Saint Austell, EnglandThese two single-storey barns (refs 29635 and 29636) have been converted from an old grain mill and stores. Cosy and warm in the winter and cool and airy in the summer the grain stores provide a well equipped home from home. Alongside a variety of board games and books, there’s a large collection of DVDs to enjoy on the 50" TVs. There’s a sunny south-facing garden, with a hideaway den with day bed, in which to enjoy an afternoon snooze. With no light pollution, there’s ample opportunity for star-gazing the dark skies.
Little Polgrain Barns are in the heart of the Roseland Peninsula, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It’s a walker’s paradise, with flower-filled lanes giving way to stunning coastal scenery. A stroll along the lane beings you to the hamlet of Portholland, a pretty cove with a history of smuggling. The pubs at St Ewe and Tregony are local family and dog friendly pubs, within a few miles radius. Unspoilt sandy beaches, ancient fishing harbours, tiny art galleries, great seaside cafes and pubs makes this a place with something for everyone. The cafe in nearby Portscatho offers feast nights throughout the summer. Kayaking, horse riding, cycling and sailing are all close at hand.
This area of Cornwall is renowned for its sub-tropical gardens. Caerhays Castle has featured on numerous TV and feature film dramas and is surrounded by acres of magnificent camellias and magnolias. Many of the plants were originally shipped from China in the 19th century. The Lost Gardens of Heligan is a short drive away, there visitors can spend all day wandering through the walled gardens, jungle valley and enjoy watching the heritage breeds at the South West’s first Rare Breed Farm Park. The Eden Project is also nearby, it’s famous biomes nestle in a reclaimed china clay pit. This amazing complex has a huge indoor rainforest, full of exotic planting, waterfalls and treetop walkways. It’s an ecological hub, with themed seasonal events and provides a spectacular setting for their regular music festival, the Eden Sessions. Charlestown, a regular location for ’Poldark’, is a few miles away in St Austell. It has a shipwreck centre and offers trips on its famous tall ships.

Tintagel, EnglandNewhaven is a beautifully presented, dog friendly, bungalow with a terraced garden, and a large deck and is ideal for a family with young children, the twin bedroom is pirate themed and there are a wealth of novel garden ornaments including a lobster pot and "smugglers den," a child’s playhouse. The dining conservatory creates an al fresco ambience of dining under the stars but remains cosy with underfloor heating, and winter evenings will be toasty warm in the dual aspect kitchen/living room with the lovely slate fireplace surrounding the wood burner.
Trebarwith Strand Beach is close by and at low tide a large expanse of golden sand is exposed, with plenty of rock pools and a number of caves, just be careful to always check the tide times. Tintagel is well worth a visit, cross the new suspension bridge to Tintagel Castle and Island where medieval fortifications combine a history of the dark ages with the legend of King Arthur to produce a wonderful day out with many different eateries and pubs to sample as a bonus. The coast path stretches along some of the most rugged cliffs in the southwest, where majestic promontories overlook secluded beaches with golden sands and crashing Atlantic surf. A quick drive will also take you to Boscastle, site of the infamous floods in 2004, or the traditional fishing village of Port Isaac where lovely narrow lanes lead to the charming harbour and beach that Port Isaac is so famous for. St Just, EnglandStone Farm Cottage is a beautifully presented granite cottage with rolling rural views derelict tin mine engine houses dot the landscape and there are magnificent sea views from the top of the garden. A small stream trickles through the garden and there is access to a shared (with the owners) covered swimming pool which is heated and available from the beginning of June until the beginning of September.

Bojewyan is a small settlement to the east of Pendeen which is famous for its industrial heritage. Pendeen village has a general store and Post office and there are four local pubs serving food. Three of these, as well as a takeaway fish and chip shop and a Spanish tapas restaurant, are all within a 2-minute drive or a 10-minute walk from the property.
The St Just area has a rich mining history and has now been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and is also in one of the twelve Cornish Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Pendeen Lighthouse and the secluded Portheras Cove and beach are a mile to the north. The coastline in this part of Cornwall is simply outstanding and the road from St Ives to St Just is possibly the most scenic drive in the county.
