There is a river at the bottom for guests who enjoy a spot of fishing and a lovely seating area, and nearby along the river, a plethora of wild birds have been spotted includind oystercatchers, black headed gull, cuckoo, woodpecker, wren, pied wagtail, blue tits, tree creeper, chaffinch and bullfinch to name a few. The cottage comprises of a spacious open plan living area which leads to a large well-fitted modern kitchen. The bedroom has a kingsize bed and built-in wardrobes, and there is a shower room too. Outside, River Cottage has a private covered decked area where you can sit and enjoy the view whatever the weather.

The town of Drumnadrochit is just 1 mile away with a superb selection of restaurants and bars. This is also the home of the Loch Ness Monster Exhibition where you can find everything you need to know about the legendary ’Nessy’ that has drawn visitors to this area since the 1930s. The Cottage makes the perfect base for touring this unspoilt and tranquil part of the Highlands. Visit the Castle and Gardens of Mey, the Queen Mother’s Highland home, John O’Groats, Wick Heritage and Lyth Arts Centre, or take a wildlife or distillery tour. Golfing, fishing, sea trips or walking along the many miles of rugged coastline are just some of the many activities available. Lyth is situated just 10 miles north of Wick and 15 miles from Thurso, making the beautiful Orkney Isles easily accessible by car ferry for day trips. This attractive ground floor holiday apartment forms part of a stone cottage situated in the village of Castletown which is on the North Coast 500. Its high ceilings, original wooden shutters and cottage garden (grassed area outside the main garden provides space for dogs’ exercise) all add to its charm. Four miles of sandy beach adjoins the fishing harbour 800 yards from the property. Sea angling and loch fishing are available. Known for its unspoilt beaches and wide variety of wildlife and, at certain times of year, the Northern Lights are visible. Central to many surfing locations, golf courses, fishing and the Castle of Mey (8 miles). Take a day-trip to the Orkney Isles. An all weather short mat bowling green is available for guests to use. Upon entering The Bakehouse, the open plan living space is bright and airy. It has an inviting wood burner, feature stone hearth and high-standard fixtures and fittings. There is a large bathroom and spacious double bedroom, which also has a comfortable sofa bed for flexible sleeping arrangements.
An Asgard 4-bike cycle-storage unit is in the grounds; this can be booked by either guests staying at Apartment 2 or The Bakehouse. Please contact the owners to check availability and reserve (free). Once the 4-bike secure store is booked by either party, it is then for their exclusive use only.

Newtonmore is situated in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park and is a walking and birdwatching paradise. There are many hiking and cycling trails on the doorstep of The Bakehouse, as well as world-class fishing along nearby River Spey, and skiing in winter. You can also hire kayaks and canoes at Arsaig and explore the deserted islands of the west coast, as it is an easy day trip. There are also world-renowned whisky distilleries along the river.

Nearby is Aviemore and Inverness, both with much to see and do for visitors. However, Newtonmore itself is very well-catered for with pubs, restaurants and shops. Shop and restaurant 500 yards, pub 300 yards.

Antfield Farmhouse is a beautiful spacious holiday home near to the shores of Loch Ness. Situated on an amazing plot of land, the farmhouse enjoys panoramic views across pasture to woodland and mountains. The farmhouse still has some original nineteenth century dimensions.

Antfield Farmhouse sleeps ten people in total and is therefore perfect for an extended family, two families or group of friends. On entering the farmhouse, you go through the front porch door, before the large hallway. Off to the left is the main living room with open fire and large Smart TV and enjoys wonderful views of the dramatic landscape, this then leads through to the snug/playroom. To the right of the hallway is a large dining room area which looks out to the front of the house with views. Further down the hallway through a door leads to the double bedroom, then there is another small hall with a separate shower room and toilet. The kitchen has everything you’ll need to cook up a storm for family and friends and then gather round the dining table. Next to kitchen is a utility/games room with pool table and darts leading to the patio and large garden. Back to the hallway, and upstairs you reach the first-floor accommodation consisting of 4 large kingsize bedrooms all en-suite.

The garden is large, laid mostly to lawn and enjoys views in all directions. It’s very child and dog friendly, as it’s fully enclosed, you will also enjoy looking at a private small grassy paddock with horses and donkeys, but this is not for guests to go in.

There is a fully fenced garden for them to play in, with walks directly from the house as well as bathrobes supplied to snuggle up in when they come home. Bonnie Doon is a delightful, semi-detached, one-bedroom, well-located modern cottage within 10min easy walking distance of Aviemore centre via pedestrian path. It is tucked away in a quiet cul de sac and has the Strathspey Steam Railway line to the back of the property and an outlook to the mountains at the front of the property. The rear garden is a good size and reasonably private with barbecue facilities and a bike post. Bonnie Doon has a well-equipped kitchen, Smart TV and good-sized bathroom. There is a travel cot available for couples with an infant, and your dog is very welcome too!

Being in Aviemore means you have extensive amenities and also gives you a great opportunity to explore other places in the area. Visit the charming neighbouring villages of Carrbridge, Boat of Garten and Nethy Bridge, and continue to see the Speyside distilleries. You could also explore this area on foot by walking the Speyside Way, or hopping on and off the steam railway.
