The coastal hamlet of Little Haven is 10 minutes away where you can enjoy fresh line caught fish or an array of shellfish, and the local inn/restaurant serving local ales. Travelling further south west, visit the boating village of Dale and enjoy some fantastic walks, boating, kayaking and fishing, or for some birdlife, take a trip to Skomer Island with boats departing from St Martins Haven. Tenby, Folly Farm Zoo, Heatherton World of Adventures and Oakwood, Wales’ largest theme park, are all within 40 minutes’ drive and perfect for all the family.

A luxury barn conversion makes a great base to visit the Yorkshire coast, North York Moors National Park, Dolby Forest, the Yorkshire Wolds, Cleveland Way and nearby popular Market Towns. The owner has created a well equipped holiday ‘home’ with very high standard décor and furnishings. It is situated in the pretty village of Seamer, just 4 miles from the seaside town of Scarborough. The village has local pubs that serve traditional pub food and fine dining. There’s a small supermarket and post office as well as a fish and chip shop, all within walking distance. Lovely garden centre approx 1 mile.
Aysgarth Lodge has a large, enclosed garden, perfect for the dog or the children. There is a lawned area as well as patio with a wonderful hot tub to relax in after a busy day visiting the coast. The open plan kitchen/living area has a contemporary feel and features a cosy wood burner in the corner.
There are plenty of beaches to choose from Scarborough North and South Bays, Cayton Bay, Filey, Hunmanby, Reightons and slightly further Flamborough, Bridlington, Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay. Visit Scarborough’s historic Castle, Rotunda Museum, Sealife Centre or Peasholm Park. Enjoy fun filled family time at Scarborough Waterpark Alpamare, or relax in their luxury Wellness Spa above with its fantastic sauna overlooking the sea. Like a concert - look up Scarborough Open Air Theatre for Summer acts, also Scarborough Spa Theatre and Stephen Joesph Theatre (round theatre) for all year round entertainment.
For those of you who enjoy bird watching there’s the RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs where you can view thousands of migrating seabirds from the cliff top viewing points. People travel from all over to watch the comical puffins. The cyclists amongst you can enjoy some of the routes from the Tour de Yorkshire, as well as the wonderful Dalby Forest, home to miles and miles of mountain bike tracks. With over 8,000 acres of woodland pathways there’s plenty of woodland walks to enjoy, as well as the Cleveland Way. Aysgarth Lodge provides an excellent base to enjoy a golf tour of the North East Coast or play in the historic Scarborough golf week.
Yorkshire is famous for its market towns, Pickering, Malton, Beverley and Driffield are all a short drive from Aysgarth Lodge. In the village you will find a supermarket, post office, traditional pub, bistro pub, fish and chip shop and a church 100-400 yards. There is a garden centre. 10-15 minute flat walk which has a lovely café. Supermarket and fast food outlets within a 5 minute drive, all in the same place. You should not be disappointed with your stay as there’s something for all age groups and tastes. Beach 4½ miles. Shop 250 yards, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

This charming two-bed cottage is ideal for a romantic getaway or some fun time away with friends. Just 200m from the lovely sandy beach, the cottage offers opportunity for great walks and stunning views of Ailsa Craig and the Isle of Arran. Ballypride is a semi-detached holiday home that sleeps four guests and two dogs. With a spacious living room and dining area you can get cosy on the massive corner sofa while enjoying Satellite TV on our 52’’ Phillips Ambilight TV with 9.1 Dolby Atmos Surround Sound System. With detachable side speakers you can place anywhere in the room for a truly cinematic experience, you’ll need some popcorn for those movies. If you fancy some fun you can fire up the Nintendo Switch and have some adventures with Mario. There are two controllers but you can bring your own if you need a four player tournament. Girvan has shops, restaurants, cafes and leisure areas. Within a 15-minute walk there is a swimming pool, amusement area, large children’s play area, boating pond (seasonal) and the harbour with links to fishing trips or boat tours. The property is handy for the train station with links to Glasgow and Ayr or you can travel one hour north and grab a ferry to the beautiful Isle of Arran, travel south for an hour and you can get a ferry to Belfast. The Ayrshire Coastal path runs through the town with numerous sandy beaches to visit and walking trails to explore.

