Tucked away in a peaceful and secluded village setting, these five comfortably furnished holiday cottages are set in an idyllic location, only 5 miles from the spectacular Bamburgh Castle and one of the longest sandy beaches in England, and within a few minutes’ drive of Seahouses, where regular boat trips depart for the Farne Islands. Between the Cheviots and the sea, there is easy touring through the beautiful countryside with its numerous castles, stately homes and NT properties. Furnished to a high standard, and close to the owners’ home, Fordson offers single-storey accommodation and Ferguson is a detached two-storey cottage. The Mill House stands as a detached converted barn, with Waren View and The Granary Cottage forming an adjoining pair. This is an ideal choice for family holidays, with use of a very pleasant lawned area by a stream. There is also shared use of the owners’ hard tennis court nearby.

Warenford Village serves as an excellent base from which to discover Northumberland and the Scottish border country. Just 4 miles distant lies Budle Bay, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, as well as an SSSI, with the ancient walled town of Berwick-upon-Tweed (15 miles) and the Duchess of Northumberland’s ornamental gardens a short drive away. Created to rival the best in Europe, the gardens are contemporary in design and include waterfalls and cascading plumes set within landscaped grounds with themed planted areas. Also sure to delight both young and old alike is a visit to neighbouring Alnwick Castle, which served as the location for the Harry Potter films. Home of the Percy family, it stands as the second largest inhabited castle in England after Windsor Castle, with some of its rooms open to the public and displaying a wealth of decorative and fine art.

Within easy reach, too, is Holy Island – renowned for its medieval religious heritage, priory and picturesque castle – and also known by its Anglo-Saxon name of Lindisfarne. Accessed by a paved causeway at low tide, the island is popular with bird-watchers and nature lovers, with the north-western portion of the island being maintained as a nature reserve, where terns, plovers and seals can be observed. Whilst on the island, a trip to The Museum of Island Life will reveal former living and working conditions there, and St Aidan’s Winery tempts visitors with its sweet concoction of local Lindisfarne Mead.
There are quiet country lanes for cycling and several excellent golf courses nearby, as well as a selection of shops in Belford (3 miles) and good inns and restaurants in which to enjoy a family meal locally – the nearest pub with restaurant being just 30 yards.

Good selection of shops, waterside cafés and restaurants.Wroxham Barns is just a few minutes’ drive with craft barns, boutique and shops, restaurants, play park and petting farm, which the younger children adore! Seaside resort of Sea Palling has excellent sandy beach backed by sand dunes, restaurant, small arcade and café, 18 minutes’ drive. Bygone museums, craft centres, National Trust parks and homes of Blickling and Felbrigg Halls are all within an easy drive. City of Norwich, 13 miles, has a magnificent cathedral, castle museum, art galleries, cinemas, theatre, cafés, fine restaurants and excellent shopping. Blakeney Quay and Morston Harbour located further along the north Norfolk coast offer seal watching boat trips and pubs and restaurants serving superb locally caught seafood.
Fishing is available (in season with licence) Sea Palling, Cromer and Sheringham beaches are great for sea fishing and alongside the River Bure for river fishing. Many fishing lakes within surrounding area. Great golf courses are within an easy drive. Sheringham cliff top, Sprowston, Barnham Broom and Bawburgh will certainly delight any keen golfer. This comfortable, dog friendly, holiday home is a 15-minute walk from Widemouth Bay which is a fantastic beach and has a vast expanse of golden sands at low tide and many rock pools to explore. The surf is often outstanding, the sun hits the beach for most of the day and the sunsets over the sea are simply magical. 3 miles to the north is Bude, a vibrant, bustling little tourist town with a wealth of restaurants and amenities.
For walkers and cyclists the area is full of superb routes and Bude lies at the centre of the most dramatic stretch of the south west coastal footpath. There are numerous local villages and landmarks to explore and much of the area is a nature lovers paradise. Bude is only a couple of minutes down the road and has the full range of facilities that one would expect of a small town including a wide range of shops, pubs and restaurant.
Bude is possibly more diverse than any other holiday destination in Cornwall. Most major villages, towns and attractions are within an hour’s drive; and because Bude sits on the county border, visitors can explore the delights of both Devon and Cornwall at their leisure. Look past the eight main beaches and many smaller hidden coves and you will soon see there really is something for everyone. In the centre of Bude there is a huge, sandy beach which is a favourite with children and adults alike,there are a host of pubs, cafés and restaurants to suit every palate. There is a new Visitors Centre in the Crescent car park, a large children’s play area, a 19th century canal and a small wharf amongst many other attractions. Bude is also home to the internationally acclaimed jazz festival which takes place each August. Beach 1.5 miles.

With spacious open plan living space, it is ideal for enjoyable gatherings of families or friends. Barn Cottage offers a first floor living room, complete with doors which open onto a small decked balcony where guests can admire the magnificent views across rolling fields and out to the sea. Both properties enjoy shared access to the range of facilities found on-site, including a tennis court and a children’s outdoor play area with slides, swings and a climbing wall. Why not take a dip in the heated outdoor swimming pool, or challenge friends and family to the variety of games found in the small indoor games barn including table tennis, air hockey and a small pool table. It has far reaching, exceptional sandy beaches, and provides miles of coastal paths for enthusiastic walkers. The well loved tourist town of Bude is just 3 miles further up the coast. The town offers an indoor swimming pool, shops, restaurants, horse riding, a golf course and tenpin bowling. For the keen walker there are many opportunities both along the south west coastal path route, which runs the entire coastline of Cornwall and offers stunning cliff walks, and on nearby Bodmin Moor.
