The large family kitchen with glazed dining area overlooks the garden and outside patio area, whilst the spacious comfortable living room offers a wood-burning stove for cosy evenings in. The property has the added benefit of a ground floor en-suite bedroom, as well as five further en-suite bedrooms on the first floor. The gardens and barbecue area provide wonderful waterside views. They are very much geared for family groups and celebratory gatherings. Surrounded by the owners’ farmland, with footpaths, bridleways and cycle routes from the doorstep, these properties are the perfect country retreat. Another popular pastime in the area is fishing, which is available for guests of the cottages on Chelmarsh Reservoir and also on the River Severn (day permits can be purchased from local fishing tackle shops). Ideally located near to the historic town of Bridgnorth and the Severn Valley railway, with RAF Cosford a short drive away, the cottages make an ideal base for touring. The Ironbridge Gorge Museum and the hills of the Long Mynd and Wenlock Edge are about 10 miles away, whilst there are many interesting walks from the door as well as numerous picturesque villages waiting to be explored. The Wenlock Edge links Much Wenlock with Church Stretton, the only market town in this AONB. You’ll find many attractions around these areas where the surrounding villages form an excellent base for the country lover or sportsman alike, in all seasons. Cross-country routes are well marked for hikers, horse riders and mountain bikers. Shops 4 miles, pub 3 miles, restaurant 1½ miles.

Set in the Clun valley, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this converted property was originally part of an old sawmill. Just northwest of historic Shrewsbury and close to the Welsh borders, Field House stands in an ideal position for exploring and sightseeing within this lovely region. England’s largest inland county, Shropshire remains one of the country’s least populated and unspoilt landscapes, where bustling ancient market towns lie encompassed by acres of countryside. This is an area immersed in history, with the Domesday Book association, noteworthy castles which include the English Heritage castle at Moreton Corbet, the hilltop remains at Montgomery and Clun to the south, and of course, the splendid sandstone fortifications which dominate the centre of Shrewsbury.
Whether you crave activity, history, culture or shopping, nearby towns have plenty to offer all tastes and ages. Oswestry boasts the legendary King Oswald’s Well - said to have curative powers, Wroxeter the fourth largest city in Roman Britain is only 5 miles outside of Shrewsbury on the way to the historic Ironbridge Gorge and Blists Hill Victorian Town. The RAF Museum at Cosford, Attingham Park (National Trust), Hawkstone Historic Park and Follies, a 10-mile ride on the Llangollen railway through the stunning Dee Valley, or 18 holes of golf at Oswestry Golf Course - all are within easy reach of Field House. In a secluded setting on working farmland, it adjoins acres of National Trust land, within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a Site of Special Scientific Interest with wonderful views and birdwatching. Walking from the door with the Shropshire Way, 500 yards away. Close by are Shrewsbury, Ludlow, Bishops Castle, Church Stretton and Ironbridge. Long Mynd summit (517 metres) is a 30 minute walk. There are several National Trust and English Heritage properties and gardens within easy driving distance, as well as an eclectic mix of independent shops in Shrewsbury. If your hungry after all the exploring, try the hearty food in the nearby pubs, seek out the local tea shops, peruse the farmers’ markets, head to Ludlow for fine fayre or pop over the Welsh border for ice cream made fresh on a farm, or just treat yourself to a relaxing night in. Formerly a stone outbuilding and artists’s studio, the cottage is a blend of original features and refurbished country cosiness. Pick up a bottle of wine in the village shop, watch the sun go down from the patio or orchard, cook yourself something nice in the well-equipped kitchen and settle down in front of the wood burner.
