Tucked away in a peaceful and secluded village setting, these five comfortably furnished holiday cottages are set in an idyllic location, only 5 miles from the spectacular Bamburgh Castle and one of the longest sandy beaches in England, and within a few minutes’ drive of Seahouses, where regular boat trips depart for the Farne Islands. Between the Cheviots and the sea, there is easy touring through the beautiful countryside with its numerous castles, stately homes and NT properties. Furnished to a high standard, and close to the owners’ home, Fordson offers single-storey accommodation and Ferguson is a detached two-storey cottage. The Mill House stands as a detached converted barn, with Waren View and The Granary Cottage forming an adjoining pair. This is an ideal choice for family holidays, with use of a very pleasant lawned area by a stream. There is also shared use of the owners’ hard tennis court nearby.
Warenford Village serves as an excellent base from which to discover Northumberland and the Scottish border country. Just 4 miles distant lies Budle Bay, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, as well as an SSSI, with the ancient walled town of Berwick-upon-Tweed (15 miles) and the Duchess of Northumberland’s ornamental gardens a short drive away. Created to rival the best in Europe, the gardens are contemporary in design and include waterfalls and cascading plumes set within landscaped grounds with themed planted areas. Also sure to delight both young and old alike is a visit to neighbouring Alnwick Castle, which served as the location for the Harry Potter films. Home of the Percy family, it stands as the second largest inhabited castle in England after Windsor Castle, with some of its rooms open to the public and displaying a wealth of decorative and fine art.
Within easy reach, too, is Holy Island – renowned for its medieval religious heritage, priory and picturesque castle – and also known by its Anglo-Saxon name of Lindisfarne. Accessed by a paved causeway at low tide, the island is popular with bird-watchers and nature lovers, with the north-western portion of the island being maintained as a nature reserve, where terns, plovers and seals can be observed. Whilst on the island, a trip to The Museum of Island Life will reveal former living and working conditions there, and St Aidan’s Winery tempts visitors with its sweet concoction of local Lindisfarne Mead.
There are quiet country lanes for cycling and several excellent golf courses nearby, as well as a selection of shops in Belford (3 miles) and good inns and restaurants in which to enjoy a family meal locally – the nearest pub with restaurant being just 30 yards.

Each lodge boasts a super, open plan living, dining and kitchen area. The living area is spacious and comfortable with a wood burner and views out across the fields. The furnishings are of an excellent standard and the kitchens are fully fitted with all appliances including gas hob, electric oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. The family bathrooms all boast a great shower, heated towel rail and ample storage space for toiletries. Coria Lodge (ref UKC4416) has been adapted to accomodate wheelchair users, with disabled parking, extra wide ramp access, widened doorways, raised electrical sockets and hoist facilities. The low level entry bathroom has a large shower with bi-folding doors allowing wheelchair access, a grab rail and raised toilet. Each detached lodge also offers a private, 6-seater hot tub (Coria Lodge, ref UKC4416, has a hoist rail system installed) and garden area with garden furniture for sitting out and enjoying the location. Perfectly situated near to the banks of the River Derwent with a boat house and fishing permits available for a small fee, guests who enjoy river fishing will be spoilt for choice. Also just a few hundred yards from the Derwent Walkway as well as a variety of established public footpaths, walks and cycling routes, there is no better base for enjoying and exploring the local area. Seahouses, EnglandKia Ora Cottage is a south-facing, stone built, semi-detached, single-storey property on a small private development just a short stroll from the high street in Seahouses. It aptly named after the warm and welcoming Maori greeting, Kia Ora meaning hello, goodbye, welcome and good health.
The welcoming living room has a sofa and reclining chair, and a lovely bay window, the perfect place to snuggle up with a book, while a 55" Smart TV provides streaming for entertainment. A well-equipped kitchen provides for all culinary needs, and three large bedrooms (each with TV), give flexible sleeping options and ample storage; one has a door opening out onto the pretty garden. Outside is a beautiful rear enclosed, lawned garden benefitting from unobstructed sun for most of the day in summer, and two linked decking areas creating an ample outside seating/ eating area, ideal for your fish and chips supper.
Kia Ora Cottage has Corporate Membership of the Ocean Club in Seahouses, which is located adjacent to the Seafield Caravan Park. All guests are allowed to enter the club and use the restaurant as often as they wish without an entry fee. If you wish to use the swimming pool, gym, sauna, steam room, spa or other facilities, there is a charge of £9 per adult/£5 per child. This charge applies whilst using any of these facilities on site, but if you leave the building and return a few hours later you would have to repay the entry fee. Dogs are allowed into the restaurant only through the door to the left and within that specific area. It is a first class club with excellent facilities and service and ideal for those rainy days. Access to the Club is through the main Seafield car park; after entering turn right after 100 yards and through the barrier. On foot, you can access that area through a number of pathways along the Main Street between the shops.

Seahouses offers a wide array of facilities including tearooms, restaurants, pubs and shops. Boat trips to the Farne Islands run from the nearby harbour; the islands are famous for their nesting seabirds and grey seal colonies. Horse riding is available on the cusp of the village, and there is an impressive golf course on the links close by. The picture postcard village of Bamburgh, protected by its dramatic fortress, is only 2 miles north with its wide expanse of golden, and often empty, sandy beaches, and where the tidal island of Lindisfarne, locally known as Holy Island and the birthplace of Christianity, can be viewed. A further 2 miles up the coastline brings you to Waren Mill, which is steeped in history. Once an important port, its harbour has long since disappeared, silted up beneath the sands of the estuary.
