There is so much do and see locally. Explore the Coast with its lovely sandy beaches. The Norfolk Broads National Park offer miles of waterways to explore. Why not hire a day boat, for the more adventurous go kayaking, paddle boarding or sit back and enjoy a river trip? Plenty of eateries located alongside the water to enjoy. Rowan Cottage is ideal for relaxing in front of the multi-fuel burner and watching the wildlife on the live feed to the cottage. Relax amid spectacular and dramatic scenery in this gloriously unspoilt part of Northumberland. Lying within the Northumberland National Park and enjoying panoramic views over Whitelee Fell National Nature Reserve, the cottages are former shepherd’s cottages on the owner’s sheep farm, renovated to a very good standard and retaining lots of character. Oak Cottage and Birch Cottage have beamed living room ceilings and all three have inglenook fireplaces with multi-fuel stoves for a warm and cosy atmosphere as well as power showers in the bathroom. There are wildlife cameras which feed live pictures direct to the flatscreen TV in each cottage, so you can watch barn owls, badgers and other wildlife. The area is rich in wildlife and ideal for walkers. Whitelee Farm is an idyllic base for exploring the Roman wall, Lindisfarne, Alnwick Castle, Kielder Forest Park and the Scottish borders. Newcastle and Edinburgh are within an easy drive. Shopping in Otterburn and Jedburgh, both 15 minutes away.

This wonderful cottage has the perfect village location, walking distance to the village pub, and a great location to explore Norfolk’s amazing sandy coastline and its famous Norfolk Broads National Park.
Fully refurbished in 2022 to offer an excellent holiday home, beautifully furnished with open plan accommodation, the living room has comfy sofas and a wood burner, perfect to snuggle beside. The well-equipped kitchen allows opportunity to dine at home, yet within walking distance is the village pub serving good food. To the rear of the cottage is a lovely private, enclosed rear lawn garden with decking, seating furniture and a hot tub.
Close by is Hickling Broad, with a nature reserve that links to the Norfolk Broad’s unique topography of reed-lined waterways, famous for their good coarse fishing, boating and rich variety of wildlife, especially waterfowl. Also 3 miles drive away are the glorious sandy beaches of Sea Palling and Waxham, often visited by seals. Visit Wroxham (10 miles), the capital of the Norfolk Broads, with its waterside cafés, restaurants, shops and daily river trips available. Enjoy a trip through wonderful countryside along the Bure Valley Steam Railway, with opportunity to jump on and off at the riverside villages of Coltishall and Buxton or stay on board and travel to the pretty market town of Aylsham, with eateries, market square with shops and cafes. Daily boat hire is available at nearby Hickling Broad and Potter Heigham, ½ mile and 3½ miles away respectively.

Set across three floors, River Quay is a beautifully renovated terraced property in the popular seaside town of Gorleston-on-Sea. Gorleston-on-Sea is just south of Great Yarmouth and offers a promenade, beach side cafés, pubs and restaurants. Throughout the summer there is an Edwardian theatre with a pitch and putt golf course and amusements. Historically hundreds of fishing boats from the herring fleets would sail from the harbour and today this is one of two entrances to the Norfolk Broads National Park. From River Quay you are ideally located for visiting both Norfolk and Suffolk. To the north you have Horsey Beach where during the winter months a seal colony can be found lining the shore, the sand dunes at Winterton-on-Sea are perfect for strolling, and inland the city of Norwich is excellent for shopping, eating and drinking. Suffolk offers an abundance of history at Framlingham Castle, the submerged village at Dunwich and equally stunning is the RSPB Minsmere Reserve. Guests visiting this property in June have the pleasure of being able to go and experience the local Air Show in Yarmouth with The Red Arrows, just 3 miles away. Fishing is also available locally. Princessa Cottage is a welcoming and cosy, terraced coastal cottage within a minutes’ walk of Bembridge beach on the east of the Isle of Wight. The cottage has a sociable and comfortable, open plan kitchen, dining and living area with feature lighting and patio door leading to a rear enclosed courtyard with table and chairs and even a place for buckets and spades. On the ground floor is a separate toilet and bedroom with a single day bed. On the first floor there are two double bedrooms with fitted wardrobes and dressing tables, and a family bathroom with shower cubicle and freestanding bath, perfect for a long soak after a day of exploring.
The beach is accessed via steps from the neighbouring gravelled car park. There are two great eateries along this stretch of coast, both specialising in seafood and overlooking the sea. Stroll along the famous Leyburn Shawl or walk to Castle Bolton, Middleham Castle, Constable Burton Hall Gardens and the nearby Aysgarth Falls. A short drive away is Hardraw, home to England’s highest unbroken waterfall. The Shawl is only a few steps from the Market Place in the centre of Leyburn and is accessible for walkers of all abilities and ages. Hop on the Wensleydale Vintage Bus to Ripon or Hawes, or ride the train on the Wensleydale Railway. Visit the nearby Forbidden Corner attraction in Coverdale where guests can follow a trail of follies, or the Georgian market town of Richmond, which offers many shops, restaurants, pubs and tea shops. This beautiful and historic town in is settled high above the River Swale and offers panoramic views of the surrounding area and the chance to browse the weekly market and monthly farmers’ market with local produce and crafts. Within an easy 2-hour drive is the historic cathedral city of Durham with its cathedral, castle and city walls.
