Carr House farmhouse is set on a working farm, but only minutes away from the attractions of Scarborough and only 1½ miles from the well known surfing beach at Cayton Bay, which also welcomes dog walkers throughout the year. This detached farmhouse is ideal for touring the North Yorkshire coast, from Whitby in the north to Bridlington in the south. A short journey inland takes you to the North York Moors, ’Heartbeat’ Country and Pickering for the steam railway, whilst York for its historic attractions is less than an hour away.

For activities nearby there is Dalby Forest for cycling and tree climbing, Wykeham Lakes for fishing, or the many beaches which offer the chance to just relax, sail, surf, sunbathe, paddle, and build sandcastles. Scarborough is a vibrant seaside resort with lots of family attractions, such as the waterpark, Sealife Centre and crazy golf, as well as a funfair, ice-cream parlours, amusements, and donkey rides. It also boasts superb live entertainment at the Open Air Theatre, with major acts booked each summer, and shows at the Scarborough Spa and the renowned Stephen Joseph Theatre. Beach 2 miles. Just 2 miles from South Steading, is the pretty seaside town of West Kilbride with fantastic views across the water to Arran and surrounding islands. Designated Scotland’s first Craft Town, visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll around the village where they will find a range of cafes, mini galleries, a dedicated craft centre, pubs and gift shops. Also offering the more practical elements for your holiday such as a post office, small supermarkets and a railway station.
Ayrshire is famous worldwide for golf and offers world class championship courses at Turnberry, Royal Troon and Prestwick. The West Kilbride Golf Club offers a championship links course located in Seamill, 3 miles from the farm.
Largs and Ardrossan are popular seaside towns, 8 miles and 7 miles away respectively, where there are watersports offered. Sandy beaches in Seamill. The Firth of Clyde has excellent sailing with yachting clubs and marinas at Ardrossan,Largs, Inverkip and Troon. There are also good opportunities for hill walking and mountain biking, field sports including horse riding, shooting and fishing. Visitors will enjoy visiting the historic castles at Portencross, Hunterston and Law Castle and enjoy the views from the local Tarbert Hill and Law Hill.
Ferries from Ardrossan a short distance from the barn take you to isle of Arran and short ferry hop from Largs to the small island of Cumbrae to visit the only town on the island, Millport for an icecream or enjoy a cycle, 11miles around the whole island.

There are many exciting and beautiful cycle paths straight from your door or try the world famous 7Stanes challenge. There is an abundance of local lochs and rivers if fishing is preferred! There is something for everyone in this beautiful unspoilt corner of Scotland. The cottage is only a few minutes drive from the charming town of Gatehouse of Fleet which offers a wide range of places to eat and relax. Tucked away on a quiet country lane just 5 miles from the sandy beaches at Chapel St Leonards is this spacious bungalow ideal for a family break with a large garden including a big summerhouse and plenty of space for everyone to enjoy.
Within 15 minutes’ drive you have the traditional seaside resorts of Skegness and Mablethorpe, Fantasy Island, Butlins, Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve as well as The Lincolnshire Wolds. A nearby footpath through the field takes you to the village pub where you can have food, and is a 10-minute walk away, before you return to soak in your own private hot tub and enjoy the open view across the fields.
For those wishing to enjoy a very popular gastro pub there is one at Skendleby approximately a 10-minute drive away. You can even bring your family dog, with two small dogs welcome, but please be aware there could be cattle or sheep in adjacent fields. There are very good walks from the door with the area also being very popular for cyclists. Beach 5 miles. Pub and restaurant ¾ mile.

Located under 3 miles from Crackington Haven, a coastal village at the head of a cove on the Atlantic coast and in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is popular with tourists, walkers, surfers and geology enthusiasts. At high tide the shoreline is mainly stony but when low you are greeted to a lovely golden sandy beach with plenty of rock pools to enjoy. And surfers, both experienced and beginners enjoy the varying tidal conditions the cove provides and with lifeguard cover from July to end of September you can relax a little bit more too! Locally there are also tea rooms and a pub to enjoy. On-site, there is a shared games room with pool table, air hockey, dart board, large chalk board, disco ball and bluetooth speaker.
If it’s the beach you want with miles of sand, swimming and surf then you’ll be spoiled for choice in the wider area. Much of the coastline is owned by the National Trust and is a haven for wildlife, providing fabulous walking opportunities. There are many pretty coves and inlets to discover within a short drive of this property including Boscastle, Morwenstow and stunning Tintagel, inextricably linked to the legend of King Arthur. Further afield the fishing port of Padstow is a popular tourist destination too. Bude is a fabulous coastal town that once visited, you will want to come back to time and time again. It has something for everyone including great beaches for relaxing and building sandcastles on, rockpools for investigating at low tide and cafés to watch it all from. The rolling waves are great for surfing all year round and the footpaths by the restored canal or on the South West Coast Path offer you a superb opportunity to explore and appreciate the outstanding countryside.
Bude also has a superb golf course, indoor swimming pool, bowling alley/indoor play area and a heritage centre at Bude Castle. It also has a good selection of local shops, supermarkets, cafés, pubs, restaurants and an excellent information centre.
