Bryncrwn Cottage is a spacious conversion of a traditional Welsh farmhouse set in the hillside. Every room of this superior dwelling boasts uninterrupted views of Aberystwyth (5 miles away) and the Cambrian Hills. Situated just 5 minutes from Cardigan Bay and within easy reach to the whole of the beautiful Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire coastline and coastal walks, The Stables is a detached, converted stone holiday cottage peacefully set on a farm with a selection of alpacas, donkeys, goats, ducks and chickens. The owners who live on the farm, which is set in 48 acres of rolling countryside, encourage the children to interact with the animals, and are also pleased to offer the use of a barbecue hut nicknamed the ‘Hobbit House’ by the family. Guests can hire it during their stay directly with the owners, subject to availability and for a small charge. There is bike storage in the barn if you would like to bring your own bikes.
Within a 15-minute drive visitors can discover quaint New Quay, famous for the bottlenose dolphins that can often be seen from the harbour (boat trips available in season). The colourful, Georgian, harbour town of Aberaeron is just a bit further up the coast road, with its chic shops and plenty of restaurants. Antique shoppers and browsers will enjoy the nearby market town of Newcastle Emlyn, and Cenarth with its waterfalls is also close by and offers indoor swimming, coracle rides, fishing and paintballing. There are numerous attractions in the area, particularly suitable for children.
Nearby is the Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park, which is set on a headland overlooking the nature reserve of Cardigan Island, home to thousands of sea birds. At the foot of the cliffs, a colony of Atlantic grey seals can be observed in their natural habitat. Spectacular coastline and wonderful views can be savoured from the National Trust managed Penbryn Bay and a visit to National Trust Cilgerran Castle can also be enjoyed. Only the ruins remain of this striking 13th-century castle, whose vantage point overlooks the wonderful Teifi Gorge. Also nearby is the town of Cardigan with its restored medieval castle. The Teifi Valley Railway is another experience for the visitor, a 2-mile journey offers wonderful views of the valley and countryside. Golf and horse riding can also be found locally. Beach 3½ miles. Roath meaning ‘land near fort’, is one of a pair of delightful cottages situated within the owners’ 2-acre smallholding just outside the small village of Cilcennin and close to the sight of an Iron Age fort in a neighbouring field. The cottage, a renovated cow shed with exposed stonework, has been restored by the owners and it offers very attractive accommodation with a sleek, glossy kitchen and a high quality wet room. Flowing nicely and all on one level, it offers easy access for guests. Featuring open plan living space; it opens out onto its own enclosed courtyard terrace, perfect for relaxing comfortably and keeping an eye on the children or your dogs. There are sheep in the surrounding fields and chickens in the smallholding so the owners request that dogs be kept on a lead outside of the property and that children are supervised. Public footpaths in the immediate vicinity give access to delightful walks ranging from 1 to 10 miles, so put on your sturdy shoes and enjoy the peaceful countryside that surrounds you.

A short 15-minute drive will bring you to the lovely Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron with its colourful houses and an array of independent shops, lots of cafés, restaurants and pubs. Enjoy the renowned local honey ice cream whilst you watch the boats bobbing in the harbour. Further down the coast you will find the seaside town of New Quay where the houses cling to the rocks and the long harbour wall is the perfect place to enjoy fish and chips whilst you try to spot the bottlenose dolphins which are regular visitors to Cardigan Bay. Boat trips are available in season and offer a spectacular view of the coastline.

Visit the beautifully maintained Georgian country estate, Llanerchaeron, just 2½ miles south east of Aberaeron, or you can walk from the town along a wide level pedestrian pathway, ideal for cyclists, pushchairs or wheelchairs. The estate offers a fascinating insight into the life of the Welsh gentry and their staff 200 years ago. Run by the National Trust, there are often events on and there’s a well-stocked farm shop and café.

Less than 30 minutes towards the Cambrian Mountains will bring you to the historic market town of Tregaron, which has many summer events. Just outside the town you can discover the Cors Caron nature reserve covering 2,000 acres.

If you fancy adventuring out, there are a number of beaches only a short drive away, including Penbryn, Tresaith, Mwnt, Llangranog and Poppit Sands. Staying local, you’ll have a selection of amenities, including a choice of takeaways, a shop, and dog friendly café and pub within walking distance. Snowdrop is situated on the owner’s land, with six lakes available for coarse and fly fishing (equipment for all fishing needs can be hired on-site). Nearby Cardigan Bay has lots to see and do in and around the town. There are two beaches to enjoy, good launching for small boats from the harbour, boat trips to spot the marine life, sea angling, fishing for salmon/sea trout on the River Aeron or you can enjoy a cycle ride along one of the five Wales’ cycle trails. Why not take a stroll along Lover’s Walk’ past four weirs and along the river valley to Llanachaeron? Or try a coastal clifftop walk with stunning sea views and spectacular wildlife.
The property is also just 5 miles from New Quay Beach, a quaint seaside town with an array of little shops, cafés, restaurants and pubs. Enjoy fish and chips along the harbour whilst looking out for the frequently visiting bottlenose dolphins. There are crab fishing boats and fishing trips, and if you would like to see the marine life, take a dolphin survey trip.
Explore the 60 miles of Ceredigion coastline along the coastal path, with numerous beaches. Or visit the secluded National Trust cove of Cwmtydu, where seal pups can often be seen during the autumn months. Close by is New Quay Honey Farm, with its tea rooms and shop selling honey and beeswax.
