The scenic Tywi Valley is just a short drive away and is home to numerous majestic sites dotted along its glistening river, where you’ll find the 12th-century castles of Carreg Cennen and Dryslwyn and the enchanting gardens and nature reserve of Dinefwr Castle and Par. The elegant market town of Llandelio can also found here, providing a wealth of eclectic gifts shops, highly acclaimed restaurants and traditional Welsh pubs, with fine ales and fresh local produce always on the menu! With uninterrupted, stunning views and direct access to wonderful walks, Gwar Nant Cottage, renovated by the owners, is a very stylish holiday home lying in an enviable position within Rhandirmwyn, the small Carmarthenshire village with a big reputation. The garden and terrace of the cottage is a great place to relax and watch the varied visiting birds, and for cosy nights, the lounge with wood burning stove is the perfect place to be. This is a beautiful retreat to really get away from it all. The village, which is located in the Upper Tywi Valley boasts an award winning real ale pub with a reputation for great food, so good the Duchess of Cornwall has popped in for a drink as HRH Prince Charles has a country residence nearby.
The local area is steeped in history and tales, one such being the legend of highwayman Twm Siôn Cati, who hid out in caves near the village. The county of Carmarthenshire, known as ’The Garden of Wales’ has become a big draw for walkers, cyclists, anglers and lovers of the outdoors and is the largest county in southern Wales, stretching from Carmarthen Bay in the south to the western Brecon Beacons and Cambrian Mountains in the north. It offers rich landscapes, gardens, ancient castles, wildlife and sandy beaches as well as market towns brimming with local produce, chic shopping and eateries.
Llandeilo is one such town, less than 30 minutes drive away and the market town of Llandovery is just 10 minutes drive. Other places of interest nearby include National Trust Dolaucothi Goldmines (tours available) and the lakes of Llyn Brianne and Llyn-y-Fan Fach, the lake that gave rise to the Arthurian legend of the Lady of the Lake. Pendine is made famous for the land speed record, which was achieved by Malcolm Campbell; here you can step back in time at the Museum of Speed on the waterfront, enjoy the local traditional Welsh pub for an evening meal, breakfast at the café, and village shop with all the essentials.

Ffos Las racecourse, Glyn Abbey Golf Course, National Botanical Gardens of Wales and Pembrey Country Park are all within a 30-minute drive. Pembrokeshire and the Gower Peninsula offer a great day out for family and friends.
The Llanelli Wetland Centre is a must see, here you can hand feed the rarest Goose in the world, go bug hunting, see flamingos and enjoy bird watching from hides. The ancient town of Kidwelly is only a 5 minute drive away and is really worth a visit with plenty of shops and restaurants, and one of the finest preserved Norman Castles in Wales. Pembrey Country Park is around 10 minutes away and is fantastic for busy families and walker’s alike, complete with 500 acres of woodland, dry ski slope, toboggan run and the picture postcard Cefn Sidan Sands covering 8 miles of golden beach waiting to be discovered. Ty Isaf (meaning ‘lower house’), is situated within the Brecon Beacons National Park, just outside the Carmarthenshire village of Trapp. There are lovely views of the surrounding countryside and Carreg Cennen Castle from the cottage grounds. This lovely cottage has been luxuriously converted into an attractive holiday home and is just a stone’s throw from Carreg Cennen Castle which was listed by The Times in their top 20 walks within the UK.

From the terrace at the front of the cottage you enter via the sleek kitchen, which leads via two steps to the open plan living/dining area, with French doors out onto the rear patio and enclosed garden. The beams and high ceiling give a lovely light feel to the space and the stunning mezzanine bedroom with kingsize bed and TV overlooks the living room. There’s an additional bedroom on the ground floor with zip and link six foot bed. The spacious and well-appointed ground floor bathroom offers a Jacuzzi bath and a double size walk-in shower cubicle.
