Lightkeeper’s Rest is tucked away down a quiet lane in the harbour town of Anstruther and has been furnished and equipped to a very good standard to ensure as comfortable and relaxing holiday as possible. You enter the cottage into the attractive kitchen/dining room which has been equipped for preparing a family meal. There are two well presented bedrooms, one which has an en-suite shower room and kingsize bed, and the other with twin beds. The bright, first floor living room is cosy and welcoming with comfortable seating and sea views.
Just a short walk takes you to the bustling harbour front with local boats landing their catch and leisure boats. There is plenty of place along the front to take refreshment from local bar, cafés and an award-winning fish and chip restaurant. Anstruther has cobbled lanes and historic buildings to explore, as well as two sandy beaches and rock pools. From April to September there are daily ferries and boat trips leaving from the harbour side to the Isle of May National Nature Reserve, which is home to colonies of sea birds, including puffins, and the surrounding waters are the habitat of seal colonies, a great day out for all.
Enjoy lovely walks along the Fife Coast Path which passes through Anstruther, leading to secluded coves, picturesque fishing villages and award-winning white sandy beaches. For a day out, St Andrews is well worth a visit with lots to do to suit all ages. There is a Sea Life Centre, sandy beach and harbour, great shopping with local shops as well as high street names, restaurants, pubs, bistros, historic buildings and museums. If you like a round of golf on your holiday, St Andrews is world famous as being the home of golf, with a family-friendly course as well as championship courses to play. Even more locally, the charming 9-hole Anstruther course is a four minute walk from the cottage.

The property is perfectly located between Limekilns and Rosyth and only 3 miles south of the royal city of Dunfermline. There is easy access to fantastic motorway links and train stations, making this the ideal base for days out exploring. Edinburgh is only 30 minutes’ drive away or 20 minutes on the train. There is excellent local shopping in nearby Rosyth, as well as a couple of restaurants. A stone’s throw away lie the picturesque coastal villages of Limekilns and Charlestown, both within walking distance. Don’t forget a visit to the quaint historic village of Culross, with its colourful old houses and cobbled streets, the backdrop to the famous TV series ‘Outlander’.
From this fantastic central location, you can either head to Glasgow for the day, visit Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, or head to the bustling royal city of Dunfermline where you will be spoilt for choice for restaurants, great pubs, shops and entertainment. Drive over the famous Queensferry Crossing and grab one of the best ice creams in the delightful little town of South Queensferry. As you have easy access to the motorways why not head north along to St Andrews and stop at some of the picturesque fishing villages dotted along the very impressive Fife Coastline. Anstruther is an interesting area to explore, an old fishing and historic town with red pantile roofs, ancient buildings, cobbled streets with little alleyways and working fishing harbour. There are two sandy beaches for paddling, perfect for exploring the rock pools when the tide goes out and all within walking distance from Pee Wee Cottage. There is a great choice of places to eat, from the Michelin star Cellar restaurant, to award-winning fish and chip shops, restaurants, cafés, ice cream parlour and bars. There are local gift shops, boutique and galleries to visit. In the summer months, from the harbour, boat trips to the Isle of May are available to the world-renowned bird sanctuary and nature reserve, famous for puffins, grey seals and other wildlife in the summer months.
Walk along the Fife coastal path, which passes through the town, to pretty fishing villages and many beautiful beaches and coves. The area is well known for golf courses; Anstruther has a challenging 9-hole course along the shore and many other links courses in the surrounding areas. St. Andrews is a mere 10 minute drive with championship and family friendly courses to play. Set in a picturesque lane, Kirkview Cottage is a traditional semi-detached cottage in the quiet village of Upper Largo, on the southern slopes of Largo Law. Within walking distance is the local hotel with a restaurant and bar, there are gentle walks out into the surrounding countryside. The beautiful sandy beach at Lower Largo is less than a mile away. For guests who enjoy walking, the Fife Coastal Path is easily accessible from the cottage, you can walk various sections of the coastal path and catch the coast bus back to the bus stop which is 200 yards from the cottage. For days out, along the coast is the bustling tourist harbour town of Anstruther offering a great selection eateries, from a Michelin Star restaurant to award-winning fish and chip shops. Perfect for walkers and cyclists, there are many quiet roads and paths to explore. Kellie Castle and gardens with its tea room makes for a great walk, and is about 1½ miles away. This is a super location for spotting wildlife, and nearby Gillingshill Reservoir has a variety of water fowl, including coots, little grebes and swans. Look out for rare green sandpipers during the migration season, and in late summer the air is filled with dragonflies and damselflies. The woodland also hosts a multitude of wild flowers in spring.

Four miles away is the magical old harbour village of Pittenween which oozes charm. There is a working harbour where you can watch the boats landing their catch and purchase freshly caught fish for your supper. If you would like to catch your own, fishing is available from the piers in St Monans, Pittenweem and Anstruther. Wander around the old lanes with their coffee shops or visit the harbourside ice cream shop for refreshments. For a walk along the shore, the Fife Coastal Path follows the coast to old fishing villages, pretty coves and sandy beaches where lots of sea life is visible from the shore.

Renovated in 2018 to a very good standard, Arc House is a bright and spacious first and second floor apartment with rooftop views towards the sea. The first floor has a handy utility room with a washing machine and sink where guests can keep their outdoor gear and buckets and spades, a family bathroom and three comfortable bedrooms all with televisions. The second floor has a super open-plan living area, which is light and spacious, with a superbly fitted kitchen with a dual fuel range cooker. The living area has a cosy 6-seater sofa and is the ideal place to relax after a day by the sea. From the Velux windows, there is a roof top view towards Pittenweem and Largo Law. The property dates back to 1877, and the street is named after Captain Rodger, owner of the clipper ship, Taeping. The East Neuk of Fife has a long seafaring history and the Fisheries Museum tells the story of the area.
