    Turnpike Cottage is only a short, 5-minute walk down the hill to the pretty little harbour of Portscatho, where many artists have taken inspiration from the stunning location and superb light in the area. There are a number of delightful little galleries showcasing the work of various Cornish artists. The local public house is nestled in The Square and serves local ales and good pub grub all year round. Rosevine beach is dog friendly throughout the year and is just to the east of the village. It has beautiful golden sands and is over looked by the increasingly famous Hidden Hut. The Camel Trail, a flat 18-mile trail that hugs the shoreline of the Camel estuary and travels inland to the delightful market town of Wadebridge, before leading on to Bodmin and the surrounding moors, is an absolute must. You can hire a bike and cycle the trail, in part or all 18 miles - a firm favourite with locals and tourists.

    Newquay, Polzeath, Mawgan Porth, Watergate Bay plus other hidden coves along this coastline provide some of the best surfing spots in the UK. Padstow harbour also has many day boats that provide fishing trips so you might catch your evening’s supper!     To the north is Widemouth bay and the bustling tourist town of Bude while to the west is the stunning and infamous village Boscastle, nestled in a steep valley where the river has cut a course through the steep cliffs to the sea. It is a fantastic place either for a family holiday or as a base for exploring this majestic area of coastline and creeks.     Skyber Lowen is tucked away in the hamlet of Kuggar on the eastern side of the stunning Lizard Peninsula, surrounded by beautiful coastline to the west and east and the Helford River to the north. There are numerous coastal and country walks to be enjoyed with much of the coastline being in the ownership of the National Trust.
    Kuggar itself is typically quiet and peaceful and has a couple of campsites and small bars which, along with the rest of Cornwall, become livelier in the peak of summer season with some live music. There is a shop and a Post Office in nearby Ruan Minor. The golden sands at Kennack are a three minute drive or a 15 minute walk from the property and dog-friendly all year, with some restrictions during July and August. The picturesque villages of Cadgwith and Coverack are nearby with the amazing Kynance Cove just a short distance by car. Beach ¾ miles.
