Drive through the gates of Honeysuckle Cottage into your designated parking space and enclosed courtyard, you will see patio doors leading into the open plan living area. There is a short walk (Approx. 1 Mile) from the cottage through a private field to Gunwalloe beach, or if you don’t feel as energetic, a 10-minute car journey will take you the 4.1 miles by road. Whilst you are here, visit the sandy beaches with small hidden coves, discover the dramatic cliff top walks taking in the spectacular scenery. This is a great location to explore The Lizard Heritage Coast which is the UK’s most southerly point and designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You can see the oldest mainland lighthouse, explore the coastal paths, refresh at the 15th Century pub or enjoy a local ice-cream or a Famous Anne’s Cornish pasty!

St Austell, EnglandCobblers Cottage dates from the mid-19th century and is a lovely example of the style found in Cornwall at this time. The cottage has an inviting kitchen which is well equipped, warm and cosy. The living room has an original fireplace, housing an electric wood burner and has soft furnishings to sink into. There is a delightful snug, where you can relax with your favourite book, whilst upstairs are two comfortable double bedrooms with views across the village and beyond. The family bathroom has superb tiling in traditional Cornish colours and has both a bath and efficient electric shower over. The garden has been carefully tended and has an array of flowers, shrubs and plants with a wooden bench in a secluded part, with subtle lighting. There is parking for one car across the owner’s driveway and roadside parking is also available.
The village of Nanpean, translated from the Cornish meaning ‘little valley’, is just 4 miles from the town of St Austell and is steeped in history. The historical village port of Charlestown is 7 miles away and has been the setting of many films and the popular series of Poldark, due to it’s originality and authentic tall ships. There is a fascinating Shipwreck Museum here along with pubs and restaurants. The Clay Trails offer wonderful walks and cycling paths and an insight into the once huge industry of clay mining which was a major part of the economy for the area. The scenery is quite stunning here. There is a lovely short walk which begins next to the cottage and takes you down through woodland and on past the football pitch, itself for public use.
The buzzing town of Newquay, famed for its water sport activities, restaurants, bars and beaches is a lively place and sits just 11 miles away. This location is also perfect for exploring the harbour towns and villages to the east, including beautiful Fowey, with its narrow streets and ancient natural harbour. Polperro, famous for smuggling connections in times gone by, is a ‘must visit’, whilst Looe, with its hills looking down to the delightful harbour, is quite beautiful, especially at night when the waterside lighting creates a somewhat magical feel.
Further inland, the unique Eden Project shows a world beneath huge biomes and is an amazing experience. Atmospheric Bodmin Moor offers breathtaking views from its rising tors and mysterious stone structures, whilst the Camel Trail can be enjoyed by hiring a bicycle and travelling part or all of its 18 miles, along stunning scenery, unseen and hidden from busy roads. Trethosa is a pretty Hamlet in the Parish of St Stephen, situated between St Austell and Newquay and just a short drive from the A30 means great access to all the delights Cornwall has to offer. There is a rich mining heritage in the area, with China Clay being the mineral of choice. If you wish to learn more, a visit to the China Clay Museum during your stay is well worth a trip. The golden sands and crashing surf of the beaches around Newquay are a 15-minute drive to the north. The Eden Project, Carlyon Bay and the Roseland peninsula with its picturesque fishing villages are 20 minutes to the south. The cathedral city of Truro and a wide range of shops, pubs and restaurants are also within easy reach.
To the north is Newquay and these days, its excellent surfing waters are the town’s main industry, whereas it once used to be a major export port for the counties mining efforts and a north coast port for pilchard fisheries. Fistral Beach holds many surfing competitions throughout the year. Both the Women’s and Men’s Gig Championships are held here, as are a balloon festival and surf and lifesaving events. Newquay Zoo now houses 130 different species in sub-tropical gardens in the centre of the town. 2 Miles away is The Lappa Valley Steam Railway which, offers both the old and young an interesting day out.
The Cathedral City of Truro is in Cornwall’s heart and offers a wealth of facilities for the visitor. Dominated by the stunning cathedral, it is one of the south west’s most attractive cities. Lemon Quay plays host to many events throughout the year, including the Cornwall Food & Drink Festival in the Autumn and the famous Truro Fatstock Show just before Christmas. The pretty village of St Merryn is in the centre of the peninsula that extends out to Trevose Head and is within a few miles of seven fantastic beaches. The village has a tourism motto, Seven Bays for Seven Days. Padstow, renowned for being the base for TV chef Rick Stein’s Cornish Seafood empire, is a stunning town with a wealth of pubs, bars, cafes and restaurants. Padstow is also the western end of the Camel Trail, which stretches 18 miles to the east along the Camel Valley on a largely flat disused railway line.
To the south is Mawgan Porth and the pretty village of St. Mawgan. Situated mid-way between Padstow and Newquay close to the Southwest Coastal Path on the rugged north Cornish coast, Mawgan Porth offers you a beautiful west-facing beach with stunning scenery, wondrous walks, and superb surfing. The open plan living space is cosy, and has a well-equipped, contemporary kitchen, benefitting from a Nespresso coffee machine (pods not included). The living area has plenty of comfortable seating, a Smart TV and a multi-fuel burner. The bathroom, complete with a rain shower over the bath, is found on the ground floor. There is also a large cupboard under the stairs, with an iron, ironing board and fireguard, and its also ideal for hanging coats and muddy boots.
