Inverness makes a superb base for sampling many attractions in the Highlands. Good walking, golf courses, bike trails, Nairn beach, the delights of Loch Ness and the Caledonian Canal are within easy reach. Ullapool is around an hour’s drive away and the Isle of Skye is about 2 hours away by car, and slightly longer by train.
