With the feel of a traditional seaside resort, colourful beach huts line Goodrington Sands, steam trains chug their way along one of the UK’s most photographed stretches of coastline, and visitors pedal their way around the boating lakes. You’ll also find Splashdown water park just minutes away, and Paignton Zoo five minutes away by car.

In a rural location and gloriously positioned on the northern coast of the Llyn Peninsula, and enjoying a stunning outlook over the dramatic sea and shoreline, this detached, single storey holiday property boasts its own blissful hot tub, and offers very comfortable and spacious holiday accommodation. Refurbished with new windows and doors in 2021, it sits just a short stroll from the beautiful little Porth Colmon harbour and beach, where you can enjoy an occasional visit from the dolphins and seals. A scenic cliff top walk takes you to the uncrowded golden sands of Traeth Penllech, a relatively unknown part of the peninsula. Auchendennan Farm Cottage (SLLX) is a single-storey holiday cottage; within the house there is a large family sauna which can be used as an ideal way to unwind. Outside on the sun decking, there is a sunken hot tub which is large enough for all the family and powerful enough to give tired muscles a proper massage. Rose Cottage (SRRG) is a single-storey conversion adjoining the owner’s farmhouse. Combining modern and traditional furnishings, the property boasts a superb hot tub and external sun decked area for relaxing and unwinding. Burnbeag (SVVE) is a stunning, detached cottage to the rear of the steadings and has a stream running through its private enclosed garden, which has a decked area and hot tub. Courtyard Studio (SVVD) is a single-storey barn conversion set in the courtyard, behind the main house. Chestnut Cottage (SXXO), Willow Cottage (SXXP), Primrose Cottage (SXXQ) and Ivy Cottage (SXXR) are all pretty single-storey, semi-detached holiday cottages, with open-plan living areas and a cosy, wood-burning stove.
In summer, Loch Lomond’s ancient oak woods ring with birdsong. Look out for redstarts, pied flycatchers and wood warblers. Ospreys are summer visitors to the loch and nearby Lake of Menteith. In the high country of Breadalbane, golden eagles may be seen soaring over mountain slopes richly carpeted in alpine plants. Watch out for porpoises and seals and glimpse Loch Lomond’s herd of fallow deer as they bound through the trees. Loch Lomond and Loch Earn are some of Scotland’s prime venues for sailing and water-skiing, while the rivers Balvaig and Teith are popular with canoeists. The Teith is also a great salmon river and one of many places popular with anglers. For golfing enthusiasts, the famous courses of Loch Lomond are just a short distance from the property, with an abundance of courses for all standards within easy reach.
Walking is a popular pursuit, from gentle low-level strolls to strenuous mountain climbs. Ben Lomond, Ben Lui, Ben Ime and Ben Vorlich are among the 21 Munros (mountains over 3000 feet). The West Highland Way stretches from the edge of Glasgow to Fort William, hugging the banks of Loch Lomond and passing through the spectacular mountain scenery of Strathfillan. There are great opportunities for cycling on and off road on National Cycle Network Route 7, which passes through the National Park from Balloch to Killin. Cameron House, the 5 star golf/spa resort is just minutes from the property where one can enjoy fine dining, day spa packages and championship golf. Lomond Shores, again a short distance from the property, offers designer shopping, loch cruises and an aquarium. The cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh are easily accessible by car boasting award winning restaurants, theatres, galleries and concert venues, designer shopping as well as many tourist attractions including the breath-taking Edinburgh Castle. This barn conversion, adjacent to the owner’s home, is set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in a tranquil, secluded location. This is the ideal holiday location being just a 5-minute drive from Lands End, which boasts spectacular cliffs with breathtaking scenery, and the very popular Sennen beach, which enjoys good surf and spectacular sunsets. The white sand of this popular beach attracts families and keen surfers. St Just is the nearest town, just 3 miles away, and has a busy square with shops, a bakery, four pubs, craft shops and art galleries. The fishing village of Mousehole is 6 miles with its small sandy beach area, pretty harbour, narrow twisting streets lined with excellent restaurants and pubs, or slightly further is St Ives, 12 miles. Penzance is also worth a visit, with its wealth of amenities including museums, fishing, golf, tennis and horse riding, as well as day trips to the Isles of Scilly. St Michael’s Mount at Marazion is a further 3 miles from Penzance. There is easy access to spectacular walks in the surrounding countryside and the coastal path to Cape Cornwall in one direction and Land’s End in the other. For cultural enthusiasts the St Ives Tate Gallery is on offer or the open air Minack Theatre at Porthcurno. Fossils’ End is a single-storey barn conversion, ideal for a rural retreat within the heart of the Dorset countryside. Accessed via a rough track, the property is located in Chickerell, close to the Georgian town of Weymouth, which boasts a golden sandy beach, picturesque harbour and is ideally positioned along the UNESCO Jurassic Coastline. It borders the owners’ home and is perfect for couples, family and friends who wish to enjoy the beautiful surrounding area of Dorset. The name Fossils’ End derives itself from local fossils that were found in nearby Dorset villages, which have been entwined into the barn, including a sea anemone found in Nottington and a petrified wood fossil found in nearby Charminster. The property offers an open plan living space with electric fire and French doors opening on to the front of the property with a large unspoilt garden (not enclosed). In the garden shed you will find sun loungers and patio chairs to use during your stay. The rear of the property offers some lovely Dorset countryside views and walking areas.
The UNESCO Jurassic Coastline is 3 miles away, with highlights such as Chesil Beach to explore, while Abbotsbury, West Bay, Bridport, Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove are slightly further away. The Jurassic Coastline is home to over 300 coastal country walks, offering some breath taking views over Dorset’s 200 million year old shoreline. The county town, known as Thomas Hardy’s town, of Dorchester, is home to Roman relics, Brewery Square and the pioneering architectural royal development of Poundbury. Take a trip to the Isle of Portland, host to the 2012 Olympic Games and home to the world famous National Sailing Academy.
Heading out west from Chickerell is a delight, where the outstanding views and ‘chocolate-box’ villages can be admired. The swannery at Abbotsbury provides the opportunity to observe the resident colony of mute swans, which has been in existence since the 14th century. From late May, visitors can walk around the nesting area, observing the cygnets at close quarters. Another attraction at Abbotsbury are the sub-tropical gardens, which flourish in a site protected from the cold winds. Here you can find species rare to Britain such as Japanese camellias and Caucasian wingnut.
It’s a great location with so many popular tourist attractions close by including Monkey World, Bovington Tank Museum and the National Trust’s Corfe Castle, all of which all make great family days out. Slightly further afield, you can visit Swanage, Poole and Poole Quay. Poole harbour is the second largest natural harbour in the world and from here you can take the ferry to Sandbanks or Brownsea Island Nature Reserve with its red squirrels. Why not take the ferry for the day to visit the Channel Islands of Guernsey and Jersey? Lyme Regis is also another hot spot to visit, known locally as the ‘Pearl of Dorset’, and is a great place for searching for fossils found in the cliffs and along the beach. Beach 3 miles. Shore Meadow is a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Set just 150 yards from a beautiful, secluded sandy beach and enjoying an idyllic position in this tranquil, south-western corner of the Lakes where the mountains almost meet the sea. This semi-detached cottage is a short walk from the peaceful village centre of Silecroft. It has stunning westerly views over the Irish Sea to the Isle of Man and easterly views to Black Combe Fell. The beach extends for miles in both directions and is perfect for dog walking, lazy days building sandcastles or taking to the sea for fishing.

