Visit include Speke Hall, Liverpool, Albert Dock, Knowsley Safari Park, Chester, Haydock and Aintree racecourses. Standing of the banks of the River Weaver and Shropshire Union Canal, Nantwich is a medieval market town with a cool modern edge. Whilst meandering around the atmospheric pedestrianised centre you’ll see historic timbered buildings housing lots of little independent shops, pubs and cafés that accommodate most tastes. The traditional indoor market hall is open three times a week, and in the summer the town centre really comes alive with floral displays throughout the streets and the town square festooned with bunting. Quite uniquely there’s a heated outdoor Brine Pool (May-Sep) and the town also plays host to many events throughout the year, including the legendary Jazz, Blues and Music Festival at Easter and the world-famous International Cheese Awards in July. For some local tastes Nantwich is also home to Sungburys Award Winning Ice Cream Farm and Chatwins Bakery which was established in the town over one hundred years ago.
Outside of Nantwich nearby Audlem (15 minutes) offers a range of shops that attract many visitors, or you can cross the border into Shropshire and visit Whitchurch and the beautiful countryside that surrounds it. A little further afield is the county town Shrewsbury, or magnificent cities of both Chester and Manchester which can be reached in around an hour’s drive or by train from Nantwich station which is just 0.5 miles away. For those who like to explore the great outdoors you can pick up the Sandstone Trail in nearby Tarporley, visit the castles of Beeston and Cholmondeley or head to Delamere Forest all of which can be reached in around 30 minutes. With the North Wales coastline also just an hour away you really are spoilt for choice.

The old market town of Malpas, which is actually classed as a large village, is under 2 miles away, and has plenty of shops and other amenities. Malpas is home to a Norman motte and bailey castle and consists of half-timbered ancient buildings, a Grade I listed church and Cholmondeley Castle. The property is ideally placed for visiting Chester, North Wales and Shropshire and is within easy reach of a plethora of activities. The historic walled city of Chester has much to offer including Chester racecourse and Chester Zoo, as well as excellent shopping and restaurants. Tarporley, the Delamere Forest and Beeston Castle are also nearby. Llangollen in North Wales is also a great place to explore, with its horse drawn canal barges, steam railway, Pontcysyllte Aqueduct which you can canoe over, and white water activities such as rafting, tubing and gorge walking, slightly further afield is Snowdonia National Park. Best of all is the huge range of walks and cycling routes directly from the doorstep.

The living room features a 4-seat sofa, foot stool and Freeview TV with direct access to front and rear patio areas, there is also a separate toilet. Upstairs there are two comfortable double bedrooms, with wardrobes and bedside tables, which both open out onto the staircase landing to enter the bathroom.

Day Green Barns is in close proximity to the M6 motorway, which makes it an ideal location for easy access to attractions throughout Cheshire, and the surrounding counties. The surrounding area boasts a wide range of attractions including the National Trusts sites, equestrian venues such as Somerford park, numerous walks in locations such as the peak district and Delamere Forest.

The galleried area in the barn has two single beds for guests and a modern family bathroom can be found downstairs for guests. There are stunning, uninterrupted views down the valley which can be enjoyed whilst seated on the patio furniture in the lovely courtyard of this pretty barn.


When ready to get out and about in the local area, you can choose to walk straight from the front door to start your day with a visit to the Ingersley Vale Waterfall or popular local landmark white Nancy, or maybe just a short drive away for a hike up Macc View for outstanding scenery. History buffs will relish in a trip to the nearby town of Macclesfield where they can discover the rich and captivating history of Armoury Towers and Fence Alms Houses or the Priests House that rests in the quintessential village of Prestbury.


Nearby Macclesfield is a market town and civil parish resting in Cheshire, England, on the outer fringes of the Peak District National Park. Boasting a wide range of pubs and restaurants for that fine dining experience, as well as some shops and supermarkets for picking up any last-minute essentials and indulging in a shopping spree, also offering Pott Shrigley (only 1 mile away) Tytherington (approximately 4miles) and Macclesfield Golf Club (approximately 5miles).
