Just a 60-second walk from Crieff town centre where you will find an abundance of high quality restaurants and local shops. The Crieff Hydro Hotel is less than a 10-minute walk where over 60 activities including archery, air rifles, quad bikes and aerial adventure courses are held.
All the rooms are spacious and airy with stunning views over to the Ochil Hills to the west. Designed by William Bell circa 1899, Dunvarlich House is a superb example of Arts and Crafts movement architecture and has a Historic Scotland listing category B. The house occupies a stunning position with breathtaking views overlooking the River Tay, with its 18th-century stone bridge, glens and mountains beyond. To the front of the house there are steps that lead down to a beautiful river walk. The house is entered by an Oriental-style vestibule with pale green stained glass, opening into a long, imposing hall and has been lovingly restored and elegantly furnished with antiques for discerning guests and families. It boasts original oak panelling in the drawing room, wood-burning stove, glass sun porch and a quaint, original cloakroom. A double staircase sweeps up either side of a fireplace with log burning stove, leading to four generous bedrooms and two large Victorian bathrooms. The caretakers are resident in a completely separate private rear wing.

Set on the edge of the pretty town of Aberfeldy it combines excellent local amenities including a delicatessen, butcher, galleries, bookshops, restaurants, antique shops and swimming-pool all within easy walking distance with the peace and tranquillity of country living. There is a golf course, putting green, bowling green, play park, tennis courts, river rafting and rock climbing all close by, as well as kayaking, sailing, sauna and gym. In the heart of glorious Highland Perthshire, this fabulous lodge is set in a wonderful position overlooking the loch and deer park at Glengoulandie. This small country park covers 35 acres and is situated between Aberfeldy and Pitlochry, surrounded by stunning scenery – the famous peak of Schiehallion is just down the road.
Spacious, smart, yet warm and welcoming, the lodge features patio doors from the open plan living/dining and kitchen areas, opening onto a large fully enclosed deck running the full width of the lodge. High ceilings, full length windows and underfloor heating make it a light and airy as well as cosy throughout the year. You will not tire of looking at the water and mountains beyond, with the ever-changing light. Grocery deliveries to the lodge can be arranged by booking an online delivery slot from nearby supermarkets.
The loch and surroundings are brimming with wildlife – geese and ducks are resident most of the year and a wide selection of other birds and wildlife are often seen, as well as squirrels, pine marten and of course the deer. There are good walks from the doorstep – take a circular route through the deer farm beyond the loch and back again or try more challenging options up any of the seven Munros within 10 miles; Schiehallion itself or Ben Lawers, the highest mountain in the region. Cycling and mountain biking are popular round here, with amazing views and challenging roads.
For a more leisurely day out, visit the pretty conservation village of Kenmore (5 miles) at the northern end of Loch Tay. There are water sports aplenty here such as sailing, canoeing, water-skiing, jet-biking, or if you prefer to stay on dry land fishing, pony trekking and golf. Good eateries and shops will complete a great day out. Aberfeldy is only a 20 minutes’ drive with local interesting independent shops, a supermarket, galleries, eating places, a community-run cinema and an award-winning book shop.
The famous Dewar’s Whisky Distillery offers tour and sampling and there are riverside walks and white water rafting for the more adventurous. A Highland safari takes you up into the mountains to see local wildlife including deer, peregrine falcons, ospreys and golden eagles. The most recent addition to the collection, Kingfisher Cottage (UK38211) is a renovated, detached, single-storey luxury cottage, tucked way down a farm track. With two stylish bedrooms and beautiful quality furnishings throughout, the high ceilinged open plan living room/kitchen features an eyecatching wood burner flanked by full length picture windows, making the most of the view for the ultimate relaxing experience. Islabank Farmhouse (ref SAAP) is a traditional, characterful, comfortable farmhouse which is ideal for families. Curlew Cottage (ref SYYJ) is a charming, beautifully converted, detached, single-storey property and a haven for wildlife. Still part of the farm but located 4 miles away is Osprey Cottage (ref UZQ), a delightful, light and sunny, single-storey detached cottage.
Set amongst beautiful farmland and fruit-growing country, they make an excellent choice for relaxing breaks in the heart of rural Perthshire. The estate makes an ideal base for exploring central Scotland, Edinburgh, Perth, St Andrews and the Highlands. Glamis Castle is a few miles away. Situated in the picturesque town of Aberfeldy in Highland Perthshire, Tayberry Cottage will appeal to couples and families, with outdoor activities, magnificent scenery, great places to eat on your doorstep. Renovated in 2021 to a high standard while maintaining character and charm, this traditional semi-detached stone cottage makes a welcoming and comfortable holiday home at any time of year. The cottage is entered by a small porch into the living/dining room with a wood burner, comfortable seating and dining table. The bright kitchen is fitted with modern appliances and a breakfast bar, well-equipped for preparing a meal. A handy utility room leads to the large shower room, with a glass-screened walk-in shower. On the first floor are two well-presented bedrooms, the main bedroom with a kingsize bed and the second bedroom with twin beds.