Shore Meadow has two double bedrooms and has been furnished and equipped to provide a really comfortable stay. There is a spacious breakfast kitchen which opens to a patio area with outside furniture, a large living room with two sofas and a wood burner, plus a separate dining room with French doors to the garden. There is also a large, enclosed, lawned garden, ideal for young children and dogs, and private parking for two cars.

Black Combe, the closest of the Lake District Fells, is only 2 miles away, and all of the westerly fells, including Scafell and Scafell Pike, are within easy reach, offering great walking for all abilities. Nearby attractions include Cumbria Heavy Horses, a BHS approved riding centre offering fell and beach rides on Clydesdale and Shire horses; water sports centre at Port Haverigg; South Lakeland Wild Animal Park, home to tigers, lions, white rhino, giraffes and lots of monkeys; historic Muncaster Castle, with stunning gardens and many seasonal events, also home of the World Owl Trust, and Ravenglass and Eskdale Narrow Gauge Railway, where you can ride a steam train through some of the most beautiful scenery in the Lake District. A farm shop and gallery at nearby Bootle also offers breakfasts, lunches and afternoon teas. Short, beautiful drives take you to Coniston, with the Ruskin Museum which houses geology and copper mining exhibits; the boating centre and Bluebird Café, or Whitehaven, Cumbria’s oldest harbour, where the Rum Story exhibition gives a fresh view on the town, and The Beacon Museum, with five floors of interactive exhibits, powerful telescopes and seafaring displays, providing a fun family day out.
