Outside, relax in the private garden and enjoy alfresco dining, or stroll in the nearby scenic Stackpole Estate (NT) and discover its fantastic walks and beautiful sites including the glistening Bosherston Lily Ponds, famous for its otters and water lilies, and the stunning beaches at Broadhaven and Barafundle, with their golden sands and crystal blue waters.
The historic walled town of Pembroke is just 3 miles away and features a magnificent Norman castle, which is famous as the birthplace of Henry VII. The bustling coastal resort of Tenby is within easy reach and is renowned for its picturesque harbour, narrow cobbled streets and pastel painted Georgian houses. It has a variety of boutique gift shops, traditional pubs and highly acclaimed restaurants.
Take a boat trip to the historic island of Caldey, with its Celtic monastery and Cistercian monks, who have made it a holy island for hundreds of years. Away from the coast, explore the rolling hills of Preseli and discover its ancient sites dotted along its rugged terrain, or visit the market town of Narbeth, with its antique shops, art galleries and numerous cafés and tasteful restaurants. It is centrally located within the county, just a few minutes’ drive to the Preseli Hills where you can enjoy some stunning forestry walks and take on the highest point in Pembrokeshire, Foel Cwmcerwyn, with outstanding views across west Wales. After a brisk walk, enjoy a local ale and some freshly cooked home produce in the nearby pub. The beautiful town of Narberth is close by and here you can enjoy a host of boutique shops, café, delicatessens and antique shops on the bustling high street.
The Old Post House was once the post office for the local area and has been lovingly furnished throughout to provide a good standard of accommodation. The Preseli Hills are a short walk away and you are 1.8 miles from the village of Maenclochog with a great village shop, petrol station, café, and pub. Centrally placed in Pembrokeshire with a 25-minute drive to the north coast you are in a wonderfully rural, quiet setting but near enough to the bustle of the coast for an early morning swim. A great day out can be had in beautiful Newport on the north coast and the famous walled town of Tenby on the south coast, with its cobbled streets, award-winning beach, and a truly magnificent picture postcard harbour.
It is also a great base for visiting the many attractions Pembrokeshire has to offer, including Wild Lakes Wake Park and Llys Y Fran reservoir, complete with cycle tracks and archery, both of which are within 20 minutes drive. Carn Llidi Cottage with Visit Wales 5 star rating is within a 15-minute walk of the fabulous Whitesands Blue Flag Beach and has wonderful uninterrupted views across open countryside to the miniature mountain of Carn Llidi and the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. Approached via a farm drive which opens into the courtyard of a working arable and sheep farm, the cottage is neatly tucked away off the courtyard and behind the farmhouse.
A warm, welcoming and spotless home, equipped and furnished to the highest residential standards. Each bedroom, two on the ground floor and two on the first floor, has its own bathroom and the first floor sitting room is cosy and comfortable. The well-stocked family-run farm shop, which also supplies groceries to the owner’s immaculately maintained caravan and camping park nearby, is a short walk away.
Breakfast al-fresco on freshly baked bread, croissants, locally produced bacon or freshly laid eggs, bought from the farm shop just across the farmyard. On Wednesdays & Sundays during school holidays, the pizza van cooks excellent pizzas to order. Watch spectacular sunsets over Carn Llidi from the front patio. The small, private, sheltered and enclosed side patio/lawn has a picnic table and a stone staircase to the first floor master bedroom.
A path across the owners farmland leads directly to the Coastal Path and the National Trust owned common land which stretches over St Davids Head and includes the small, sandy cove of Porth Melgan. There is wonderful scenery, ancient field patterns, the ruins of the lost medieval village of Maes y Mynydd and Coetan Arthur, a Neolithic Burial Chamber (4000 BC). Enjoy birds galore, carpets of wild flowers in the early summer, butterflies, peace and tranquillity. Beach 1 mile.

South Pembrokeshire is often referred to as ’little England beyond Wales’. The locals speak English, place names are English and yet the area is surrounded by Welsh speakers on all sides even in north Pembrokeshire! During the 12th century Henry I allowed a number of Flemish to settle in the area and they were soon joined by English settlers. The Flemish and English languages were similar at the time. This led to the extinction of Welsh in the area.
Pembroke is an historic town with its magnificent Norman Castle set high on a ridge between two tidal inlets and is famous as the birthplace of Henry VII and the Tudor Dynasty. Visitors are rewarded with a fascinating insight into the medieval lifestyle.
There are scenic walks nearby including one around the picturesque mill pond with its resident swans, herons and ducks. The high street, lined with predominantly Georgian buildings has a variety of restaurants, cafés (including an award-winning fish & chip restaurant), shops, pubs and antique centres and is within a 5-minute stroll.
