Uphill Lincoln is only a 15 minute drive away with its magnificent cathedral boasting striking architecture and used as a film location for both The Da Vinci Code and coronation scenes in Young Victoria, walk the walls of Lincoln Castle and climb the tower, taking in views over the city, in the summer months, enjoy the open-air theatre, pop and rock concerts and re-enactment weekends in the castle grounds, the castle also houses one of only four surviving original copies of Magna Carta, the Cathedral Quarter of Lincoln is full of independent shops and restaurants and hosts the famous Christmas market every December, take the cobbled streets down Steep Hill to the city centre which has a bustling high street, the Theatre Royal and the Brayford Pool area which has many water front restaurants. The city of Lincoln is just a short journey away and well worth a trip, too, with a magnificent cathedral, a wide variety of shopping experiences and an 11th century castle, there's plenty here to see and do for all ages and interests.
