Located at the end of a private lane on the edge of Cornwall’s highest village of St Breward, Sandy Barn Cottages comprises three beautifully converted holiday barns (refs B5718, B5719 and W44032) and the owner’s own home, forming a secluded courtyard of 200-year-old granite buildings. The dog-friendly cottages are all tastefully furnished with many character features including slate floors and exposed beams. Cross Cottage (ref B5718) is detached with views over neighbouring fields.
Ideally situated on the edge of Bodmin Moor for exploring the landscape of tors and moorland. Enjoy walking, cycling, riding, fishing or simply relaxing. The nearest beach of Trebarwith Strand is 20 minutes’ away, but may favourites such as Whitehaven, Daymer Bay, Polzeath and Trevone are within 30-40 minutes’. With the beaches of the North Cornwall coast within 12 miles, visitors can enjoy the best of coast and countryside, alternating their days between tranquil landscapes, coastal walks and seaside fun at the beaches.

Linkinhorne is a small, pretty hamlet just a few miles out of the town of Callington, nestling in the Lynher valley below Bodmin Moor. This part of Cornwall is an unspoilt, hidden rural area quite often missed off the tourist map. Lead on to the dining area, complete with impressive handmade wooden dining table and seating for ten guests, looking out onto the garden. The wall here is adorned with a fantastic map of the county, a further reminder of the wonders of this amazing region and its many attractions and places to explore! The adjoining kitchen has a small breakfast bar area and plenty of workspace and equipment for preparing breakfast or your evening meal.

There are five bedrooms all on one level, where the unique and upcycled theme continues, with solid pine furniture given a fresh modern look. A roomy family bathroom includes a bath, while a second bathroom features a walk-in shower.

Outside, an excellent decking area with table, chairs and barbecue offers the ideal space to enjoy morning coffee or evening meal al fresco. There is even a firepit!

You are spoilt for a choice of beaches here; Harlyn Bay Beach, just 3 miles away, offers a broad expanse of golden sand stretching far before you. Trevose Headland offers spectacular vistas, whilst further beaches at Treyarnon Bay and beautiful Porthcothan Beach are just a short drive away, with rock pools for all ages to explore! Visit Padstow, with its fabulous seafood restaurants, busy quayside and narrow streets, or vibrant Newquay, with its plethora of vibrant bars and restaurants, and scintillating surfing and water sports activities.

Away from the coast, Camel Valley Theme Park, the world-renowned Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan all offer fun days out, whilst Bodmin Moor is an atmospheric place, with mysterious rock formations and views as far as the eye can see. Sandpipers is a pretty, upside-down holiday cottage adjoining the owner’s farmhouse and is one of three characterful cottages at this location. There are two cosy bedrooms downstairs and a light and modern open plan kitchen/living space upstairs. There is a large TV and DVD player with a selection of DVDs, books and games to keep you entertained or simply curl up with a book and unwind on the comfy leather sofas. With its own private garden, you can enjoy a lazy breakfast while making plans for the day ahead, and you are welcome to use the owner’s fields for games or exercise.

Holsworthy is a historic market town just 2½ miles away with a good selection of local shops, a supermarket, amenities, a golf club and an indoor swimming pool and leisure centre. The village of Pyworthy, with its popular village inn and restaurant, is just ½ mile away. Bude is nearby with its historic castle, vibrant town centre and great range of good restaurants and bars and is perfect for a day out. While water sport enthusiasts can try their hand on the surf at one of the fabulous beaches. There is a range of water sports and fishing available at the nearby Tamar Lakes, as well as coastal and country walking, golf, surfing, horse riding, cycling on the National Cycle Route which passes by the cottage, or simply relaxing in the peaceful surroundings. There is something for everyone in this stunning location. With pretty fishing villages and spectacular beaches and coves dotted all along this coastline from Padstow, Tintagel, Crackington Haven and Bude in Cornwall to Westward Ho!, Clovelly and Instow in Devon, and for a great day out, the famous Eden Project is within easy reach. This delightful, single-storey, detached holiday cottage is set amidst the owners’ mature Cornish gardens, with access to a wildlife pond and koi pond where you can feed the fish. Fairview (CWC561946) is a reverse level, semi-detached cottage with an entrance on the first floor and a large living/dining room, a cosy wood-burning stove, there is a west-facing conservatory down a couple of steps with sofa and access to a small private garden. A family bedroom on the first floor provides a level living area for those with a mobility issue. On the ground floor are further bedrooms and a family bathroom. Barn Cottage (CWC562587) is also a reverse level, semi-detached cottage with two bedrooms on the ground floor.
This is a real farm experience, fresh free-range eggs are available from the owners, and there are a number of walks across the delightful 150 acres. This is a dog-friendly property however please note that it is a working Beef and Sheep farm, so dogs must be kept under control.
Further along the coast is Sandymouth, a large beach ideal for families due to its lovely sand, rock pools and tea rooms. A short drive north over the border into Devon leads to the quaint village of Hartland which has a magnificent church with an amazing painted ceiling and one of the tallest towers in England. Hartland Quay has a hotel and Wreckers Bar as the coast here is littered with wrecks and is a lovely spot for some lunch. Also well worth a visit is the world-famous fishing village of Clovelly. The cobbled, traffic-free, high street is built into a cleft in a 400’ high cliff and tumbles its way down past whitewashed cottages festooned with flowers to the tiny working port. Beach 2 miles.
