Set on a working arable and cattle farm, within the owner’s 2000-acre estate in the Vale of Strathmore, these four welcoming and spacious holiday cottages have been restored to a very high standard. The most recent addition to the collection, Kingfisher Cottage (UK38211) is a renovated, detached, single-storey luxury cottage, tucked way down a farm track. With two stylish bedrooms and beautiful quality furnishings throughout, the high ceilinged open plan living room/kitchen features an eyecatching wood burner flanked by full length picture windows, making the most of the view for the ultimate relaxing experience. Islabank Farmhouse (ref SAAP) is a traditional, characterful, comfortable farmhouse which is ideal for families. Curlew Cottage (ref SYYJ) is a charming, beautifully converted, detached, single-storey property and a haven for wildlife. Still part of the farm but located 4 miles away is Osprey Cottage (ref UZQ), a delightful, light and sunny, single-storey detached cottage.
Set amongst beautiful farmland and fruit-growing country, they make an excellent choice for relaxing breaks in the heart of rural Perthshire. Situated just 3 miles from the small town of Alyth, the property has a wealth of attractions and amenities within easy reach. There are some great golf courses here along with super walks in the Den of Alyth, a wooded glen on the outskirts of the town. A few miles beyond is the bustling market town of Blairgowrie with its good selection of shops, restaurants and leisure facilities. Heading west, enjoy a scenic route to the popular town of Pitlochry with its theatre, shops and fish ladder. In the winter months try your hand at skiing at Glenshee, just 20 miles away, or travel a little further and enjoy the stunning scenery of Braemar. Golf, horse riding, hill walking and cycling are all available in abundance in this lovely area.

Crieff, 7 miles, is where you will find several amenities, including a popular delicatessen, cafés and a supermarket, as well as an array of shops. But, perhaps more appealing, is ‘The Famous Grouse whisky distillery’, at Glenturret, where you can take a tour – you might even get a taste! Several events are also held throughout the year, including ‘The Crieff Highland Games’ and autumn’s ‘Drovers’ Tryst Walking Festival’.

You will be in your element in this area if you are a fan of the outdoors, as the mountains call walkers, hikers and cyclists alike. Loch Earn is ideal for water sports and there are plenty of fishing, golfing, cycling and horse riding opportunities in the surrounding area. Speaking of horse riding, based on the farm there is an equestrian eventing facility, amongst 80 acres of wooded parkland, where you could tackle some of the 100 cross country jumps. If you prefer to stay on your own two feet then walking with the wildlife is highly recommended.

If all that outdoor activity leaves you in search of some retail therapy or a good night out, then the city of Perth is just 7 miles away. Here you will be spoilt for choice with places to wine and dine. You could even go to the theatre! A great way to experience the city is to take a boat trip on the River Tay (seasonal). This area has lots to offer, not least its many historic castles, including Scone Palace, Drummond Castle and Garden, Stirling Castle, Doune Castle, Hopetoun House and for fans of the TV series ‘Outlander’, there are numerous locations used in the making of the series. An art déco cinema has a regular program of events running throughout the year and the town also hosts a farmers’ market and annual events such as the Etap Caledonia Cycle race and Highland games. Within a short drive you can experience the bustling tourist town of Pitlochry with it theatre, salmon ladder and tourist shops. This area of Highland Perthshire is well known for outdoor activities with white water rafting, fishing, golf, cycling and hill walking available nearby. Within a short drive is the popular market town of Blairgowrie, this is a great location for exploring these beautiful parts of Perthshire, which are renowned for its soft fruit growing. Keen walkers will enjoy the nearby Cateran Trail and there are numerous cycle routes criss-crossing the area. For golfers there are plenty of courses, including a championship course in Blairgowrie itself, as well as internationally famous Gleneagles, St Andrews and Carnoustie further afield. In winter the ski slopes at Glenshee are within easy reach and the cities of Perth, Dundee or Edinburgh make good days out.
