Rosary House is a spacious stone farmhouse which was built in 1750 and is located in the quaint village of Irton, 4 miles from the glorious golden Cayton Bay, with the larger coastal destinations of Scarborough and Filey also within a 15-minute drive. This period property offers a unique and cosy stay with an exceptionally large enclosed garden and ample parking. Ideal for large families and groups of friends, especially for special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries.
The house sleeps up to eight people comfortably with a kingsize bed, double bed, small double and two single beds. There is a main upstairs bathroom with a bath and a newly fitted downstairs shower room. Each room is well presented with gorgeous original features, such as exposed stone walls and beamed ceilings adding to its charm. The kitchen is well equipped with an Aga, as well as an electric cooker. The owner’s aim is to make this a home from home, and you will find all the facilities and equipment you would expect to find at your own house here too. In summer the beautiful extensive gardens, equipped with a hot tub and gas BBQ can be enjoyed by all. In winter you can cosy up by the two wood burners in either of the sitting rooms, equipped with Smart TVs. There is also an electric double garage available but please request this at the time of booking the key fob can be left for you. There are mountain bikes for guests to enjoy in the end stable but please respect them as if they were your own.
There is something for everyone to enjoy during your stay at Rosary House, with Scarborough only a short 10-minute drive away where you can spend the day at the beach, or check out the impressive views of the coast from Scarborough Castle. You can dine out at one of the many local village pubs in Irton, and the award-winning fish and chip shop which are only a short walk away. If you would like to venture a little further, Whitby is only a 40-minute drive, or you can experience an old-fashioned steam train ride from Pickering to Whitby. Families can enjoy a day out at the Sea Life Centre in Scarborough or Flamingo Land, near Pickering, only 30 minutes away. You can hop on the train to the historical city of York for a day trip and The North York Moors are right on your doorstep for great walking routes. Please note that the small double bedroom is accessed through the double bedroom.

Braeside House is perched high above Tobermory town centre in a quiet residential area just 5 minutes’ walk from the main street on the shore front, yet far enough away to enjoy your privacy and enjoys views over the town and Tobermory Bay. Decorated to a very high standard with original and unusual artwork adorning the walls and all home comforts, Braeside House can accommodate a larger family yet is still comfortable and cosy for a small group.
Set on the edge of a moor, Braeside is semi-rural and lies within 5 minutes’ walk of the centre of Tobermory with its main street of brightly painted buildings from pier to pier, small beach, and high woodland-fringed hills, surrounding the bay. Built as a fishing port in the late 18th century, Tobermory is a renowned for its picture postcard colour and is the main town on Mull with a good variety of shops, hotels, cafés, and bars. The harbour is always busy with fishing boats, yachts, and the ferry to and from Kilchoan. There are some beautiful walks from Tobermory, a stroll out to the Lighthouse at Rubha nan Gall or a more strenuous walk into Aros Park. Tobermory is an ideal location as a base for wildlife watching on the Isle of Mull which is well known for the re-introduction of white-tailed eagles which can be seen throughout the length and breadth of the island, including Tobermory.
Daily Boat trips leave Tobermory for trips to Staffa and the Treshnish Isles as the seas off the coast of Mull are important feeding areas for whales, dolphins, and basking sharks. With luck you may catch a glimpse of a rare golden eagle, otter, corncrake or many of other birds and mammals seen on the island. The Isle of Mull sits off the west coast of Scotland and is the second largest of the inner Hebridean islands. Easily accessible from the mainland with car and passenger ferries running regularly from the mainland with the main route being from Oban to Craignure via Caledonian MacBrayne. Boasting approximately 300 miles of coastline from rugged cliffs to both white and black sandy beaches, the beauty of Mull can be enjoyed year-round with an ever-changing, spectacular landscape.
Mull is a surprisingly big island and has so much to offer with many villages, lochs, and beaches to explore. You can also easily visit the iconic island of Iona, the tiny isle of Ulva or the slightly more distant Treshnish islands. There is easy ferry access to the mainland from Tobermory to the Ardnamurchan Peninsula or from nearby Fishnish onto the mainland Morvern Peninsula.

Should you be looking for activities nearby, you are spoilt for choice. A firm favourite and within a 19 minute drive is The West Midlands Safari Park with its array of exotic animals and close up encounters. All the family including the pooches will love a visit to the nearby Wyre Forest, within 15 minutes you can be in the largest woodland National Nature Reserve in the country. You can all explore the arboretum to find the unusual Whitty Pear and you can of course refuel at their on-site café if you forget to pack the picnic. The young at heart can even ‘Go Ape’ on the treeline assault course for some high adrenaline fun. In addition to this there is variety of walking, cycling, running and horse trails available, there’s plenty of ways to explore the forest. No one must be left out when visiting the forest either, even those who have reduced mobility can join in all the fun as a ‘tramper scooter’ can be hired. Pampered pooches will be glad to know that the forest has even got a dog wash on-site to keep them pampered after a muddy day of exploring.
Nearby is The city of Worcester which offers guests an abundance of retail and leisure facilities, eateries and horse racing on the banks of the River Severn. The traditional market town of Tenbury Wells is only a few miles away and provides excellent high-street shopping, cute eateries and of course a handful of traditional watering holes.

After a busy day exploring you can retire upstairs to the bedrooms, each one beautifully presented. The master bedroom has a solid oak super king bed, Smart TV and an en-suite bathroom, and there is a further kingsize room, both of these rooms have ceiling fans to keep you cool on hot summer evenings. Within a moment’s walk of Captain’s Cottage is the bus station, which has great links to anywhere on the island and there is also an open-top bus in the summer season, great for sight seeing. At the end of the road, there is also a train station, which stops at several coastal towns. Osborne House was once Queen Victoria’s favourite residence and is open to the public and well worth a visit, as are Carisbrook Castle, The Needles rock formations, Robin Hill park with acres of parkland, natural woodland, countryside gardens, adventures, and special events, Ventnor Botanical Gardens and Shanklin Chine, a deep wooded gorge with streams and waterfalls.
The model village at Godshill is also not to be missed as this gives a good overview of the island and its attractions, all in miniature of course. Start your holiday as soon as you hop onto one of the many ferry options, whether you whiz over on the Hovercraft or one of the car ferry links.
