Each has its own character and charm, and were previously farm buildings that have been lovingly restored. The complex is perfect for families and friends looking for a break by the sea, the views from the farm down to Mevagissey are stunning and this quiet, elevated location is only a 10-minute walk from the village’s pubs, shops and local restaurants.

    Guests can venture out on foot and follow the many picturesque walks nearby, which offer beautiful coastal views and lead to sandy coves and beaches. Famous popular Cornish attractions are within easy reach of the property and include The Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and Restormel Castle.     The historic market town of Holsworthy is just 2½ miles away, and has a good selection of local shops, a supermarket, town amenities, a golf club and an indoor swimming pool and leisure centre. The village of Pyworthy, with its popular village inn and restaurant, is just ½ mile away. Nearby Bude with its historic castle, vibrant town centre and vast array of good restaurants and bars is perfect for a day out, or why not borrow one of the owners supply of body boards and try out the surf?
    Water sports and fishing are available at the nearby Tamar Lakes, as well as coastal and country walking, golf, surfing, horse riding, cycling on the National Cycle Route which passes by the cottage, or simply relaxing. There is something for everyone in this stunning location. Pretty fishing villages and spectacular beaches and coves are dotted all along this coastline from Padstow, Tintagel, Crackington Haven and Bude in Cornwall to Westward Ho!, Clovelly and Instow in Devon, and for a great day out, the famous Eden Project is within easy reach.     Welcome to Barn Owl a converted four-bedroom barn sleeping eight, nestled in the picturesque hamlet of Carnkie near Redruth. This large property is ideal for extended families and friends who are looking for a base to explore this beautiful area. Upstairs are two double bedrooms with doors that lead out onto a conservatory, ideal for morning coffee or just enjoying peace and quiet. This looks over the enclosed garden, which is on two levels and all laid with chippings. On the ground floor is a large kitchen/dining room ideal for entertaining. Friends and family can sit around the table, which was originally a pasty making table. The living room is charming with a wood burner nestled into the feature granite fireplace, ideal on a cold winter’s evening where you can curl up with a hot drink and a good book, or watch one of your favourite programs on the large TV. There is a large lawned field in front of the parking area, with football goals ideal for a game, or just running around. The on-site laundry has two large washing machines and a microwave, shared between Barn Owl and and an additional one bedroomed cottage.
    There is so much to do in the area including remnants of the copper mining industry that made Redruth one of the richest mining areas in Cornwall. If you go into Redruth town, just over two miles away, you will see the old clock tower, historic buildings and various statues celebrating the history of the area. The Great Flat Lode is within walking distance from the property and is ideal for walking and cycling. It follows part of the Basset Mine Tramway, which is approximately 6 miles long, where you will see some of the finest remains of engine houses and other structures as you wander around. The imposing Carn Brea rests at the top and if you climb up you will be rewarded with spectacular panoramic views, including parts of South Croft Mine which was the last Cornish mine to close.
    If you are looking for beaches, Portreath is the closest just over 5 miles away, or Porthowan beach just over 6 miles away. If you want to go a little further then a visit to the pretty village of St Agnes with its beach and coastal walks is under 10 miles away.
