During your stay, there is plenty to see and do in the local area and slightly further afield. Good days out include Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park, Watermouth Castle and the Lynton to Lynmouth cliff railway. At Croyde and Woolacombe you will find some of the best and cleanest surf beaches in the country as well as many smaller coves and bays. Exmoor is a short distance away and on a clear day the views can be spectacular. There are National Trust properties at Arlington and Knightshayes and the RHS gardens at Rosemoor, Great Torrington. Wrentham is a delightful village and being close to Southwold along the Suffolk Heritage Coast. The village has a good range of amenities including a village shop and post office, two pubs serving good food and Chinese takeaway. For those that prefer to eat out, you will be delighted with the gastro pubs within the surrounding area, and there is a pub serving good food just a 1-minute walk away. Beach 2 miles. Located in the historic town of Faversham, within the conservation area of the abbey, and as such, has been noted as one of the finest examples of a medieval street in Britain, where antique and craft shops, quaint tea rooms and old English pubs are in abundance.

Take a stroll to the nearby brewery and tour one of England’s oldest breweries before sampling the delights at the home of the world’s largest fruit collection; there are also lots of dog walks around the area. The excitements of Canterbury are not far away, and the wildlife rich ’Oare Wildlife Marshes’ is also within easy reach. Closer still is the pretty town of Whitstable, famed for its oysters and safe swimming spots and plentiful water sports.

Guests wanting to venture further afield can take the ferry from Dartmouth acrpss to Kingswear and onto the famous fishing town of Brixham, or alternatively drive into the market town of Totnes and explore the rest of the South Hams