Tayberry Cottage is set back from the main street in a quiet location. Whilst we welcome up to two well behaved dogs, please be aware the cottage has no outdoor space available for pet use, however Victoria Park is only 5 minutes’ walk. We’re not able to offer scenic views but the cottage makes up for this with location and charm. A great selection of restaurants, coffee shops, bars and a traditional high street with butchers, bakers and supermarkets, delis and galleries all within a few minutes’ walk. The community run local cinema has an up-to-date programme and is just a short walk from your door. The River Tay passes through the town and there are walks in all directions up into the hills or along the riverside; The Birks of Aberfeldy is a good family walk following a waterfall.

A short drive takes you to the village of Kenmore at the head of Loch Tay, which has shingle beach and breath-taking views down the loch. There are water sports, loch cruises, a friendly local shop and post office, a café, a deli, restaurants and the oldest Inn in Scotland. Croft na Caber Centre, a reconstruction of an Iron Age stilt dwelling built over the water, is ideal for all ages.

The area is well known for outdoor activities, with walking and climbing opportunities - the energetic can attempt Ben Lawers (Perthshire’s highest mountain). At the far end of the loch is Killin and the Falls of Dochart, and a superb drive from here to the Bridge of Balgie leads to the top of Glen Lyon. Golf is widely available throughout the region as well as horse riding, quad biking, cycling and wildlife spotting. To explore further afield, Dunkeld, Pitlochry, Aviemore and Perth make great days out.

Located in the picturesque conservation village of Comrie, on the River Earn and in the heart of rural Perthshire, Arden House is perfect for couples and families as holiday base. Dating back to the 1820s, this semi-detached property was home to the Co-operative manager during the 1900s. It was then purchased by the current owners in the 1970s, and recently refurbished in 2021. The house maintains many of the original features and character and is a comfortable and welcoming holiday home at any time of the year. The ground floor is taken up with a spacious living room, the real hub of the house, which has cosy seating. A dining room leads off there, and there is also a modern fitted kitchen. The back door leads to a small courtyard with seating and a barbeque for al fresco eating. The first floor has three well-presented, spacious bedrooms: one kingsize, one double and one twin. The family shower room offers a large walk-in shower.
Step outside and the local pub, cafés and restaurants are a few minutes’ walk away. If you’re planning to cook, the village is known for its quality local butcher, greengrocer, baker and deli, and there is also a small supermarket. The whole area is perfect for the outdoor enthusiast and boasts many walks right from the front door, as well as cycle routes on quiet track to explore. Nearby Lochearn offers water sports. If you like a round of golf on holiday there is a local 9-hole course and many others in the area, including the championship courses at Gleneagles.
A little further afield Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre appeals to all ages, and is home to great fly-fishing ponds. The tourist town of Crieff is only a 7-mile drive, with a famous whisky distillery, visitor’s centre and historic buildings. Drummond Castle makes for a superb day out, dating back to the 17th century and sitting amidst stunning gardens which were used in the filming of the epic TV series ‘Outlander’. Stirling and Perth are only 25 miles away. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing escape to unwind with gentle riverside walks surrounded by magnificent scenery and fine places to eat out, or an adventure packed family Arden House is the perfect base.

Escape to this splendid detached barn conversion in rural Perthshire, which is just a short drive from Auchterarder with its 1½-mile long high street lined with a splendid selection of eateries and bespoke shopping. Woodend Farm Barn nestles close to the owner’s home on Woodend Farm, now a 10-acre smallholding where Highland cattle and sheep graze. It was built well before the railway line, which is spanned by two beautiful bridges on the edge of the farm garden.
For many years, the farm operated as an 80-acre pig farm, but in 1999, a 10-acre section was sold off and the new owners completely transformed it. The farmhouse remained, but many of the sheds were taken down to leave just a small section, which was turned into stables. When the current owners took over in 2009, the barn itself was initially used as a machinery store and then a lambing shed, the barn has now been converted into a holiday home with a private hot tub, where guests can relax in the evening with a glass of wine in hand.

Alternatively just relax in the garden and enjoy the views, either in the hot tub, or from one of the outside seating areas which the owner has positioned to catch the best of the sunshine.
