Trevose Headland offers spectacular vistas, whilst further beaches at Treyarnon Bay and beautiful Porthcothan Beach are just a short drive away, with rock pools for all ages to explore! Visit Padstow, with its fabulous seafood restaurants, busy quayside and narrow streets, or vibrant Newquay, with its plethora of vibrant bars and restaurants, and scintillating surfing and water sports activities.

Portscatho lies in the south-westerly corner of Gerrans Bay on the Roseland peninsula. In the village centre you’ll find several shops including a butcher and a decent grocery/off licence as well as the now standard galleries and gift shops. The local pub serves up St Austell ales and good pub grub.
Above Portscatho lies the village of Gerrans, only a 5-minute walk up the hill. The mediaeval church, that stands opposite, has served as an invaluable landmark to generations of local fishermen. Take the cliff path north out of Portscatho and in under 20 minutes you’ll be standing on the beautiful Porthcurnick beach. At low tide Porthcurnick has acres of flat sand perfect for games of cricket, but you might have to wade out a bit to get a decent swim! Further east still are Carne beach and Pendower beach which at low tide join to form an even bigger expanse of sand where dogs are allowed all year round. Head slightly south to Gwithian and the famous lighthouse at Godrevy sits proudly on its rocky outcrop. The area attracts seals, dolphins, basking sharks and is a great spot for bird watchers, with the wide estuary at Hayle and marshes at nearby Marazion. Penzance, EnglandOnly a 250 yard walk from the beautiful sandy beach of Whitesand Bay, this row of furnished holiday properties commands magnificent views from the top of the high dunes over the bay and Sennen Cove. On a quiet lane leading only to the cliffs, they have been very tastefully converted from a spacious Victorian house and are stunningly set in several acres of shared natural grounds; home to a wonderful variety of wildlife which can easily be seen from the steep, private beach path and the cottages themselves. Free beach gear is available to borrow (surfboards, buckets and spades, windbreaks, plus some wetsuits) and there is private storage for visitors’ own equipment. The beach at Whitesand is magnificent and offers a splendid mile of sand which has been awarded Blue Flag status and is excellent for surfing (lifeguards operate throughout the summer). There is a ban on dogs from 1st May to 30th September but dogs are permitted year round on nearby Gwenver Beach, the next beach along the coast path. Sennen Cove, ½ mile, is a picturesque little fishing village looking out over the bay. It offers shops, pub, restaurants, even a lifeboat station, all within walking distance. There are some beautiful walks along the coast towards Cape Cornwall in one direction, and beyond Land’s End in the other.
The famous outdoor Minack Theatre is only 3 miles away and Penzance, 7 miles, boasts a mainline station, shops, inns, swimming-pool, sailing and tennis. There is a golf course at St Just, 4 miles, and facilities for squash and badminton are available locally. Picturesque St Ives (a renowned haunt of artists) is 15 miles away along the spectacular north coast.
