Only two minutes walk to the town centre, yet in a quiet location this comfortable, end of terrace holiday home is an ideal base for exploring. Alnwick Castle, used in the Harry Potter films, and Alnwick Gardens are nearby. Explore the heritage coastline or visit Holy Island via the causeway, Bamburgh with its magnificent castle or Seahouses for boat trips to the Farne Islands. Cut off from the mainland twice a day to create a semi-island, the Holy Island of Lindisfarne allows visitors to experience complete tranquillity and timelessness. This Grade II listed fishermen’s cottage is ideally placed to enjoy this unique location.

There is a book library in both properties with information about the history of the local area, and also a selection of unique postcards that each tell a story and show how the island has changed throughout the years. A DVD of the TV programme Time Team is available showing their visits to the island and excavations carried out.

The island, a fine walking and bird watching destination, is dominated by 16th century Lindisfarne Castle, standing dramatically on a rocky outcrop – the ruins of Lindisfarne Priory, the 7th century seat of Christian learning and where the Lindisfarne Gospels were created.

The road from the island was opened in 1954 by Queen Elizabeth II and on the mainland are Northumberland’s many delights within easy driving distance; Bamburgh Castle, Seahouses for boat trips to the Farne Islands’ bird and seal colonies, and Alnwick Castle and Gardens.

The cottage offers contemporary comfort yet retains its original charm and character, with bespoke designer oak table and chairs and is within walking distance of the harbour and long sandy beaches. The property is designed for couples, but offers a stowaway Z-bed for one additional friend or child. Though each property is completely self-contained, a lockable interconnecting door allows both cottages to be booked by a single family or group (maximum sleeps 4+2). Local carry-out meals available. Stable Cottage is the former coach house and stables of the Dower House to Belford Hall, on the outskirts of the pretty village of Belford. The cottage is ideally suited for one or two couples, or for a relaxing family self-catering holiday. The cottage enjoys lovely open views across fields to the sea and offers all modern facilities, yet retains its character and is tastefully furnished. Shops, farm shop and pubs all within a very short walk.
The pretty village of Bamburgh with its dramatic castle and wide golden sandy beach is only 5 miles away. The historic market towns of Alnwick to the south and Berwick-Upon-Tweed to the north are both approx. 15 miles away and offer a wide range of facilities.

Waggy Tails is a welcoming, pet-friendly property located in the heart of the traditional fishing village of Seahouses. With two separate living rooms, both situated on the ground floor, this semi-detached property is deceptively spacious. The cosy sitting room leads to the kitchen, where on arrival, guests will find complementary teas and coffee, and also giving direct access to a fully enclosed garden. The living room leads to the main dining area where sliding patio doors enhances its bright and airy ambience. Both bedrooms are on the first floor along with the bathroom and convenient separate toilet.
The main street of Seahouses is within easy walking distance where there is a small supermarket and a range of other local shops along with several places to eat. The golf course is on the links close by and horse riding can be arranged less than a mile inland. A gentle stroll brings you to the harbour where boat trips to the Farne Islands, famous for its puffins and seal colony, are a popular visitor attraction.
Two miles south is the beautiful golden sands of Beadnell Bay, very popular with water sports enthusiasts, whilst 3 miles up the coastline is the picture perfect village of Bamburgh, and the dramatic castle is well worth a visit. A few miles inland is the historic market town of Alnwick where there are a wide array of amenities available.

Bramble Cottage is situated in the highly sought after traditional fishing village of Craster. The accommodation is immaculately presented throughout and enjoys a lovely homely ambience. The tastefully furnished living room, which has a wood burner for those cosy nights in, leads to a separate dining room with traditional hatch connecting to the kitchen. All three beautifully presented bedrooms are situated on the first floor along with a pristine family bathroom. The cottage sits at the end of a terrace only a gentle stroll from Craster sea shore. The lovely garden is full of mature shrubs and flowers and has a patio area suitable for dining al fresco. There is also a gorgeous summer house (The Beach Hut), an idyllic spot to snuggle in and relax. Bramble Cottage is a mere gentle stroll from the seashore of Craster. This picturesque coastal village is home to the renowned ‘Craster Kipper’; a smoked fish exported to food lovers across the country. Bramble Cottage has a private and gated drive for one vehicle only. If guests plan to bring a second vehicle or have visitors then the only option for this is the public car park, which is 220 yards away by foot and which costs £6.50 per day per car to park. This car park will become busy during peak periods, and there is no other public parking in the village.
There is a small, pretty harbour close by with a view northward along the rocky shore to the spectacular ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle. Explore the 20 miles of Northumberland Heritage Coastline recognised as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with its walking trails and cycling routes. The welcoming village of Embleton is only 3 miles north with its wide sweep of golden sandy beach which has won the public poll of ‘Beach of the Year’ in the 2017 BBC Countryfile Magazine Awards. Beadnell Bay is a further 4 miles north and a popular destination for water-sports enthusiasts, including sailing, sea kayaking, wind surfing and scuba diving. Two miles further up the coastline is the traditional fishing port of Seahouses, where boat trips to the nearby Farne Islands, famous for its bird sanctuaries and seal colony, depart regularly from its harbour. The picture perfect village of Bamburgh, snuggled in the shadow of its majestic castle is a further 3 miles north. Just 7 miles inland from Bramble Cottage is the bustling market town of Alnwick, with its own dramatic castle (and film location for Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Academy). Visitors can enjoy a trip to Alnwick Garden, a spectacular interpretation of a formal garden including the Grand Cascade waterfall and restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe. Set in Amble’s town centre, ROK House is set back off the road only a few hundred yards from the local amenities and only a short walk to the harbour in this small friendly fishing town. Built in 1935, refurbished in 2018, this terraced home offers the perfect base for families looking to explore Northumberland. The living room has a 49" Smart TV with Freeview and is a great area to relax in. ROK House also has a large open plan living, dining and kitchen area to enjoy those family meals or lazy mornings at the large breakfast bar. Amble has a friendly port with a working harbour, marina and small beach, and you can also find some small pod style shops, popular on a Sunday when the busy market takes place. Around the harbour are some small fish restaurants as well as two fish and chip shops and an Italian style ice cream shop with a fantastic range of ice cream. Boat trips are available here to Coquet Island to see the RSPB bird sanctuary. The historic village of Warkworth is only 2 miles away and makes a lovely walk along the river admiring the view of Warkworth Castle which often holds events through the year. There are pubs, bespoke shops and further opportunities to explore all with free parking, it is a popular place to visit. A few minutes drive from here is the town of Alnwick with its cobbled streets and famous castle which has featured in Harry Potter and Downton Abbey. Alnwick Gardens, with its spectacular grand cascade waterfall and the worlds largest treehouse restaurant should not be missed. Amble is on the edge an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, along the Heritage Coast with some of the most unspoilt beaches and picturesque villages in England, with plenty of walking and cycle paths, and fishing can also be found nearby. Amble is a great location for exploring the whole of this unspoilt county with all the amenities you need on your doorstep. Stop at one of the glorious sandy beaches or drop into Craster for some famous Craster kippers. Don’t miss a trip over to Holy Island, checking the tide for the causeway times.
