Carr House farmhouse is set on a working farm, but only minutes away from the attractions of Scarborough and only 1½ miles from the well known surfing beach at Cayton Bay, which also welcomes dog walkers throughout the year. This detached farmhouse is ideal for touring the North Yorkshire coast, from Whitby in the north to Bridlington in the south. A short journey inland takes you to the North York Moors, ’Heartbeat’ Country and Pickering for the steam railway, whilst York for its historic attractions is less than an hour away.

For activities nearby there is Dalby Forest for cycling and tree climbing, Wykeham Lakes for fishing, or the many beaches which offer the chance to just relax, sail, surf, sunbathe, paddle, and build sandcastles. Scarborough is a vibrant seaside resort with lots of family attractions, such as the waterpark, Sealife Centre and crazy golf, as well as a funfair, ice-cream parlours, amusements, and donkey rides. It also boasts superb live entertainment at the Open Air Theatre, with major acts booked each summer, and shows at the Scarborough Spa and the renowned Stephen Joseph Theatre. Beach 2 miles. A luxury barn conversion makes a great base to visit the Yorkshire coast, North York Moors National Park, Dolby Forest, the Yorkshire Wolds, Cleveland Way and nearby popular Market Towns. The owner has created a well equipped holiday ‘home’ with very high standard décor and furnishings. It is situated in the pretty village of Seamer, just 4 miles from the seaside town of Scarborough. The village has local pubs that serve traditional pub food and fine dining. There’s a small supermarket and post office as well as a fish and chip shop, all within walking distance. Lovely garden centre approx 1 mile.
Aysgarth Lodge has a large, enclosed garden, perfect for the dog or the children. There is a lawned area as well as patio with a wonderful hot tub to relax in after a busy day visiting the coast. The open plan kitchen/living area has a contemporary feel and features a cosy wood burner in the corner.
There are plenty of beaches to choose from Scarborough North and South Bays, Cayton Bay, Filey, Hunmanby, Reightons and slightly further Flamborough, Bridlington, Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay. Visit Scarborough’s historic Castle, Rotunda Museum, Sealife Centre or Peasholm Park. Enjoy fun filled family time at Scarborough Waterpark Alpamare, or relax in their luxury Wellness Spa above with its fantastic sauna overlooking the sea. For those of you who enjoy bird watching there’s the RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs where you can view thousands of migrating seabirds from the cliff top viewing points. People travel from all over to watch the comical puffins. The cyclists amongst you can enjoy some of the routes from the Tour de Yorkshire, as well as the wonderful Dalby Forest, home to miles and miles of mountain bike tracks. With over 8,000 acres of woodland pathways there’s plenty of woodland walks to enjoy, as well as the Cleveland Way. Aysgarth Lodge provides an excellent base to enjoy a golf tour of the North East Coast or play in the historic Scarborough golf week.
Yorkshire is famous for its market towns, Pickering, Malton, Beverley and Driffield are all a short drive from Aysgarth Lodge. In the village you will find a supermarket, post office, traditional pub, bistro pub, fish and chip shop and a church 100-400 yards. There is a garden centre. 10-15 minute flat walk which has a lovely café. Supermarket and fast food outlets within a 5 minute drive, all in the same place. You should not be disappointed with your stay as there’s something for all age groups and tastes. Beach 4½ miles. Shop 250 yards, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

Storey Farm Cottage is a cosy converted barn with stunning uninterrupted views down the valley. Sleeping up to six people and two well behaved dogs, it is set in a remote hamlet of Hartoft in the North York Moors National Park. Set on a small hill farm in 38 private acres, it is a perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. Watch the wildlife from the patio or you could just unwind and enjoy the peace.

Once one of the farm buildings, is now a perfect semi-detached holiday cottage in the beautiful countryside of Hartoft, near Pickering. Set in 38 acres of private farmland with fields that are interspersed with woodland and streams. This peaceful secluded location has a wonderful view across the valley where there is a chance to see an abundance of wildlife including deer, foxes, owls and badgers. The cottage is spacious and benefits from having two bathrooms, one on the ground floor and one on the first floor. The cosy living room is welcoming with a wood burner for those winter walking breaks, curl up after a day walking the many trails around the cottage. It is a great place to base yourself while exploring the North York Moors.

Storey Farm Cottage is situated on the edge of Cropton Forest where you will find an abundance of walks and bike trails, as well as lots of wildlife. Dalby Forest is also just a short drive, home to one of the World Cup mountain bike trails. Challenge yourself with exhilarating runs, or for those who just want a leisurely bike ride or walk, there are acres of woodland paths to enjoy. Dalby Forest is also home to ’Go Ape’, a fantastic tree-top adventure activity course with zip wires, high ropes and challenging obstacles.

