Farriers Lodge is a delightful detached barn conversion set on a working horse stud farm in open countryside, just outside the village of Brandesburton. It provides the perfect base for exploring not only the stunning Yorkshire Wolds and east coast, but also the vibrant towns of Beverley and Driffield.
Bright and welcoming, this dog friendly property has an open plan living space with a large fireplace complete with wood burner and deep sofas. The kitchen and dining area provides all the mod cons to enable the chef in the group to cook delicious home-made fayre throughout the holiday. The central staircase is flooded with natural light from the overhead Velux window and leads to the first floor, where you will find two well-appointed, cosy bedrooms. Both rooms are lovingly furnished with vaulted ceilings. The cottage is tastefully decorated throughout and oozes traditional Yorkshire charm and character. Outside, the small courtyard has seating and enjoys the sun for the majority of the day. It also boasts a private hot tub, the perfect place to relax and enjoy your favorite holiday tipple. As a working stud farm, the owners offer the opportunity to look around and see some of their world class stallions, mares and foals (this can be arranged on arrival). For those with their own horses, stabling is available so your four legged friend can also enjoy a holiday (charges and additional T&Cs apply).
Fraisthorpe Beach is perfect for dog walking and horse riding and is popular with locals for exercising horses all year round. The village of Brandesburton is home to a couple of pubs offering traditional ales and bar meals, alongside a number of shops and restaurants. A short drive brings you to the pretty Wolds town of Beverley offering a host of independent shops, cafés and restaurants. A day at Beverley Races or a round of golf at one of the many local golf courses are sure to keep everyone entertained. The seaside town of Hornsea is on the doorstep and with pony rides, ice-cream and fish and chips is a lovely unspoilt family destination. There is so much to do and see in the surrounding area including the RSPB reserve at Bempton Cliffs and the Nature Reserve at Sprun Point. Beach 6 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 3 miles.

Nearby Pickering is a characterful town with a fine selection of independent shops, art galleries and antique shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants. From here you can take a ride on the famous steam train to Grosmont, Goathland (Aidensfield in the classic TV series ’Heartbeat’) and the seaside town of Whitby, where you can climb the 199 steps to Whitby Abbey. As such, they enjoy breath-taking views of the surrounding open countryside.
Walk direct from the door over the nearby moors or take a 5-minute stroll into the nearby traditional market town of Hawes. Here you will find a good mix of shops with something for everyone including antiques, traditional country clothing, fashion and gift shops interspersed with tea shops, restaurants and pubs. Alternatively visit the Wensleydale Creamery, famous for its cheese endorsed by Wallace and Gromit or visit the Dales Centre Museum. This wonderful detached cottage with wrap around private garden and hot tub is tucked away in peaceful countryside. Nestled near the village church within the very quaint, small and rural village of Norton Subcourse. It is within easy distance of the larger village of Loddon just a few minutes’ drive away and the pretty market town of Beccles, 14 minutes, with supermarkets, shops, cafés and regular market days.

Surrounded by open countryside, spectacular walks and excellent cycle routes can be enjoyed from the doorstep. The neighbouring village of Thurlton, ¾ miles, boasts a local shop and a friendly public house. The area has excellent road links providing easy access to both sandy beaches and the National Park Norfolk Broads for daily boat hire and river trips. Reedham Ferry, a chain linked ferry crossing, is just 2 miles away and takes you on a trip across the River Yare, with a pub serving good food awaiting on the opposite side, and miles more marshes and villages to explore.
Fishing is available along the River Yare (licence required). Enjoy a day trip to the medieval city of Norwich and explore its Norman castle, many museums, theatre and galleries. Suffolk coastline includes everything from traditional seaside resorts with good sandy beaches including Lowestoft, through to popular Southwold with its life boat museum, lighthouse, shops and pubs. Enjoy the thrills of Pleasurewood Hills American theme park, 12 miles away.
Relax and enjoy the tranquil grounds of Somerleyton Hall, 8 miles. Travel north to explore Cromer with its pier, working life boat centre, sandy beach and town centre. Blakeney Quay, historic Holt and the Royal Sandringham Estate are all within a 2 hour drive. For birdwatchers there are RSPB sites available locally. There are lots of amazing places to seek out which serve great seasonal and locally produced foods. There is plenty to see and do in and around the area. Less than a mile away is a good pub for families, which serves both food and drink. The closest beach for lazy summer walks, building sandcastles, sunbathing or indulging in bracing winter wanderings, is 10 minutes away by road, and the nearest golf course, North Shore, is the same distance away. Keen fishermen will enjoy the coarse fishing lakes just 300 yards away.
The town of Skegness has all the facilities you would expect of an established seaside town and modern commercial centre - shops, bars, pubs, restaurants, cafés, cinema, theatre, fun fair, seaside amusements, park, aquarium, sports and fishing facilities, as well as a hospital and excellent road and rail links. Carr House farmhouse is set on a working farm, but only minutes away from the attractions of Scarborough and only 1½ miles from the well known surfing beach at Cayton Bay, which also welcomes dog walkers throughout the year. Visitors of all ages will enjoy the large landscaped gardens with a summerhouse, apple trees and barbecue, with a perimeter fence making it ideal for both children and pets. This detached farmhouse is ideal for touring the North Yorkshire coast, from Whitby in the north to Bridlington in the south. A short journey inland takes you to the North York Moors, ’Heartbeat’ Country and Pickering for the steam railway, whilst York for its historic attractions is less than an hour away.

For activities nearby there is Dalby Forest for cycling and tree climbing, Wykeham Lakes for fishing, or the many beaches which offer the chance to just relax, sail, surf, sunbathe, paddle, and build sandcastles. Scarborough is a vibrant seaside resort with lots of family attractions, such as the waterpark, Sealife Centre and crazy golf, as well as a funfair, ice-cream parlours, amusements, and donkey rides. It also boasts superb live entertainment at the Open Air Theatre, with major acts booked each summer, and shows at the Scarborough Spa and the renowned Stephen Joseph Theatre. Beach 2 miles. The large kitchen is fully equipped with a farmhouse cooker with two ovens and an induction hob, a fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee machine, dishwasher and a washing machine. After a fun-filled day exploring Devon, gather your friends and family around the large dining table for a celebratory homecooked meal and relax on the comfortable sofas and armchairs or sit outside with a glass of wine and watch the sun go down.
