Snowdonia’s most exciting activity is within easy reach, Zip World Velocity, is the worlds longest and fastest zip line which sees riders fly solo through the skies at over 100mph. Llanerch, forming part of the Crogen Estate, is a detached holiday cottage with far reaching views towards the Berwyn Mountains. Llanerch is situated in the Upper Dee Valley 5 miles outside the town of Bala, gateway to the Snowdonia National Park. Crogen is home to Get Wet, the outdoor adventure activity company, the high ropes course is one of Europe’s highest and most challenging, and paint balling is also available. Aran and Arenig mountains are but a short drive away, with the nearest coastal town of Porthmadog being 45 minutes’ drive, plus all the numerous castles and other coastal villages and towns of North Wales. Lake Bala offers a wide variety of water sports. The white water course at the National White Water Centre on the River Tryweryn is renowned. Courses are available in kayaking, rafting and canoeing. Mountain biking is available at expert centres in Llangollen, Llandegla and Coed-y-Brenin. Private fishing is also available on the River Dee. Golf and fishing available nearby. Superb walking and cycling in Snowdonia National Park, slate caverns to explore and scenic narrow gauge railway trips are all within easy reach, and the Italianate village of Portmeirion lies just 8 miles away. Porthmadog and the traditional seaside resort of Barmouth are within easy reach. For an alternative day out, take a ride on the miniature steam train that chugs its way alongside Lake Bala.

Ty Hir is located close to the beautiful Mawddach Estuary with its coastal trail and cycle path. There is direct access from the farm leading down to the golden sands of Fairbourne beach, great for families with small children or across the Victorian bridge to Barmouth. If you wish you can just relax, enjoy a spot of fishing nearby, or for the more energetic you can enjoy family walks in the idyllic scenery, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Snowdonia National Park. The family-run pony trekking and equestrian centre on-site is just on the north side of the farm, away from our holiday cottages with menage Hire (arena), riders or complete beginners are catered for. In a lovely quiet location, Goleufryn is split over three buildings grouped around a pretty garden, just on the outskirts of Abersoch on the Llyn Peninsula, and has distant sea views. The main house sleeps ten and has a spacious living room with a dining room and full kitchen where everybody can gather together. The Barn sleeps four, has a large living room and kitchenette together with two bedrooms, and The Annexe sleeps four in one bedroom and also has a fantastic games room to keep the whole family occupied.
There are walks from the door, and the pretty village of Abersoch is a short distance away, providing a range of shops, pubs, cafés and restaurants. There are three beaches to choose from too, the long sandy Warren Beach, small and sheltered Porth Bach, and sandy Porth Ceiriad including backed by high cliffs. There’s also the surfers favourite at nearby Hell’s Mouth. Abersoch itself is well-known as one of the most popular sailing venues in North Wales, but it also makes an ideal base for exploring the area. Visit the lovely National Trust owned beach at Llanbedrog with its multi-coloured beach huts, and call in to see the ever-changing art exhibitions at Plas Glyn-y-Weddw. Take a trip from Aberdaron to visit Bardsey Island off the tip of the Llyn Peninsula, or take a trip into the Snowdonia National Park on the Welsh Highland Railway, visit the quirky Italianate village of Portmeirion, or conquer mighty Caernarfon Castle, built by Edward I and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Within the village is Porth y Swnt, the National Trust’s interpretation centre, which is a great place to learn about the area’s rich history, culture and environment, and is really useful for getting great ideas for days out during your stay.
The Wales Coastal Path runs close by and with many beautiful walks starting from the village, Benlli is in a wonderful location for both traditional family seaside holidays and those seeking a more active break.
The lively resort of Pwllheli with many amenities is a short drive away and the Snowdonia National Park, with its wealth of exhilarating outdoor pursuits and family attractions, is also within easy reach. Beach 500 yards. Shop, pub and restaurant 500 yards.

Ymwlch Barns are a charming complex of barn conversions situated in a quiet hamlet offering beautiful mountain views and country walks. The Dutch barns (UK12872 and UK12873) are superb, semi-detached barn conversions each offering modern open plan living with a luxurious touch and lovely private hot tubs in enclosed courtyards (towels not provided). They each have a kingsize bedroom and a twin room, making them ideal for small families or couples. Kris Kin (ref OXU) is a charming detached barn conversion with oak beams, wooden floor, well-equipped kitchen and an en-suite bathroom. This property also has its own hot tub.

The surroundings are alive with snowdrops in winter and bluebells in spring. The complex is a short drive away from the beach and castle at Criccieth, and a lovely selection of restaurants, cafes, shops and pubs. Situated on the beautiful Lleyn Peninsula, the area is perfect for walking and cycling with an abundance of lovely footpaths and peaceful country lanes. Just under 5 miles away is the lovely town of Porthmadog, with its pretty harbour and the start of fabulous narrow gauge steam train rides on the world famous Ffestiniog railway, which takes you deep into the heart of the magnificent Snowdonia National Park.
