This family-friendly farm is the perfect choice if you are looking for a rural retreat just minutes from the seaside. Set on a 120-acre, family-run working farm, these two lovely cottages (Goose Cottage ref UKC2676 and Barn Cottage ref UKC2682), offer comfortable and welcoming accommodation. Located just ¾ mile from Widemouth Bay, one of the most spectacular stretches of coastline in north Cornwall, there is something here to suit guests of all ages. You could even book both of the properties together for extended family or friends.
The larger cottage, Goose Cottage is a charming barn conversion and boast lovely views of the surrounding rural landscape. With spacious open plan living space, it is ideal for enjoyable gatherings of families or friends. Barn Cottage offers a first floor living room, complete with doors which open onto a small decked balcony where guests can admire the magnificent views across rolling fields and out to the sea. Both properties enjoy shared access to the range of facilities found on-site, including a tennis court and a children’s outdoor play area with slides, swings and a climbing wall. Why not take a dip in the heated outdoor swimming pool, or challenge friends and family to the variety of games found in the small indoor games barn including table tennis, air hockey and a small pool table. A communal utility room with washing machines and a tumble dryer is available for both properties. Friendly chickens, ducks and geese roam the courtyard, and the tame peacock may pay you a visit to your door. There is a woodland walk to the rear, and a 20-minute walk on a footpath across the fields to the front will take you across sheep grazed meadows to Widemouth Bay.
Widemouth Bay is an extremely popular holiday destination and is world famous for surfing. It has far reaching, exceptional sandy beaches, and provides miles of coastal paths for enthusiastic walkers. The well loved tourist town of Bude is just 3 miles further up the coast. The town offers an indoor swimming pool, shops, restaurants, horse riding, a golf course and tenpin bowling. For the keen walker there are many opportunities both along the south west coastal path route, which runs the entire coastline of Cornwall and offers stunning cliff walks, and on nearby Bodmin Moor. Beach 1 mile. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Airyhemming Dairy is a detached former Dairyman’s Cottage situated on a working dairy farm yet set away from the buzz of the farm, in peaceful countryside, with views over farmland to the rolling Galloway Hills. Enjoy this restored cottage, whether it be sitting in front of the cosy wood burner, enjoying a game of pool in the games room or star gazing from your very own hot tub. The cottage also boasts its own stretch of water for brown trout fishing. The charming village of Glenluce has local shops and pubs. This area of Dumfries and Galloway boasts rugged coastlines and secluded sandy beaches which benefit from the warmth of the passing Gulf Stream and is surrounded by breathtaking scenery, offering an ideal base from which to explore the Machars Peninsula and the Galloway Hills. There are many beautiful gardens to explore, including the world renowned Logan Botanical Gardens. The area boasts many pretty little ports like Sandhead, Portpatrick and the RSPB Scotland Mull of Galloway Nature Reserve where thousands of seabirds nest on the cliff face during the spring and summer. Walking is a delight, whether cliff top, beaches, hills or forests and the Southern Upland Way passes close by. It is a cyclist’s paradise with the world famous 7Stanes within easy reach. If you prefer shooting or golf, there are many facilities nearby including the County Course, just 2 miles away. The town of Stranraer, which is only 8 miles away, offers a wider range of shops, pubs and restaurants. Nearby Cairnryan is home to the Stena Line ferry making a day trip to Ireland a great day out. Care with young children please - sea walls, open jetty, pond, swimming pool and fishing off the property walls or off the old jetty.
Boating at Burton – Launching facilities 200 yards, floating pontoon 50 yards and many boat trips available along the river including Shearwater Safaris and Cleddau Cruises from Neyland Marina 2½ miles away. The small town of Neyland is just 2½ miles away with an excellent traditional butchers shop, newsagent, pharmacy, card shop and Post Office. The nearest big supermarkets and banks are in Pembroke Dock 2 miles away over the Cleddau bridge. Beach 7 miles. Pub and restaurant 12 yards.

Wernddu Fechan Bungalow is perfect for an extended family break or friends alike looking to explore this fabulous area. The property has full wheelchair access and ramp level access to the ground floor, there is a ground floor double room and walk-in shower for those with reduced mobility. A great open kitchen/dining room leads to the rear garden through French doors – perfect for al-fresco dining! There is an enclosed grassed area for the dogs to run about freely and a paddock to the side of the property (not fully enclosed). The living room is perfect for a night in or relaxing in front of the wood burner with a glass of something refreshing.
For your comfort there are digital thermostats downstairs that control the underfloor heating, with additional, separate controls for the master bedroom and hallway. Upstairs has individual thermostatic radiator valves. The patio area outside to the front of the property has glass balustrades surrounding the front of the property and to the rear is a patio area and grassed garden. The property sits within 10 acres of land.
Both Neath town centre and Swansea are easily accessible being approximately 4-5 miles from the property.
The Neath Valley in South Wales is an increasingly popular area for UK holidays. The location lends itself well to those looking to explore the diverse countryside of the area. With cycle paths and walking trails on your doorstep, there is plenty to explore.
The valley is home to some of Wales’s most impressive waterfalls, including Aberdulais, Melincourt, Pontneddfechan and Sgwd yr Eira. Impressive hills will keep you busy, head to Afan Forest Park, 20 minutes away, for hilly bike trails or Penyfan in the Brecon Beacons, which is the tallest peak in South Wales.
For family fun days out, the National Showcaves Centre for Wales at Dan yr Ogof, The National Botanic Gardens, Folly Farm, quad biking and Zip World are firm favourites in the area. Aberavon beach is 8½ miles away, or visit the famous beaches of the Gower Peninsula, The Mumbles and Swansea Bay are all within 40 minutes or less. Pendine sands, Tenby, Carmarthen, Bridgend (McArthur Glen Designer Outlet Village), Cardiff, Newport, Prince of Wales Stadium are all within an hour’s drive. The Penderyn Whisky distillery is under 30 minutes away where tours are available. Multiple local golf courses are available as is some of the best Salmon and Sewin (Seatrout) fishing in the UK on the rivers Towy, Teifi, Gwilli and Cothi, a personal ghillie can even be arranged for you. It is a perfect base for anyone wishing to fish the Golden Grove or Abercothi Estates waters. Other coarse and flyfishing lakes and reservoirs are also available. Horse riding with a local equestrian centre is also available.
All in all you could not find a more centrally located place for a holiday in South Wales.