The area is steeped in history, with many ruined castles to discover, such as Dunure, Turnberry and Greenan. The world-famous Turnberry Resort is close by and in addition to golf it also has a fantastic spa and outdoor centre.

The Solway Coast, 10 miles, forms a border between England and Scotland, and is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, considered to be one of the most scenic stretches of English coastline. St Just is the nearest town, just 3 miles away, and has a busy square with shops, a bakery, four pubs, craft shops and art galleries. The fishing village of Mousehole is 6 miles with its small sandy beach area, pretty harbour, narrow twisting streets lined with excellent restaurants and pubs, or slightly further is St Ives, 12 miles. Penzance is also worth a visit, with its wealth of amenities including museums, fishing, golf, tennis and horse riding, as well as day trips to the Isles of Scilly. St Michael’s Mount at Marazion is a further 3 miles from Penzance. There is easy access to spectacular walks in the surrounding countryside and the coastal path to Cape Cornwall in one direction and Land’s End in the other. Apart from its sweeping promenade and pier, Aberystwyth has the famous Constitution Hill, the Victorian equivalent of a modern day theme park, rising dramatically from the sea, providing spectacular and uninterrupted views of the town, Cardigan Bay, and on a clear day, 26 mountain peaks spanning much of the length of Wales. This majestic panorama can be reached by train on the longest funicular electric cliff railway in Britain, which has been transporting visitors to the summit since opening in 1896. Aberystwyth is also the starting point for the Vale of Rheidol steam railway to Devils Bridge and a huge tumbling waterfall and gorge; a scenic journey well worth taking. Aberystwyth is much more than a seaside town. It is surrounded on three sides by some of the most glorious countryside in the UK. Apart from the wonderful Ceredigion Heritage Coast, there are the mountains of Pumlumon to the north-east, where the sources of both the Severn and the Wye are to be found. Pumlumon is part of the Cambrian Mountain Range, the last refuge of the Red Kite in Britain, until a few years ago when a management and protection scheme was started. Now you will frequently see them soaring above the hills and hear their distinctive cry. The visitor attraction of the Red Kite Feeding Station is just nine miles away, close to the Silver Mountain Mining Experience, another great attraction for families.
Other interesting places to visit in the area and within easy reach from Brynhoreb is the impressive sand dune system of the Ynyslas National Nature Reserve, which jut out halfway across the mouth of the Dovey Estuary; the colourful Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron and the pretty resort of New Quay that once inspired poet Dylan Thomas, and where Bottlenose dolphins can often been seen from the harbour. The whole area is a haven for walkers, cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts and lovers of golden sandy beaches, many of them dog friendly year round. Delve into the delights of Bwthyn Bwlford hidden in beautiful Pembrokeshire countryside and centrally positioned to discover all that this area has to offer. This quaint stone built cottage, attached to the owner’s farmhouse, is surrounded by 13 acres of mature fields and woodland on a picturesque smallholding. There are ponds on-site available for coarse fishing, with a selection of carp, mirror carp, rudd, roach, perch and gudgeon available for catch and release. Guests at Bwthyn Bwlford are permitted to fish at no extra cost.
This very comfortably appointed cottage has been thoughtfully restored back to its former glory with original beamed windows and alcoves. In the evening you can enjoy dining al fresco using the BBQ and finish the evening star gazing from your own private and secluded hot tub. A 10-minute drive from Johnston brings you to Broad Haven beach. A short drive from Bwthyn Bwlford is the harbour town of Milford Haven with its pretty picture postcard marina and host of pubs, shops and restaurants. Watch the world go by and relax whilst taking in the beautiful scenery at the harbour side with a freshly brewed coffee. Travelling a little further along this magnificent and dramatic coastline you will find Martin’s Haven where you will discover Lockley Lodge Visitor Centre, which is the gateway to the islands of Skomer and Skokholm. This really is a wildlife haven and well known for its puffins, gannets, razorbills and, of course, grey seals and dolphins.
A 30-minute drive is Anna Ryder Richardson’s West Wales Wildlife Park where you can meet southern white rhinos, the resident tiger or get up close in the wallaby’s walkthrough. Those looking for an adrenalin rush should visit Oakwood, Wales’ largest theme park. Beach 3 miles. Shop and restaurant 3 miles, pub 800 yards.
