Comrie is a friendly, traditional village with a high street with a local baker, butcher and greengrocer as well as a gallery, craft shop, small supermarket, cafés and hotels with restaurants and bar all within walking distance.

For guests with small children, toddlers and babies, the owners have put great thought into providing additional extras to make your stay a little easier. Facilities include a travel cot (spare linen available), highchair, changing mat, booster seat, bed guard, baby bath and a baby monitor. Even meal preparation has been considered too, with a hand-held food blender and bottle steriliser on hand. There are no low-level glass doors and all lower units are fitted with child locks. Westburn is truly the ideal retreat for greater peace of mind.

Great for walkers and cyclists of all abilities, from your front door there are many established public footpaths and cycle paths that lead directly out into the heart of rural Perthshire. The River Earn runs through the village and provides the perfect landscape for an afternoon stroll. For a more exhilarating walk, head to the Deil’s Cauldron where the River Lednoch cascades through a rocky gorge. There is a very scenic golf course, fishing, bowling and Loch Earn, 6 miles away, offering sailing and watersports.

For a family day out Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre is a short drive away and has much to offer all ages with a children’s play area, covered walkway to view the wildlife and a restaurant. After spending your day exploring, Westburn offers a spacious, welcoming holiday home to return to with the added benefit of an enclosed garden with a summerhouse where children can play. The most recent addition to the collection, Kingfisher Cottage (UK38211) is a renovated, detached, single-storey luxury cottage, tucked way down a farm track. With two stylish bedrooms and beautiful quality furnishings throughout, the high ceilinged open plan living room/kitchen features an eyecatching wood burner flanked by full length picture windows, making the most of the view for the ultimate relaxing experience. Islabank Farmhouse (ref SAAP) is a traditional, characterful, comfortable farmhouse which is ideal for families. Curlew Cottage (ref SYYJ) is a charming, beautifully converted, detached, single-storey property and a haven for wildlife. Still part of the farm but located 4 miles away is Osprey Cottage (ref UZQ), a delightful, light and sunny, single-storey detached cottage.
Set amongst beautiful farmland and fruit-growing country, they make an excellent choice for relaxing breaks in the heart of rural Perthshire. Situated just 3 miles from the small town of Alyth, the property has a wealth of attractions and amenities within easy reach. There are some great golf courses here along with super walks in the Den of Alyth, a wooded glen on the outskirts of the town. A few miles beyond is the bustling market town of Blairgowrie with its good selection of shops, restaurants and leisure facilities. Heading west, enjoy a scenic route to the popular town of Pitlochry with its theatre, shops and fish ladder. In the winter months try your hand at skiing at Glenshee, just 20 miles away, or travel a little further and enjoy the stunning scenery of Braemar. Golf, horse riding, hill walking and cycling are all available in abundance in this lovely area.

Crieff, 7 miles, is where you will find several amenities, including a popular delicatessen, cafés and a supermarket, as well as an array of shops. But, perhaps more appealing, is ‘The Famous Grouse whisky distillery’, at Glenturret, where you can take a tour – you might even get a taste! Several events are also held throughout the year, including ‘The Crieff Highland Games’ and autumn’s ‘Drovers’ Tryst Walking Festival’.

You will be in your element in this area if you are a fan of the outdoors, as the mountains call walkers, hikers and cyclists alike. Loch Earn is ideal for water sports and there are plenty of fishing, golfing, cycling and horse riding opportunities in the surrounding area. Speaking of horse riding, based on the farm there is an equestrian eventing facility, amongst 80 acres of wooded parkland, where you could tackle some of the 100 cross country jumps. If you prefer to stay on your own two feet then walking with the wildlife is highly recommended.

