    A large secluded south facing decked terrace with outdoor dining table and chairs is accessed by the patio doors off the living area, and it overlooks the aspen and scots pine tree lined back garden. This is the perfect spot for lunch or to unwind with a glass of wine watching the light changing on the Cairngorms. Keep an eye out for the red squirrels who like to balance on the top of the glass balcony if you’re quiet! There’s plenty of parking and a small enclosed, pet-friendly lawned front garden (the rear garden below the back deck is semi-wild/cottage-style, bee-friendly and accessed by a rough path).

    It is an ideal location for touring the both north and south Cornish coasts and close to the Devon/Cornwall border so you can explore both counties from one base. There are miles of shoreline walks close by, and fossils are regularly found along this particular stretch of coast. Helmsdale has a good selection of restaurants and small shops, as well as a fascinating museum detailing the unusual history of the area, including the 19th century gold rush. There is also a 9-hole golf course in the village and the renowned course of Brora is just 10 minutes’ drive away. Travel north to visit the Castle of Mey, John O’Groats and even the Orkney Isles.
