric oven, dishwasher as well as a washer/dryer. There is even a comfy arm chair where you can take a seat, enjoy a glass of wine whilst watching someone else do the cooking. The large living/dining room sits to the front of the property and is flooded with natural light from the large picture window. A large sofa takes centre stage in front of the warming gas fire, an ideal spot to cosy up on during the evening to watch your favourite holiday movie on the large Smart TV. Along the corridor is the house bathroom with bath and shower over. The accommodation is completed by a double bedroom, slide open the cupboard doors and you’ll find the hidden TV or perhaps in the morning throw open the French doors and enjoy an early morning coffee before getting ready for the day ahead. To the rear of the enclosed garden is a sunken seating area with fire pit, a lovely space to sit and relax after a long day exploring the local area.
Two miles away is the stunning Hunmanby Gap, a popular beach with locals, which offers a friendly café during the summer months. The delightful seaside town of Filey is a little further up the coast and has a variety of quaint tea rooms, restaurants and independent shops. Enjoy a stroll along the promenade with its brightly painted beach huts, ornamental gardens and cafés, or wander down to the coble landing, with its fishing boats and seafood stalls. The Sycamores offers easy access to the Cleveland Way, which is a 109 mile footpath across the moors and along the coast of the North York Moors, with many interesting sites and historical buildings to enjoy on the way. A visit to this area would not be complete without a walk to the nearby Flamborough headlands or an afternoon at the Bempton RSPB Reserve. There’s no better way to start the day than with a hearty full English breakfast and a good coffee out in the sun, and during the winter, you can snuggle up together in front of the electric fire. Situated at Staithes, near Whitby, these former World War I army bunkers are in an idyllic position close to the countryside and sea. Four of the barracks have been ingeniously and tastefully transformed to provide good quality accommodation retaining much rustic character and charm. The remaining four lodges retain their near original condition as a visual reminder of their former function. Each refurbished lodge has the added advantage of free parking, an outdoor sitting area and bike parking racks.
Situated just off the Cleveland Way, there are many fine moorland and cliff top walks. There is a golf course and driving range in Brotton, 6¾ miles away, and at Scaling Reservoir, 7¼ miles, there is sailing and fishing. There is a leisure centre 2 miles down the road and a 2-minute stroll down the cobbled street brings you to the centre of the picturesque fishing village with its small harbour nestling beneath rugged cliffs. Step back in time and walk the quaint narrow passages, as Captain James Cook himself must have done. Here in Staithes there are village shops, pubs, cafés and a restaurant, and in 2020 the village was featured on the BBC programme ’Gone Christmas Fishing’ with Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer. Why not travel on Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Express (the North Yorkshire Moors Railway) through ’Heartbeat’ country, or visit Whitby and its famous abbey which is 11 miles away.

The hamlet of Wrench Green is situated on the southern edge of the North York Moors National Park, and is set amongst the most beautiful countryside close to the village of Hackness. The location is one of the most picturesque areas in Yorkshire, with fantastic walks and bike rides right on your doorstep. Head off on a woodland walk or follow some of the routes of the Tour de Yorkshire on your bike. The Dalby Forest is close by, home to the World Mountain Bike Championships. Have a go yourself on the world cup trails, or there are tracks to suit all abilities. With over 8,000 acres of woodland with wonderful walks and nature trails, this is an outdoor enthusiasts paradise. The cottage makes a great base from which to visit the North York Moors National Park, the east coast, Yorkshire Wolds and the many wonderful market towns that Yorkshire is famous for. The summerhouse is a self-contained unit of its own and can be used either as a double bedroom or a summerhouse, again with spectacular views from the bi-folding doors onto a large decking area. Ivy Cottage is situated in Beck Hole, one of Yorkshire’s best kept secrets, and just outside the village of Goathland. This stunning cottage is just a short walk from one of the smallest pubs in the UK, known for its traditional ales and warm friendly welcome. Stunning valleys and sweeping hillside views can be enjoyed from the idyllic location. Cycle tracks, bridle paths and walkways abound from the doorstep with quaint little villages popping up when you least expect it.
Nearby Whitby is increasingly popular with holiday makers all year round as it has something to offer all the family, including 3 miles of golden beach, donkey rides and ice creams. Other things to do include rock pooling, climbing the 199 steps to the Gothic Whitby Abbey, which was made famous by Bram Stoker’s Dracula, or taking a stroll along the cobbled streets and taking in some of the older parts of town with its Jet Stone boutiques. Whitby has an up and coming foody scene too, with everything from Michelin star restaurants to award-winning fish and chips, tea rooms and family friendly pubs and bars, many offering live entertainment. There is also the golf course and many boats offering tourist trips out to sea in search of seals, dolphins and even whales in the right season.
The Yorkshire Heritage Coast is dotted with hidden gems such as Staithes and Runswick Bay to the north, and Robin Hood’s Bay to the south. Robin Hood’s Bay can be reached along the Cinder Track walk and cycle way, and the Cleveland Way also makes its way along the tops of cliffs and into the some of the bays, offering superb photo opportunities along its path. Take a steam train ride from Whitby right into Heartbeat Country and Goathland. The North York Moors National Park is right on your doorstep, with its 100s of walking routes which take in the Falling Foss Waterfall and The Moors National Park Centre. There are pushchair and wheelchair friendly woodland and riverside trails around the grounds.
