Enjoying a wonderful setting with views over the picturesque town centre, harbour and out to open sea, these spacious, detached houses offer an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding area. No 4 (UK5569) has stunning views over the sea from most windows, and also from the hot tub. No 7 (UK5736) is situated next door to No 8 (UK5770) and has a spacious interior with pool table and hot tub to the rear, while No 8 also with a hot tub, has a first floor living room with pool table, bar and French doors leading out to the balcony.
Portpatrick is perfectly placed to enjoy the challenging uplands of the Galloway Hills, to the more gentle seaside trails, rolling moors and dramatic cliff-top walks. The Southern Upland Way passing close by presents the ideal focus from which to enjoy the many and varied shorter walks within the region. The dramatic scenery is home to a rich company of flora and fauna, with many unusual species including pine martens, golden eagle, ospreys, red deer, red squirrels and the natterjack toad.
The area has many renowned gardens to visit including the Botanic Gardens in Port Logan. Wigtown, Scotland’s official book town, is home to a charming gallery, and excellent cafés, and is located only a few miles from Bladnoch Distillery, where visitors can sample the local malt whisky. For fishermen the area offers a wide variety of opportunities including sea fishing from Portpatrick, and both trout and salmon fishing close by. Other country pursuits are available including shooting and riding. Golfers will feel equally at home in this area with Stranraer, Portpatrick and Lagganmore golf courses within a 20-minute drive, while Turnberry, with its world famous course is only 45 minutes away and also offers a spa, off road driving, quad biking activities and restaurant facilities. For the more active there are numerous cycle routes set out in stunning forestry commission surroundings, and cycle hire is available at these centres. Sailing is available via the local marina, and for those happy to travel slightly further afield there is the Galloway Sailing Centre, where visitors can also try windsurfing, canoeing and power boating. Cree lodge with its modern interior boasts stunning views over the Solway Firth and is located close to the village of Creetown and the town of Newton Stewart, with its many shops restaurants, cafés and pubs.

Situated on a working sheep and dairy farm, stabling is also available by prior arrangement, should you wish to bring your horse along too. The lodge is enviably located at the edge of the Galloway Forest Park, Britain’s largest forest park with three hundred square miles of wild beauty just waiting to be explored. The park boasts tranquil valleys, rugged rock faces, forest, moorland, lochs and ancient woodland alongside a huge diversity of wildlife including red and roe deer, wild goats and many birds of prey.

The park has also been awarded the status of one of only four Dark Sky Parks in the western world, and when the sun sets enthusiasts come to wonder at the universe revealed above. Dalmellington at the far end of the park is home to the Scottish Dark Observatory, and for the outdoor enthusiast nearby Galloway offers hill walking, mountain biking and water-sports, with many renowned gardens and ancient woodland to explore with a chance to glimpse the abundant wildlife.

The towns of Castle Douglas, ‘the food town’, Gatehouse of Fleet and Kirkcudbright, ‘the artist’s town’ are all within a short drive. The Soup Kitchen has played an important role in village life and the local community of Borgue over the last 150 years or so. You won’t find soup served in The Soup Kitchen today but you will find a stunning holiday home to call yours for the week.
This upside down house sits on the edge of the village and enjoys superb views. One particular feature is the spacious living room with floor to ceiling windows and patio doors opening onto a covered veranda, which makes the most of the views and is perfect for sitting enjoying the morning sun over breakfast. From the living room there is a kitchen, again allowing you to enjoy the views and a lovely dining room which overlooks the village. Venture outside and you will not be disappointed, a hot tub is situated in a purpose built cabin so you can enjoy the bubbles in rain, sleet or snow.
Starting life as a house, then a Free Church and a school, it then became apparent that there was no need for two schools in such a small community so it became a store. On the 5th of December 1844 the idea came about to ensure every child in the community had the opportunity to have a hot meal during the months of October to March, hence the name “The Soup Kitchen”.

Situated on a working cattle farm, this pair of detached cottages are in the ideal location to explore Dumfries and Galloway, from the Galloway Hills and the Galloway Forest Dark Skies Park, with many hidden lochs, burns and waterfalls, to the beautiful coastline with sandy beaches, rocky coves and picturesque villages. Terraughtie Cottage East is a delightful semi-detached cottage set along an unclassified road, on the outskirts of Dumfries, offering a lovely countryside location yet close enough for a lovely walk or cycle into town, around the local countryside or on the nearby cycle pathways. If fishing is your passion you can walk/cycle easily to Auldernauk Fishery from Terraughtie Cottage East, a most attractive and well stocked three acre fly-only loch holding good sized rainbow, blue, brown and tiger trout! A quiet and friendly family-owned fishery run by anglers.
If you can tear yourself away for a day sightseeing, the area is renowned for its rugged beauty from beautiful sandy beaches, cliff top walks and forest trails. The world renowned 7stanes mountain biking routes are also within easy reach. The area is well recognised for its clear skies as one of the 12 best stargazing sites in the world, with the Galloway Forest Park being the first Dark Sky Park in the UK. What a little gem of a cottage! The Haven is an absolute joy and has been completely refurbished in 2020, offering the most delightful accommodation. You really will not be disappointed when you walk through the door. The living room has a lovely wood burner and the kitchen/dining room are both modern and spacious, yet retain a lovely cottage feel. You will be spoilt for choice at The Haven, whether to sink into the deep bath or enjoy the dark skies in the garden from your very own hot tub. The garden to the rear can be accessed from the kitchen with seven steps leading down from the balcony and the garden is enclosed.
From The Haven some of you may be in heaven again, as 200 yards along the road is Bladnoch Distillery, which has a large visitor shop and offers guided tours.
