It has a variety of boutique gift shops, traditional pubs and highly acclaimed restaurants.
Take a boat trip to the historic island of Caldey, with its Celtic monastery and Cistercian monks, who have made it a holy island for hundreds of years. Away from the coast, explore the rolling hills of Preseli and discover its ancient sites dotted along its rugged terrain, or visit the market town of Narbeth, with its antique shops, art galleries and numerous cafés and tasteful restaurants. Last Barn is a beautiful conversion of a traditional Welsh barn, tucked away in rolling countryside within the Pembrokeshire National Park. A mile down a quiet country lane takes you to a permissive pathway across Castlemartin range and on to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. Here is a stunning section of coastline featuring St Govan’s Chapel (a medieval church built into the cliff face) and, further on, the famous Green Bridge of Wales. Other nearby beaches include Freshwater West, which featured in several films, including Harry Potter, and West Angle Bay. The nearest, award-winning pub is only 2 miles. A charming barn conversion with a small, pretty, walled courtyard garden tucked away down a quiet lane in the heart of the historic walled town of Pembroke and within a short drive of the beautiful South Pembrokeshire Heritage Coast.
Comfortable, warm and well equipped, the cottage is ideal for all year-round holidays and has a ground floor bedroom as well as two bedrooms on the first floor which have oak floors, beamed ceilings and radiators providing central heating.
The ground floor is Travertine marble with underfloor heating throughout. The spacious kitchen is extremely well equipped, there is a cosy living room as well as a sun room which opens onto the garden where there is a separate external games room housing a pool table, dart board and table tennis table- great fun for all the family.
South Pembrokeshire is often referred to as ’little England beyond Wales’. The locals speak English, place names are English and yet the area is surrounded by Welsh speakers on all sides even in north Pembrokeshire! During the 12th century Henry I allowed a number of Flemish to settle in the area and they were soon joined by English settlers. The Flemish and English languages were similar at the time. This led to the extinction of Welsh in the area.
Pembroke is an historic town with its magnificent Norman Castle set high on a ridge between two tidal inlets and is famous as the birthplace of Henry VII and the Tudor Dynasty. Visitors are rewarded with a fascinating insight into the medieval lifestyle.
There are scenic walks nearby including one around the picturesque mill pond with its resident swans, herons and ducks. The high street, lined with predominantly Georgian buildings has a variety of restaurants, cafés (including an award-winning fish & chip restaurant), shops, pubs and antique centres and is within a 5-minute stroll. The property offers a great base to explore the local area of Wiston and the town of Haverfordwest, which is around 7 miles away. Haverfordwest offers a range of year-round holiday attractions all lying within easy reach, including Broad Haven beach with its water sports, sands and rock pools, around 13 miles away. Dolphins can often be spotted in St Brides Bay and the coastal path is a must for walkers.