Rosedale Abbey is just over 3 miles from the cottage, once an industrial village with a thriving mining industry of iron ore, now a very pretty traditional Yorkshire village with a village green, stunning countryside and great cafés. It’s very popular with walkers and cyclists who often stop for their break on the village green and enjoy the local produce. The town of Pickering is a 10-minute drive, and home to the North Yorkshire Moors steam railway. Here you can catch the steam train across the moors from Pickering to Whitby, stopping off at Goathland and Grosmont, both featured in the TV programme ’Heartbeat’.

North Yorkshire is famous for its market towns and you are perfectly based with this cottage to visit them, including Pickering, Malton, Thirsk and Helmsley. These towns boast many independent shops, eateries and farmers’ markets. For those who enjoy the coast, Whitby is around a 30-minute drive away, a resort that is as popular in the winter as it is in the summer. Whitby Abbey is the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s book ’Dracula’ and is perched on the hillside overlooking the town. Beach 18 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.

Tiggywinkle Cottage sits in the heart of the picturesque village of Hawnby. Surrounded by the North York Moors National Park, this 200-year-old, detached, traditional Yorkshire cottage, which was fully refurbished and extended in 2020, is simply delightful. Tiggywinkle Cottage was named by a walker during the 1950s who took time to sit and draw the property. The villagers fell in love with the name and so it remains, along with the original pencil sketch which now hangs within the cottage.
On arrival visitors are welcomed into the open plan living area. This room oozes character with its low ceilings and stone floors, tall visitors will need to take care! There is a country kitchen and large comfortable sofas around the wood burner in the open plan living area. Ideal to snuggle up and enjoy an evening’s entertainment on the 32’’ Smart TV or simply sit and enjoy a good book and glass of wine after a long day walking or cycling in the National Park. You will find everything you need to cook your favourite holiday recipes whilst the dining area provides comfortable seating for four. A ground floor bedroom offers a zip and link option and an en-suite bathroom, both bedrooms have pocket spring mattresses and feather down duvets. The vaulted ceiling with Velux window gives this room a lovely feel and a door leads to the patio where you could enjoy an evening tipple or an early morning coffee, watching the sun come up over the National Park.
To the first floor is a second bedroom with lovely views and a zip and link super king-size bed and an en-suite bathroom. Both bedrooms are beautifully decorated and furnished to a very good standard. With deep mattresses and luxurious bed linen you are assured a great night’s sleep, ensuring you will wake refreshed and ready for another day. To the front is a pretty paved area with seating.
Tiggywinkle Cottage is only 8 miles from Helmsley, one of Yorkshire’s finest market towns. This wonderful village is where the North York Moors and the Howardian Hills meet, offering some of the finest views and countryside. Helmsley is also a walker’s paradise where the Ebor Way meets the Cleveland Way, and also the Inn Way. With a reputation for great Yorkshire hospitality, the market square is a meeting point for walkers, cyclists and locals alike. There are also many shops, cafés, eateries including Michelin starred restaurants, an open-air swimming pool, walled garden, castle, bird of prey centre, microbrewery, two abbey ruins and the stately home of Duncombe Park. The scenic east coast is easily accessible, as is the historic city of York, 24 miles to the south. Shop 1 mile. Village pub 500 yards, other local pubs and restaurants 7 miles.

Within the North York Moors National Park, in a sheltered wooded valley close to the magnificent ruins of Rievaulx Abbey, these spacious, comfortable and well equipped holiday cottages stand in a landscaped courtyard, close to the owners’ farmhouse. Visitors can wander the 70 acres of beautifully tended grounds or relax in the shared terrace garden with its small lake and river frontage. The views over the surrounding countryside are superb, and there is excellent walking from the doorstep. Long distance footpaths along this area’s Heritage Coastline, and the Cleveland Way, offer perfect terrain for walkers and cyclists. The Ryedale Folk Museum at popular Hutton-Le-Hole, and the ruins of Rosedale Abbey are both worth a visit. For a day out, the North York Moors Railway runs steam train journeys between Grosmont and Pickering. Whitby, is easily reached, with miles of sandy beaches and an ancient abbey overlooking its harbour. Scarborough, and the coastal villages of Staithes, Runswick Bay and Sandsend are all within 20 miles. Horse racing at Thirsk, Wetherby and York, 25 miles.
