This charming former fisherman’s cottage, with enclosed garden, is set in the heart of Fishertown which forms part of the lively town of Nairn. Located on the Moray Coast, Nairn boasts a sandy beach which is just a few minutes’ walk from the holiday cottage. A toy cupboard provides amusement at the cottage. Seashell Cottage is ideally situated to enjoy the variety of facilities the town has to offer including a links golf course, fishing and boat trips to see the bottlenose dolphins. Cawdor and Brodie Castle are nearby along with numerous distilleries - take the Whisky Trail on Speyside. Just three miles from the seaside village of Nairn with its long sweeping sandy beaches and local amenities, Tigh Na Bruiach (Gaelic for ‘House on the Hill’) makes a super holiday base for exploring this wonderful part of the Northern Highlands. Visit Culloden Battlefield, Fort George, Inverness, and Loch Ness, all within a very easy drive. Brodie and Cawdor Castles are just a short distance and well worth a visit. You can meander along the Moray Coast and visit some of the beautiful, unspoilt beaches and hopefully catch sight of the dolphins, seals and large variety of birdlife this area is renowned for. Take a trip along the Malt Whisky Trail – the only one of its kind in the world! Further afield, go to the scenic West Coast, Fort William or the enigmatic Orkney Islands. Balmore Farmhouse is located just a few miles south of Inverness and is only 2 miles away from the infamous Loch Ness. The property has been fully renovated to a good standard and offers guests a superb level of comfort and space.

Inverness, the Highland capital, Loch Ness and Culloden Battlefield are just a short drive and the stunning west coast is a fantastic day out. The many activities in the area include mountain biking, golf, water sports and boat trips, quad biking, walking and climbing, to name just a few. Aonach Cottage offers complete tranquillity in a truly peaceful setting. Only 3 miles from sea lochs and the amenities of Glencoe village, the cottage has all the comforts and flexibility of home, among the spectacular and dramatic mountain scenery of Glencoe. It sits below some of Scotland’s highest mountains, and enjoys panoramic mountain views, including a stunning view of the Aonach Eagach Ridge and towards Bidean Nam Bian. There are numerous walks from the door, including to the Corbett Meall Lighiche and the lesser-known Munro, Sgor na h-Ulaidh. The views from the windows are just stunning. With no light pollution, you can enjoy star gazing across the dark night sky. From the front door you can wander further up the peaceful glen alongside a mountain burn and enjoy beautiful scenery and a feeling of being in the hills, even if you are not a hill walker.
Sharing a completely enclosed deer-fenced area of the mountain with its sister cottage Bidean Cottage (UK41933) and the owners’ farmhouse, Aonach Cottage is accessed by a 1-mile hard surfaced farm road off the main route through Glencoe. Glencoe is a lovely highland village with many amenities including a mini-market, café, hotel, pub, filling station, church and dentists and there are some fabulous restaurants, cafés, and pubs nearby, all serving good, local food. The nearby village of Ballachulish has a small supermarket, doctor’s surgery, tourist information with coffee shop and a bar/restaurant. Steeped in history, Glencoe is surrounded by the most breath-taking scenery of mountains and lochs and the area offers a large range of sports and outdoor activities, including winter sports, hill walking, climbing, mountaineering, fishing and water sports, mountain biking and golfing. The town of Fort William is 18 miles or 30 minutes’ drive, from the cottages and offers shopping and a wealth of activities. Oban, known as the ’Gateway to the Isles’, is only 36 miles away. Glencoe Mountain Resort, with skiing, mountain biking and other activities is a 20-minute drive through the glen.

