Cotlea East Cottage is a real find - a beautifully furnished stone cottage with all the trappings you need for an indulgent and restful holiday with your friends or family. It features gorgeous furnishings and not one, but two, wood burners; one in the cosy living room and one in the dining room. There are also comfortable beds and a brilliant modern wet room, which is also the perfect place fro washing pets down after being out in the glorious countryside surrounding the house. Attached to the owners’ property, the cottage has a large, secluded, fully enclosed garden with fine views over the fields and makes a delightful setting for a barbeque or al fresco meal.
Situated just 3 miles from the small town of Alyth, the property has a wealth of attractions and amenities within easy reach. There are some great golf courses here along with super walks in the Den of Alyth, a wooded glen on the outskirts of the town. A few miles beyond is the bustling market town of Blairgowrie with its good selection of shops, restaurants and leisure facilities. Heading west, enjoy a scenic route to the popular town of Pitlochry with its theatre, shops and fish ladder. In the winter months try your hand at skiing at Glenshee, just 20 miles away, or travel a little further and enjoy the stunning scenery of Braemar. Golf, horse riding, hill walking and cycling are all available in abundance in this lovely area.

Relax and enjoy a well-deserved break in this idyllic little semi-detached cottage. Set in the tiny hamlet of Kettins just 1½ miles from the market town of Coupar Angus, it is a pastoral delight, with whitewashed walls surrounded by attractive gardens. The row of cottages are set up a few steps from a tiny village green with a small stream meandering past. Inside, the cottage has been tastefully furnished and retains some original features including arched doorways, high ceilings and wooden floors, with a cosy open fire in the living room leading through to a small kitchen/dining room. At the back the sunny sheltered patio slopes upward to a lovely lawn and is perfect for alfresco meals.
A walkers and cyclists paradise there are plenty of waymarked paths through arable countryside of the Vale of Strathmore through Meigle, Ardler and Coupar Angus to the more challenging glens beyond Blairgowrie. Renowned for its soft fruit, there are plenty of good cafes and restaurants nearby showcasing local produce, and a good range of shops locally and further afield in Dundee and Perth. Glamis Castle, the childhood home of H.M Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, and the Pictish Stone Museum are well worth a visit and the cottage is within half an hour of the Cairngorms National Park. The ski slopes at Glenshee are a short drive and Pitlochry is within easy reach. Golfers have plenty of courses to choose from including Rosemount and Carnoustie, or explore the clean sandy beaches strung out along the east coast. Beach 19 miles. Crieff, 7 miles, is where you will find several amenities, including a popular delicatessen, cafés and a supermarket, as well as an array of shops. But, perhaps more appealing, is ‘The Famous Grouse whisky distillery’, at Glenturret, where you can take a tour – you might even get a taste! Several events are also held throughout the year, including ‘The Crieff Highland Games’ and autumn’s ‘Drovers’ Tryst Walking Festival’.

You will be in your element in this area if you are a fan of the outdoors, as the mountains call walkers, hikers and cyclists alike. Loch Earn is ideal for water sports and there are plenty of fishing, golfing, cycling and horse riding opportunities in the surrounding area. Speaking of horse riding, based on the farm there is an equestrian eventing facility, amongst 80 acres of wooded parkland, where you could tackle some of the 100 cross country jumps. If you prefer to stay on your own two feet then walking with the wildlife is highly recommended.

If all that outdoor activity leaves you in search of some retail therapy or a good night out, then the city of Perth is just 7 miles away. Here you will be spoilt for choice with places to wine and dine. You could even go to the theatre! A great way to experience the city is to take a boat trip on the River Tay (seasonal). This area has lots to offer, not least its many historic castles, including Scone Palace, Drummond Castle and Garden, Stirling Castle, Doune Castle, Hopetoun House and for fans of the TV series ‘Outlander’, there are numerous locations used in the making of the series. Buttercup Bothy is a delightful log cabin on the banks of the River Devon, on Snowplough Meadow in the picturesque village of Glendevon. The village of Dollar is only 7 miles away with the ancient Castle Campbell, riverside walks and offers a good selection of quality place to eat, coffee shop, local hotel and local shops. The Japanese Garden just outside of Dollar is open during the summer months and is worth a visit. Just 10 minutes’ drive takes you to the championship golf resort at Gleneagles and with over 20 local courses in the area this is the ideal location for a golfing holiday. For days out, there are visitor attractions and places of interest to visit; the historic city of Stirling with its magnificent castle, shopping centre and several visitor attractions only a 30-minute drive away, whisky distilleries including the oldest working distillery in Scotland, Glenturret, nearby. Blairdrummond Safari Park and Auchingarrich Wild Life Centre makes a family friendly day out.

What a lovely cottage! Within the grounds of the owner’s property, but completely detached and private, this delightful cottage, accessed by a rough track, has stunning expansive views over the fields and hills of rural Perthshire, yet is just a mile or so out of the village of Methven. Inside, the cottage has been lovingly furnished with calming colour schemes. The living room has comfy sofas and a soothing atmosphere and opens up onto the sun room at the rear, which leads to a private patio and hot tub, perfect for an evening soak in peaceful surroundings. The kitchen/dining room is well equipped with everything you need to cook up a lovely meal, and upstairs the main bedroom has a quirky element with a shower cubicle also in the room. There is a separate bathroom upstairs and a toilet downstairs. Outside, the pretty garden gives way to horse paddocks, and beyond are the rolling fields of the surrounding farm.Please note in September, the grain dryer in the adjoining barn can run for long hours.
This is great place to enjoy a varied holiday in the wonderful county of Perthshire. There is easy access to the fair city of Perth itself, with its wide selection of boutique shops, artisan cafés and restaurants. Culture lovers can take in a show at the renowned HorseCross in the centre of Perth, or in the more traditional Perth Theatre. Other recreational facilities include swimming, skating and cinema, as well as plenty of golf in the surrounding area. For golfers, Gleneagles is an easy drive.
