Walkers and cyclists will enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the surrounding countryside, its many challenging or less strenuous walks or trails close by and any stargazers will delight in the dark sky offerings on the doorstep. The Northumberland Heritage Coast is less than 15 miles east and there are no less than 10 castles to explore within 25 miles, with many Iron Age discoveries to be had very close to the property.     Set in the town known as ’the friendliest port’, Kiwi Corner has been refurbished in 2020 and offers good size family accommodation. Amble has a strong community spirit and visitors are welcomed. The Sunday morning market on the harbour is popular with locals and visitors, next to the little shopping pods and award-winning ice cream parlour, it makes a lovely morning out. The little beach in Amble is near the pier where there are a few beach huts available to hire from the harbour master. Amble has a nice selection of restaurants for all tastes, cafés and a few shops and is at the start of the Heritage Coastal Route where you can travel up via Alnmouth, Craster, Beadnell and Bamburgh onto Holy Island, with each stop off offering something different.
    Northumberland is a very diverse county having the largest dark sky National Park in Europe so a visit over there should be taken to experience the beautiful forests and rugged terrain, making a lovely change to the coast. No trip to Northumberland is complete without a visit to Hadrian’s Wall, steeped in history, museums showing Roman artefacts and lovely walks. Only a few miles south you have beautiful beaches at Tynemouth and the lovely Spanish city in Whitley Bay. There are so many places to visit whilst staying at Kiwi Corner that visitors may just have to re-book to see more of this friendly county. Beach 800 yards. Crossing through stunning countryside, natural woodland and meadows, there are plenty of established public footpaths, cycle paths, bridleways and popular walks and cycle routes, as well as Roman forts and settlements that include Vindolanda, Chesters and Housesteads.
    There is an hourly bus service running into Hexham and Newcastle. With an abundance of history literally on the doorstep, Hexham is filled with interesting places to visit, explore and enjoy. Hexham Abbey sits proudly to the rear of Hexham House and dominates the market place of the town. Dating back to AD674, this old priory boasts an interactive exhibition and a visitor centre, as well as fabulous grounds and public spaces. The cultural city of Newcastle has many places of interest to visit, whether it be art and music at the Sage and Baltic on the shores of the Tyne or the Laing Gallery and Discovery Museum catering for all ages and interests. Explore the vibrant city centre and enjoy retail therapy with its fabulous shops and vast array of restaurants and coffee shops. The beautiful Northumberland coast at Bamburgh is around an hour’s drive and Tynemouth around 30 minutes.
