Strathpeffer and Dingwall are both close by and offer a selection of shops, restaurants, cafes and bars. Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, is a short drive away and has something for everyone including boat trips for dolphin watching, fishing on the River Ness, five golf courses (one being Castle Stuart which hosted the Scottish Open).