From its idyllic setting in a small bay 200 yards from the shore, a complete coastal panorama can be enjoyed across the Sound of Sleat from this substantial holiday home: there are magnificent views northwards to Ben Sgritheall, Loch Hourn and Knoydart; eastwards to Loch Nevis, and southwards to Ardnamurchan Point. Beautifully appointed and extremely well-equipped (with three en-suite bathrooms), it is approached by a shared driveway, and stands in 3-acres of wild private garden with a small stream and a little glen. As well as the stunning sea views, the principal rooms offer the chance to observe an abundance of wildlife, including herons, curlews, eagles and even the occasional otter.
Delicious meals can be enjoyed at five hotels, all within 7 miles: Toravaig Hotel, Ardvasar Hotel, The Isle Ornsay Hotel, Duisdale Hotel and Kinloch Lodge Hotel, the first hotel on Skye to be awarded a Michelin Star for its astounding restaurant in 2010. Day-trips can take in the Talisker Distillery, Dunvegan Castle and Portree, whilst (via ferry) touring can be enjoyed to Eigg, Rhum, Lochalsh – and even Fort William on the scenic West Highland line. Boat trips can be taken from Elgol (an hour’s drive) to magical Loch Coruisk in the heart of the Cuillin. Very popular in recent years, the sea safari boat trip from Armadale pier (3 miles), to the Old Forge on Knoydart for lunch or dinner, or the longer trip to look at the dolphins, Minke and hump back whales (regularly seen in July and August). Walks from the most demanding on the Black Cuillin which dominates this island to gentle strolls whilst good walking can be found in the more immediate area around the cottage itself. This beautiful, detached property is ideal for a week away in a scenic location. The town of Forres is easily accessible, boasting various shops, pubs and cafés where you can stock up on any essentials and delight in an evening away from the kitchen. Alternatively, travel to the seaside town of Nairn, where you will find fantastic amenities, or why not visit some local smaller highland villages close by.
There are plenty of popular attractions in the area, which offer the chance to discover the adventurous landscape of Scotland, including the Cairngorm Mountains, the famous Loch Ness and the glorious views and coastal attractions from Findhorn. This property and location have it all! For historical Scottish attractions, venture anywhere the list is vertically endless. From Brodie Castle and grounds less than a 15 minute drive away, to slightly further afield, Castle Urquhart, Loch Ness and attractions, Elgin Cathedral, Culloden Visitor Centre and battlefield. And proudly, Sueno’s Stone is a Picto-Scottish Class III standing stone. Situated in Forres just 7 miles away, it is the largest surviving Pictish style cross-slab stone of its type in Scotland, standing 6½ metres.
For sport and Adventure fanatics, Aviemore is just 35 minutes away, being a very popular highland town at the base of the Cairngorms Mountains, and is the heart of every sporting adventure any time of year. Everything you could want from mountain or quad biking, Skiing, winter sports, walking, climbing, water sports, and even Dog sled championships are held here! Ace Adventure is 5 minutes away, offering a huge range of sporting and water activities like canoeing, white water rafting, and cliff jumping to name a few, or, also offering paint balling, family rafting, canoeing, tubing and more for youngsters and families. Landmark Forest activity park is in Carrbridge 30 minutes away with climbing wall, high wire course, maze, raft ride and rollercoaster, making a brilliant family day out! A 5 minute drive away will land you at Randolph’s Leap and Slue walk, which equally are both breath-taking and spectacular.
Beach lovers can spend a day at one of the beautiful beaches in Moray Firth. Visit Findhorn Bay, beautiful Nairn Beach, the astonishing Cullen Bay and enjoy a once in a lifetime experience dolphin and Killer whale watching from the Moray Coastline or one of the many boat trips to get a little closer!
Whisky enthusiasts? This area, Moray and Speyside, is known as Malt Whisky County and The Laurels is slap-bang in the middle, with many distilleries we even have a Malt Whisky Trail. Only a 10 minute drive to the Benromach distillery, in Forres. A little further you have the very popular Speyside, famous for the abundance of local distillery tours, including The Macallan Estate, whilst a little further you will also find Dufftown on the stunning Speyside Way, with seven distilleries including Glenfiddich and Balvenie.
You’ll also find endless trails and walks along the roaring river, see where The Spey collides with the River Findhorn. High-rocky verges and swooping drops, these walks are hidden Local gems, and not to be missed!
Walking and biking a little closer to base? The large Garden is a great space for relaxing or games, and at the bottom of the garden is The Dava Way. This is recognised as one of Scotland’s Great Trails and is unquestionably one of the country’s finest long-distance walking and off-road cycling routes. It follows the old Highland Railway line for 24 miles (38 km) between Forres and Grantown-on-Spey! We are situated next to old Dunphail train station the most point of this trail. And if you look across the road from the house you will see the old platform hiding, but nature has started to take back! Having lots of outdoor space, you don’t need to go far past the doorstep! Walking adventures! The neighbouring woods, and Moore land 2 minutes’ walk from the door. Needless to say, this is the ideal base for holidaymakers wanting to visit the local area and many attractions that this location has to offer.

Borlum House Farm in Reay on the far north coast of Scotland is a brilliant location to be based for a memorable short break or longer holiday. The restored early 18th century farmhouse and buildings are surrounded by highland cows, lambs and chickens. The Annex is a converted barn attached to the farmhouse that was originally maid quarters.
The farm was originally part of the Sandside Estate which was owned at one time by Mr Pilkington of Pilkington Glass. Records date back to 1729 and it is known that the farm was a sheep farm with dairy for cheese-making. Situated in an enviable spot up the hill from Reay and overlooking the magnificent north coast of Scotland right out to sea, arriving at The Annex you’ll be delighted with the location you’ve picked for your holiday.
Just off the NC500 that goes through Reay, Borlum House Farm is perfectly placed as a base to explore the far north coast. As well as Sandside Bay Beach with Fresgoe Harbour, just down from Reay, and Reay’s fantastic links golf course, there’s so much to see and do that the NC500 touring route will help you reach.
Other amazing beaches nearby include Melvich and Strathy, which are loved by surfers. Historic Thurso is nearby and so too is the ferry port for trips over to Orkney, a great day-trip from Borlum House Farm. Beyond Thurso you must visit Dunnet Head, the Castle of Mey, John O’Groats and Duncansby Stacks. To be honest, the list of amazing places to see goes on and on, and alas we can’t feature all here. But be certain that there’s so much to do during your stay at Borlum House Farm.
The accommodations are finished to a high standard. Both cottages include a kingsize double bedroom with en-suite double shower cubicle. Highland Soap products and lovely bathrobes are provided. The open-plan living/dining/kitchen space is great, complete with Smart TV and woodburning stove. Outside each property there is a private and enclosed garden as well the freedom to explore the grounds of the farm and meet the animals. West cottage is situated just outside the village of Freuchie between the historic county town of Cupar and a larger new town of Glenrothes.
This charming ‘home away from home’ is the ideal base to explore the wonders of the beautiful Kingdom of Fife. This 3-bedroom cottage is ideal for families, couples and small groups and will sleep 6 people comfortably across 3 double bedrooms. The master bedroom has an en-suite shower room and there is a family bathroom off the main hall serving the rest of the property. The spacious living space includes a living/dining room and a second garden living room with a sunny western position. The kitchen is equipped with modern appliances and everything you’ll need for the few meals you’ll likely be preparing due to the number of fabulous restaurants, pubs and cafes nearby. There is parking for 3 cars and a lovely garden area outside.
The space outside is a wonderful spot to enjoy the world going by, the view and a flavour of the peace and quiet that only such tranquil areas can offer. Situated not far from the main North/South arterial motorway, the M90, West Cottage is exceptionally well located, allowing relatively easy access to county’s many attractions. Glasgow to the west will take just over an hour, Edinburgh and Dundee will take less than an hour as will the famous St Andrews with one of the UK’s finest beaches and of course the Home of Golf.
