Boat trips run from the nearby harbour to the Farne Islands, famous for their nesting seabirds and grey seal colonies.
The picture postcard village of Bamburgh, dominated by its majestic castle, is only 2 miles north, where there is a wide expanse of golden, and often empty sandy beaches. The tidal island of Lindisfarne, locally known as Holy Island, can be seen from the beach and is accessible via a causeway twice daily. A further 2 miles up the coastline brings you to Waren Mill, which is steeped in history. Once an important port, its harbour has long since disappeared, silted up beneath the sands of the estuary. Budle Bay is a bird sanctuary and at low tide a vast expanse of mud flats is home to thousands of sea and land birds, making this location a haven for bird watchers. The historic market town of Alnwick, with its own castle, offers many facilities, just a short drive inland. Swansfield Stables is situated on the outskirts of Alnwick and enjoys a tranquil setting on a smallholding. The original stables is thought to have been designed by the acclaimed 19th century Newcastle architect John Dobson. At the rear of Swansfield Stables there is a peaceful cobbled courtyard which gives access to a detached former cart shed, which has been beautifully transformed to create this self-catering holiday accommodation. The open plan living space covers the entire ground floor where a wood burner creates a cosy ambience. The family bedroom and shower room are on the first floor and immaculately presented throughout.

The welcoming owners of Swansfield Stables are conveniently on hand giving ample privacy to guests but happy to help ensure visitors enjoy their stay. There is shared use of a wood fired pizza oven available along with outdoor furniture; an idyllic spot to dine al fresco.

There is a wide array of amenities available within the heart of the historic market town of Alnwick, most within half a mile. Alnwick Garden is a popular tourist attraction where there is a spectacular Cascade Waterfall and restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe. Alnwick Castle is also well worth a visit.

The picturesque town of Rothbury, which sits at the foot of the Simonside Hills, is a short drive to the west. The National Trust property at Cragside is situated on the edge of Rothbury and is nestled within 1000 acres to explore.

Heron House, a great three bedroom family house is located here in Berwick upon Tweed, just yards from the River Tweed. The local beaches in both Berwick and nearby Spittal are some of the best in the area, and the property enjoys a convenient location for accessing the facilities within Berwick town centre, in addition to the attractions up and down the Northumberland and Berwickshire coast.
The property provides accommodation over two floors. On the ground level there is a comfortable living room with wood burner and a generous dining room and kitchen. Slaley is a delightful Northumberland village, perfect for walkers, cyclists and ramblers as there are many routes to take that lead directly from The Old Chapel and out into the beautiful countryside. There are two pubs in the village so after a day exploring, just take a short stroll and you can enjoy a well earned meal or drink.
The market town of Hexham is only 6 miles away and offers a variety of shops and restaurants. Enjoy the historical sites the town has to offer at Hexham Abbey or the Old Gaol. A must visit is to the pretty little village of Corbridge, again only 6 miles away.

Kia Ora Cottage is a south-facing, stone built, semi-detached, single-storey property on a small private development just a short stroll from the high street in Seahouses. It aptly named after the warm and welcoming Maori greeting, Kia Ora meaning hello, goodbye, welcome and good health.

Kia Ora Cottage has Corporate Membership of the Ocean Club in Seahouses, which is located adjacent to the Seafield Caravan Park. All guests are allowed to enter the club and use the restaurant as often as they wish without an entry fee. If you wish to use the swimming pool, gym, sauna, steam room, spa or other facilities, there is a charge of £9 per adult/£5 per child. This charge applies whilst using any of these facilities on site, but if you leave the building and return a few hours later you would have to repay the entry fee. Dogs are allowed into the restaurant only through the door to the left and within that specific area. It is a first class club with excellent facilities and service and ideal for those rainy days. Access to the Club is through the main Seafield car park; after entering turn right after 100 yards and through the barrier. On foot, you can access that area through a number of pathways along the Main Street between the shops.
