Glasfor, meaning The Blue Sea in Welsh, stands in the quaint coastal hamlet of Llansantffraed, a mixture of old white-washed cottages and seaside homes looked over by the ancient parish church, just less than ½ mile down the lane from the village of Llanon. The owners, who live across the lane, have lovingly created a charming holiday cottage for you to enjoy. Glasfor is a detached, single-storey cottage with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The modern, country-style breakfast kitchen has plenty of room, and the separate spacious dual-aspect beamed living/dining room has patio doors leading out into the enclosed cottage garden, ideal for children or pets to play. There’s a cosy wood burner for you to cuddle up in front of, making the cottage ideal for winter breaks too! The separate snug gives you the space to sit back and relax whilst listening to music or reading a book.

A short stroll will bring you to the coast where you will have plenty of choice as there are beaches all along Cardigan Bay, and many which allow pets all year round too. The village of Llanon has a pub, fish and chip shop, convenience store and butcher, so you will be able to get all your day to day needs. Just 11 miles north will bring you to the Victorian and university seaside town of Aberystwyth, where you will find a promenade and pier. Take a trip on the longest electric cliff railway in the UK to the top of Constitution Hill and take in the most amazing views over coffee and cake. Or, why not catch a steam train on the Vale of Rheidol Railway to Devil’s Bridge and waterfall, travelling through verdant countryside along the way? Travel 5 miles south of Llanon where you can visit the colourful Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron. There’s a good selection of independent shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants and lots of events featured throughout the year. A little further along will bring you to New Quay, where the houses cling to the rocks above the bay and dolphins can often be seen. Ceredigion is full of inspiration for a holiday whether you want to take in the wilderness of the Cambrian Mountains or enjoy the sparkling beaches and pretty coves, or even walk along the 60 miles of coastal pathway. Roath meaning ‘land near fort’, is one of a pair of delightful cottages situated within the owners’ 2-acre smallholding just outside the small village of Cilcennin and close to the sight of an Iron Age fort in a neighbouring field. The cottage, a renovated cow shed with exposed stonework, has been restored by the owners and it offers very attractive accommodation with a sleek, glossy kitchen and a high quality wet room. Flowing nicely and all on one level, it offers easy access for guests. Featuring open plan living space; it opens out onto its own enclosed courtyard terrace, perfect for relaxing comfortably and keeping an eye on the children or your dogs. There are sheep in the surrounding fields and chickens in the smallholding so the owners request that dogs be kept on a lead outside of the property and that children are supervised. Public footpaths in the immediate vicinity give access to delightful walks ranging from 1 to 10 miles, so put on your sturdy shoes and enjoy the peaceful countryside that surrounds you.

A short 15-minute drive will bring you to the lovely Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron with its colourful houses and an array of independent shops, lots of cafés, restaurants and pubs. Enjoy the renowned local honey ice cream whilst you watch the boats bobbing in the harbour. Further down the coast you will find the seaside town of New Quay where the houses cling to the rocks and the long harbour wall is the perfect place to enjoy fish and chips whilst you try to spot the bottlenose dolphins which are regular visitors to Cardigan Bay. Boat trips are available in season and offer a spectacular view of the coastline.

Visit the beautifully maintained Georgian country estate, Llanerchaeron, just 2½ miles south east of Aberaeron, or you can walk from the town along a wide level pedestrian pathway, ideal for cyclists, pushchairs or wheelchairs. The estate offers a fascinating insight into the life of the Welsh gentry and their staff 200 years ago. Run by the National Trust, there are often events on and there’s a well-stocked farm shop and café.

Less than 30 minutes towards the Cambrian Mountains will bring you to the historic market town of Tregaron, which has many summer events. Just outside the town you can discover the Cors Caron nature reserve covering 2,000 acres.

