A little further afield are the seaside towns of Sheringham and Cromer, the market town of Holt and the city of Norwich, with its famous Norman castle, numerous museums and all the facilities that you would expect from a fine city. Also worth exploring are the Norfolk Broads where you can enjoy boat trips. There are stately homes and National Trust properties galore, beautiful nature reserves and birdwatching opportunities, as well as pleasant walks and cycling routes – you can see why this area is so very popular. Lancaster also has a large sports and leisure centre. Nature lovers will love Leighton Moss RSPB Nature Reserve, 10 miles, where the BBC’s Autumnwatch was filmed. Other places of interest nearby include Morecambe, 11 miles, Lancaster and Ingleton, both 12 miles. Just over 30 minutes drive will take you to Grange-over-Sands, Cartmel or Kendal, and within an hour you can be exploring Lake Windermere or Lancashire’s beautiful Ribble Valley and Forest of Bowland.
