With uninterrupted, stunning views and direct access to wonderful walks, Gwar Nant Cottage, renovated by the owners, is a very stylish holiday home lying in an enviable position within Rhandirmwyn, the small Carmarthenshire village with a big reputation. The garden and terrace of the cottage is a great place to relax and watch the varied visiting birds, and for cosy nights, the lounge with wood burning stove is the perfect place to be. This is a beautiful retreat to really get away from it all. The village, which is located in the Upper Tywi Valley boasts an award winning real ale pub with a reputation for great food, so good the Duchess of Cornwall has popped in for a drink as HRH Prince Charles has a country residence nearby.
The local area is steeped in history and tales, one such being the legend of highwayman Twm Siôn Cati, who hid out in caves near the village. The county of Carmarthenshire, known as ’The Garden of Wales’ has become a big draw for walkers, cyclists, anglers and lovers of the outdoors and is the largest county in southern Wales, stretching from Carmarthen Bay in the south to the western Brecon Beacons and Cambrian Mountains in the north. It offers rich landscapes, gardens, ancient castles, wildlife and sandy beaches as well as market towns brimming with local produce, chic shopping and eateries.
Llandeilo is one such town, less than 30 minutes drive away and the market town of Llandovery is just 10 minutes drive. Other places of interest nearby include National Trust Dolaucothi Goldmines (tours available) and the lakes of Llyn Brianne and Llyn-y-Fan Fach, the lake that gave rise to the Arthurian legend of the Lady of the Lake. This 18th century detached holiday cottage, at the end of a farm drive, is set in an elevated position with far reaching countryside views, between Llanelli and Carmarthen. Traditionally furnished, the cottage retains lots of character with exposed beams and tiled floors. As well as the living/dining area there is a parlour with ornate fireplace, piano and Welsh dresser, whilst the breakfast room has a decorative Rayburn, leading to a small but well equipped kitchen. There is a walking and cycling path within 0.5 miles and an abundance of activities nearby. Places of interest include Kidwelly Castle, Pembrey Country Park, Cefn Sidan beach, National Botanic Gardens, Ffos Las Racecourse (2 miles), all within easy driving distance, or drive to the Gower Peninsula, Folly Farm, Oakwood Theme Park and the delightful Pembrokeshire coastline. Starlight is situated on 15 acres of the owner’s land with unspoilt countryside views, there are woodlands to enjoy and a stream running through the site. Starlight has been renovated to a high standard in 2021 and has wheelchair access paths around the site. The property consists of a large open plan space with smart TV, the kitchen area is well-equipped including a slide and hide electric oven. There is a spacious king size bedroom on the ground floor and a separate wet room. The first floor has two spacious bedrooms with super king size beds, one of which has a Smart TV and floor to ceiling windows with great views to the valley. A family bathroom with shower over bath completes the picture. The private decked area with private hot tub perfect for watching the sunset or gazing through the dark skies at the stars.

Located just 20 minutes from Carmarthen town centre with its vast array of shops and restaurants, Carmarthenshire has some fantastic walks around the Presili Hills and National Botanic Gardens of Wales. Nearby, explore the historic castles of Kidwelly, Dynevor and Carew, and learn the rich history of the medieval times. Spend days visiting the market towns of Carmarthen and Laugharne, which was home to the famous Welsh poet, Dylan Thomas, and is renowned for its iconic boat house, historic castle, and traditional Welsh pubs where fresh fish is always on the menu. Less than a 30-minute drive away are the coastal resorts of Tenby and Saundersfoot, offering sandy beaches, boutique-style shops, and thrilling leisure parks, including Oakwood Theme Park and Folly Farm. This converted smart and spacious barn offers holidays in the beautiful Teifi Valley, close to the small village of Capel Iwan and the Cardigan Coast. One well behaved dog is welcome. This Teifi Valley barn is tastefully furnished throughout with three en-suite bedrooms (each with a TV), comfortable seating and a large TV in the roomy lounge which opens out into a smart and well-appointed kitchen. Five steps down from here lead into the dining area with table and chairs, sofa and patio doors opening onto an enclosed rear private garden. One well behaved dog is welcome.