Take a delightful stroll from Aberaeron town along the leafy pedestrian track to Llanerchaeron, an elegant Georgian villa set in the wooded Aeron Valley; remarkably unaltered for over 200 years, this self-sufficient estate includes a farm, walled gardens, and a lake, and is now run by the National Trust; enjoy a coffee and a cake here before taking a leisurely stroll back. If you want to explore a little further afield, the whole of Ceredigion and Cardigan Bay awaits, there are 60 miles of glorious coastal path if you enjoy walking, and lots of towns and villages to explore. Visit the Victorian seaside resort of Aberystwyth, with its pier and promenade, or take the steam railway to Devils Bridge.New Quay is just a few minutes’ drive away and there you will find a quaint town, once the home of poet Dylan Thomas, and a great place to spot the resident bottlenose dolphins or take a boat trip out to discover the wildlife. The Tipis are situated on the owner’s 16-acre farmland, with sea views and beautiful meadows, forestry and waterfalls all on-site and within walking distance from the cottage – there are even pet lambs in the field. This is an ideal break away for a family or friends to enjoy this peaceful location, located just 2 miles from the fabulous quirky harbour towns of Aberaeron. Aberaeron retains its Georgian character with elegant brightly painted town houses and with a small harbour for yachts and fishing boats. Aberaeron is becoming something of a foodie pleasure. Stroll around the harbour along Quay Parade and enjoy lunch or dinner at one of the award-winning restaurants. The independent shops and craft centres are also a big hit amongst our guests. The town is right on the Wales Coast Path and The Coastal Way.
Ceredigion’s coast is also well-known for wildlife including the famous Cardigan Bay bottlenose dolphin pods, there are boat trips to explore the Ceredigion Marine Heritage Coast and the town features a Seafood Festival in July. From chilling out on the beach or enjoying a hearty harbour meal after a train ride Aberystwyth and Newquay which are a short drive offer traditional Welsh pubs, stylish restaurants and sandy beaches, where dolphins and porpoises are often spotted on a clear day. To the north are the famous slopes of Snowdon, offering breath-taking views with abundance of walks amidst the tumbling waterfalls, shimmering lakes with buzzards and peregrine falcons soaring high. The area is a natural playground for ramblers, mountain bikers and climbers alike.
The tipis consist of an open plan living/bedroom space with double bed, single sofa bed, a wood burning stove and externally there is a seating area with garden furniture and a fire pit. The kitchen is approximately 20 metres from the tipi with a fridge, freezer, sink, gas hob and microwave oven. The bathroom has a walk-in shower (wet room), again next to the kitchen area. The National Trust house and gardens of Llanerchaeron are 4 miles away and from here there’s a delightful level pedestrian country footpath, suitable for bikes, pushchairs or wheelchairs, which leads into Aberaeron. Pretty New Quay with boats bobbing about in the harbour is just a few miles further on, and is definitely worth a visit. You must look out for the resident pods of bottlenose dolphins seen in the bay on an almost daily basis! Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.

Situated in a peaceful location, Cwm Hyfryd is aptly name as it translates to ’delightful valley’. This spectacular, detached barn conversion, accessed by a farm track, has been cleverly planned to take advantage of the views as the living accommodation is on the first floor and opens out on to a balcony with table and chairs, the perfect spot for enjoying a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine.
The interior of the barn is spacious and well-presented. With four bedrooms and four bathrooms, it provides ample space for families or friends to spread out, and the open plan living space offers a sociable place to gather.
Step outside and you have a garden to enjoy, simply discover the many lanes and footpaths nearby. The small village of Cross Inn offers a pub and a village store. The nearest pretty secluded cove and beach at Cwmtydu can be reached within 3 miles, renowned for legends of smugglers and pirates, and where today, seals come to have their pups in early autumn. The unspoilt Ceredigion Coastal Path takes you over cliffs and through ancient woodland. The paths offer excellent walking opportunities and connect all the local beaches, many of which are dog friendly all year round if you are bringing your four-legged friend.
Delightful New Quay is also 2¼ miles away with its picturesque houses, pubs and restaurants. The town clings to the side of the hills rising above the blue waters of Cardigan Bay. It’s easy to understand why this area was such an inspiration to poet Dylan Thomas when he lived here. Often bottlenose dolphins can be spotted, and in season, dolphin survey boat trips are available from the sheltered harbour, or you can just enjoy the sandy beach, have an ice cream or fish and chips and watch the boats bobbing about.