If all that outdoor activity leaves you in search of some retail therapy or a good night out, then the city of Perth is just 7 miles away. Here you will be spoilt for choice with places to wine and dine. You could even go to the theatre! A great way to experience the city is to take a boat trip on the River Tay (seasonal). This area has lots to offer, not least its many historic castles, including Scone Palace, Drummond Castle and Garden, Stirling Castle, Doune Castle, Hopetoun House and for fans of the TV series ‘Outlander’, there are numerous locations used in the making of the series. The cottage is the former Coach House to Heath Park, a listed property used by Beatrix Potter in the 1890s. Set in an elevated position on a quiet private road in the Victorian conservation village of Birnam, this cottage has its own garden within the grounds of the owner’s property. This beautiful Victorian sandstone building is tucked away from the hustle and bustle yet in the very heart of Crieff. The ornate cornicing, ceiling roses and large bay windows have been loving restored while still retaining the elegance of the original building.
Just a 60-second walk from Crieff town centre where you will find an abundance of high quality restaurants and local shops. The Crieff Hydro Hotel is less than a 10-minute walk where over 60 activities including archery, air rifles, quad bikes and aerial adventure courses are held.

The popular Victorian tourist town of Crieff is only 3 miles away and is home to the oldest working whisky distillery which also boasts a Michelin Star restaurant. The town has a good selection of places to eat, an excellent deli and café selling local produce, craft shops, galleries and supermarkets. There are regular events throughout the year including the Crieff Highland Games and the autumn Drovers Walking Festival.
This area provides outdoor activities for all levels of skill. If you prefer more strenuous activities, then mountains such as Ben Vorlich, Ben Chonzie and Ben Lawers provide some excellent walking, with water sports available on Loch Earn, as well as mountain biking. For a less energetic day there are beautiful riverside walks along the banks of the River Earn and Turret. Those interested in golf can enjoy a range of courses in the surrounding area.
This area is steeped in history with tales of the outlaws and the Jacobite rebellion, an historic castle and monuments to visit in the area. If you have been following the TV series ‘Outlander’, Drummond Castle gardens are within 5 miles as are plenty of the locations used in the series, including Doune Castle and Hopetoun House all within driving distance.

What a lovely cottage! Within the grounds of the owner’s property, but completely detached and private, this delightful cottage, accessed by a rough track, has stunning expansive views over the fields and hills of rural Perthshire, yet is just a mile or so out of the village of Methven. Inside, the cottage has been lovingly furnished with calming colour schemes. The living room has comfy sofas and a soothing atmosphere and opens up onto the sun room at the rear, which leads to a private patio and hot tub, perfect for an evening soak in peaceful surroundings. The kitchen/dining room is well equipped with everything you need to cook up a lovely meal, and upstairs the main bedroom has a quirky element with a shower cubicle also in the room. There is a separate bathroom upstairs and a toilet downstairs. Outside, the pretty garden gives way to horse paddocks, and beyond are the rolling fields of the surrounding farm.Please note in September, the grain dryer in the adjoining barn can run for long hours.
This is great place to enjoy a varied holiday in the wonderful county of Perthshire. There is easy access to the fair city of Perth itself, with its wide selection of boutique shops, artisan cafés and restaurants. Culture lovers can take in a show at the renowned HorseCross in the centre of Perth, or in the more traditional Perth Theatre. Other recreational facilities include swimming, skating and cinema, as well as plenty of golf in the surrounding area. For golfers, Gleneagles is an easy drive.
The popular town of Crieff is a short drive away, with the Glenturret Distillery well worth a visit, or visit Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre in Comrie, a great place for children and adults alike to interact with native and foreign species amongst wonderful scenery. Designed by William Bell circa 1899, Dunvarlich House is a superb example of Arts and Crafts movement architecture and has a Historic Scotland listing category B. The house occupies a stunning position with breathtaking views overlooking the River Tay, with its 18th-century stone bridge, glens and mountains beyond. To the front of the house there are steps that lead down to a beautiful river walk. The house is entered by an Oriental-style vestibule with pale green stained glass, opening into a long, imposing hall and has been lovingly restored and elegantly furnished with antiques for discerning guests and families. It boasts original oak panelling in the drawing room, wood-burning stove, glass sun porch and a quaint, original cloakroom. A double staircase sweeps up either side of a fireplace with log burning stove, leading to four generous bedrooms and two large Victorian bathrooms. The caretakers are resident in a completely separate private rear wing.

Set on the edge of the pretty town of Aberfeldy it combines excellent local amenities including a delicatessen, butcher, galleries, bookshops, restaurants, antique shops and swimming-pool all within easy walking distance with the peace and tranquillity of country living.
