A short drive will take you to the Wood of Cree where you can enjoy a peaceful stroll through the largest ancient wood in southern Scotland. For a more challenging walk, visit the stunning Cairnsmore of Fleet, framing unspoilt views across the grassland and purple heather from the summit. Stock up on food and supplies in the burgh town of Newton Stewart where you can also find some delightful eateries and pubs.
